Common Enemy

An important documentary showing the wide-ranging impact of animal agriculture.

I feel more should have been done to explain the economics driving the issue. Emphasis is placed on the companies themselves, rather than the consumers keeping them in business. And it's the consumer who is ultimately responsible, all the while engaging in willful ignorance.

The documentary seems to suggest legislation can solve the issue, but there's no way for animal exploitation to occur on this scale and still be sustainable.

There's also no way for it to occur at all and ever be ethical.

Unfortunately, the problem of animal exploitation is framed as one of treatment, not use. But there's no ethical, humane or nice way to view someone as property, and take their lives for profit and palate pleasure. These are individuals who are conscious and aware of the world around them. Their experiences and interests should matter. The scientific consensus is that we don't have to eat them or drink their mothers' milk to live healthy lives.

Anyone with an interest in creating a just world where might doesn't make right should make this point clear.
