    The human nature

Episode 2 of El Eternauta shifts the focus outward, offering the audience its first real glimpse of the city. The scale of the disaster starts to come into view-not just the physical devastation, but the psychological and moral fallout spreading through what's left of the city.

Ricardo Darin once again delivers a powerful performance, capturing the quiet turmoil and moral weight that Juan Salvo carries with him. In this chapter, Salvo is pushed into unfamiliar and dangerous territory, not only geographically but emotionally. He's no longer just trying to survive the toxic snowfall-he's beginning to understand that people's instincts, when pushed to the edge, can be just as lethal.

The episode places Salvo at multiple crossroads, forcing him to make decisions with no clear right answer. Each choice he makes comes with consequences that ripple outward, affecting not just his fate, but that of those around him. It's in these moments of uncertainty where the show digs deeper into the core of the story-what happens to human nature in moments of true crisis.

There's a strong sense of tension throughout, not driven by constant action, but by the looming threat of both external and internal collapse. The fear is palpable, but so is the fragility of trust. The writing carefully explores how thin the line can be between survival and savagery, between instinct and morality.

Visually, the show continues to impress. The bleak, snow-covered world is haunting, and the sound design reinforces a sense of eerie stillness-broken only by the sharp sounds of survival.

Episode 2 doesn't rely on spectacle; instead, it builds emotional weight and thematic depth. It's a crucial chapter that expands the world while tightening its grip on the characters. And it reminds us that sometimes, the most dangerous enemy isn't the one outside, but the fear and desperation that live within.

    Snow Day in Hel

Juan Salvo finally leaves the safe house and takes a stroll through what's left of Buenos Aires, where toxic snow swirls artfully and death comes with a soft crunch underfoot. He finds a few survivors but can't do anything for them - except look very haunted - before ending up in his ex-wife Elena's building, where humanity is already starting to crumble.

Tensions are high, barbarism is budding, and after a dramatic standoff, Juan manages to escape with Elena in tow.

Back at Tano's, people are also starting to snap, because cabin fever sets in faster than hypothermia.

Visually, it's the strongest episode yet. The contrast between the summery leisure of the victims - caught mid-barbeque, or mid-dip in the pool - and the creeping horror of the snow gives the devastation an eerie beauty. The dead, in their bathing suits and sandals, look absurdly unprepared. Much like the living.

    The Snow Has Teeth

The second episode of El Eternauta raises the stakes and finally shows the deadly nature of the threat. If the first one was all about mood and mystery, this one is where it becomes survival horror. The snow kills-and it does so quietly, which makes it all the more terrifying.

The story remains very contained, and that works in its favor. There are no epic battles or chaotic crowds, but the danger is always present. That quiet tension makes for excellent suspense, and the world feels hauntingly real.

Juan Salvo begins to shift from passive observer to someone who realizes the need to act. The theme of organizing and surviving as a group begins to emerge-something deeply rooted in the original comic. Fear turns into responsibility.

The technical work is still strong. The snowy visuals, the frozen bodies, and the quiet streets give the show a unique flavor. The special effects are subtle but effective, especially in the scenes where the snow shows its true danger.

I give it an 8. The story is gaining momentum, the emotional weight is growing, and there's still a promise of even greater chaos to come. If it keeps this quality, El Eternauta might become one of the best sci-fi series made in Latin America.

    • Goofs
The protagonist cuts the power cord of a turntable, strip the wires and connect them directly to a 12V battery. Since the voltage (220 V) and current type (Alternating Current) are different in house wiring, this would not work.
