    Peak stuff

Every once in a while, a film comes along that doesn't just entertain-it reshapes the cinematic landscape, leaving you altered in its wake. Lovely is one such masterpiece. It isn't merely a movie; it's an emotional, visual, and philosophical triumph-a revolutionary experience that speaks to the very soul of storytelling.

Let's not mince words: if you've missed this film, you've missed a turning point in modern cinema. It is not hyperbole to say that Lovely deserves to be studied, revered, and rewatched until every frame is etched into memory. This is a film that doesn't just push the boundaries of creativity-it obliterates them.

From the very first scene, it's clear that the filmmakers have approached this work not as a project, but as a passion-fueled canvas. The direction is unflinchingly bold, capturing both grandiosity and intimacy in perfect balance. Every shot is purposeful, every transition seamless. The cinematography dances with your senses-painting with light, shadows, and colors in ways that feel less like camera work and more like visual poetry.

But it's the idea behind Lovely that elevates it to legendary status. The plot is not just original-it's revolutionary. It unravels slowly, deliberately, with layer upon layer of meaning. You don't just watch it-you experience it. It questions reality, challenges perspectives, and confronts emotions most films are too afraid to even touch. At its core, this is a story of human depth, of love and loss, of identity, purpose, and the fragility of truth.

The performances? Nothing short of transformative. The lead actor delivers a performance so raw, so heartbreakingly authentic, that it's hard to separate the actor from the character. You feel what they feel. You ache when they ache. You cheer, you cry, and you hold your breath with them. The supporting cast? Equally phenomenal. Each character is beautifully crafted, not just serving the plot but living and breathing within it, adding richness and nuance to every scene.

Lovely - A good subject that fell flat in climax portions

    Rating - 2.75/5

A small fantasy movie infused in humour portraying a human - fly bonding.

The story revolves around a progressively thinking young adolescent guy who accidentally lands up in jail developing a strange bonding with a fly and the exaggerated events that follows forms the crux of the movie.

Dileesh has given life to a good idea and has blended the story with light humour which worked pretty well but has fallen flat in writing especially towards the climax sequences. CG was key to enhancing the portions were fly was a part and the total idea of visualizing the entire story in 3D didn't seem necessary.

Mathew has given a good delivery and his combination with the fly also worked well. Good performances by Prashant Murali,Aswathy Manoharan,Joemon Jyothir,Ashlin,Manoj K Jayan,Ganga Meera & Arun Pradeep. Contributions by sound design,CG,colouring team also needs to be appreciated in enhancing the fantasy world. Soft and gentle music that blended with the story by Vishnu Vijay & Bijibal.

Apart from the minor flaws, Lovely is a passable entertainer with situational humour.

    Super hit

One of the best movies ever. Mind blowing and imaginative content. The Malayalam film industry has never shied away from experimenting with unique storylines and bold concepts. With Lovely, director Dileesh Karunakaran takes a leap into fantasy territory, delivering a charming, visually rich, and emotionally uplifting tale that appeals to both the young and the young at heart.

At the heart of Lovely lies a touching story of an unlikely friendship-between a young government clerk named Boney (played by Mathew Thomas) and a talking housefly, voiced by the vibrant Sivaangi Krishnakumar. While the premise might sound whimsical, the film manages to ground its fantasy elements in real human emotions, making it more than just a visual spectacle.

Boney, a quiet, kind-hearted man, finds himself wrongly imprisoned after a series of unfortunate events. In the loneliness of his confinement, he unexpectedly befriends a fly-who not only talks but becomes his source of comfort, strength, and perspective. What could have easily turned into a cartoonish gimmick is instead handled with sincerity, thanks to thoughtful writing and heartfelt performances.

One of the standout features of Lovely is its cinematography and visual effects. The lush green landscapes of Kerala are beautifully captured, and the 3D sequences are immersive without feeling forced. The scenes between Boney and the fly are surprisingly natural, aided by smooth CGI integration and clever direction. The animation style is colorful yet soft, keeping in line with the emotional tone of the film. Children will be enchanted, and adults will appreciate the imaginative effort.

Mathew Thomas, already known for his natural screen presence, gives an earnest and grounded performance. He portrays Boney with subtlety, making the audience genuinely care about his journey. His chemistry with the animated fly may sound odd on paper, but on screen, it's both heartwarming and believable.

The fly-named Lovely-is truly the soul of the film. Sivaangi Krishnakumar's voice performance brings the character to life, infusing it with humor, empathy, and mischief. Whether offering quirky advice or sharing emotional moments, Lovely becomes more than just a digital companion; she's a reflection of hope and friendship in Boney's darkest times.

While the movie leans heavily on its fantasy elements, it also touches upon themes like isolation, trust, and self-belief. The screenplay may not always dig deep, but its sincerity makes up for the simplicity. The emotional beats work well, especially in the second half, where the story gains momentum and depth.

The background score complements the film perfectly, enhancing the mood without being overbearing. The songs, especially the fantasy-driven dream sequences, are a visual delight and resonate with the film's tone of innocence and wonder.

Critics may argue that the film occasionally plays it safe and that certain scenes feel predictable. But Lovely isn't trying to be a complex or dramatic masterpiece-it's a feel-good film that dares to be different in its approach. In an industry filled with thrillers and intense dramas, Lovely is a breath of fresh air.

    Cinematic masterpiece

One of the absolute best movie ever watched in my entire life. Move over Inception, Interstellar, and literally every movie ever made. Because Lovely 2025 has arrived-like a meteor crashing into the quiet pond of Malayalam cinema, creating ripples of confusion, emotion, and mild existential dread.

From the first second of the opening scene (a drone shot of a coconut tree for absolutely no reason), to the mind-blowing climax (which we're still trying to understand three days later), Lovely 2025 is an unforgettable cinematic rollercoaster-especially if you happen to be strapped in backwards, blindfolded, and slightly dizzy.
