There's nothing particularly innovative about this drama, but it's truly enjoyable - even with all the clichés you can imagine. Yes, the story has its flaws, but I believe the show's goal is to make even the most absurd or shocking situations seem funny - and it succeeds at that quite often.
The presence of the child adds a lot to the series. I wouldn't call it innovative, but it's certainly a unique touch that works very well. The boy is surprisingly intelligent for his age and shows increasing maturity as the story progresses.
Despite its many plot issues, I think most of them can be overlooked because the series has a clear purpose: to make the audience laugh and fall in love with the family they've built. In the end, following this story is a very pleasant experience - especially if you don't mind clichés. In fact, it's the clichés that make all the difference here.

_The Love You Give Me_ is a heartwarming Chinese drama that blends romance, redemption, and family into a sweet, emotionally satisfying ride. Adapted from Shi Ding Rou's novel *Ni Gei Wo De Xi Huan*, the series follows Min Hui and Xin Qi-former lovers whose paths cross again five years after a painful breakup, only to discover they share more than just unresolved feelings: they have a son.
The story kicks off with a classic misunderstanding and emotional fallout, but what makes this drama stand out is its gentle exploration of second chances. Min Hui, now a talented R&D director, is strong and independent, while Xin Qi, a successful investment executive, carries the scars of betrayal. Their reunion is anything but smooth, filled with tension, vulnerability, and the slow rebuilding of trust. The presence of their son, Quan Quan-an adorable, sharp-witted child with a congenital heart condition-adds depth and charm to the narrative. His commentary often mirrors the audience's thoughts, making him a delightful emotional anchor.
Wang Yu Wen and Wang Zi Qi deliver compelling performances, with chemistry that feels natural and tender. Their dynamic evolves from guarded co-parents to rekindled lovers, and while the drama leans into familiar tropes, it does so with sincerity and warmth. The pacing is steady, the cinematography soft and inviting, and the soundtrack complements the emotional beats without overwhelming them.
Some viewers might find the plot predictable or the emotional confrontations a bit melodramatic, but that's part of the genre's charm. What _The Love You Give Me_ offers is comfort-a story about healing, forgiveness, and the quiet power of love that endures through time and hardship. It's not groundbreaking, but it's deeply satisfying, especially for fans of romantic dramas with a family twist.
If you're in the mood for something sweet, sincere, and just a little bit tear-jerking, this one's worth your time.

I really wanted to like this but sorry it reiterates a very sexist rhetoric that the mum wasn't doing enough for the kid before the father came along ( despite her having a great relationship with him, giving him everything he needed and working in her great career being successful too) He spent half of the show criticizing her house, her cooking, her decisions about the kid and trying very toxic blackmail buying him toys and playing with him to antagonize them. I know it's supposed to be funny and joking but it's very cringe to me and a huge red flag.
I honestly cant believe this is written by the same writer as Remembrance of things past, what happened???
The show keeps belittling women and mentioning how they are inferior to men in the workforce and they need men to progress and NOT ONCE this is corrected or contradicted by anyone.
It also baffles me the fact that the ML literally imposes his presence into the FL's life and does it literally by force. Then the dialogue is basically that she was lacking, she didn't do enough and the kid was never as happy as he is with the new found dad.
I mean I come from a family where both parents were loving and present but that's not the case for everyone and it saddens me that they are stating a kid cant be happy or full filled with only one parent. Mostly where the FL here has an amazing support system with awesome friends supporting and caring for her and her child.
The secondary and thir storylines with the 2nd Fl and the 2nd ML are quite boring and repetitive.
Overall, lighthearted and fluffy and the highlights of the show are the scenes were the kid is being witty and acting all grown up, he is such a natural actor !

I don't agree with the prior review so I guess we'll have to agree to disagree!! I think this drama reflects a multitude of issues and rather than just key in on one, there're are also others addressed, specifically the issue in workplaces like sexual harassment on the job (which in some instances are still prevalent even though well hidden) & the message being that it shouldn't just be allowed and victims should be strong and stand up for themselves! It also brings awareness of heart/health conditions! Along with that is a very touching love story with added storylines and every instance was well acted with emotion that had our group in tears by the last episode! There's love, angst, humor, anger, sadness...and all of the gamut of emotions are very well acted by the cast!
I absolutely adore the 2 main lead actors!! Their chemistry is so wonderful and believable, as if they are truly a real life couple!! Great drama and I really really hope to see these 2 is many more dramas! Fell in love with their acting in Once We Get Married (awesome) and now this wonderful drama!! Now our group are huge fans of these two...we'll be watching to see their next drama!
The little actor that plays QuanQuan is adorable and one to watch as an actor as he gets older! He does such a good job now...can't wait till he grows up & see how good he'll be then!!
Everyone in this show did really well - casting director, much respect!! Very well cast! 👏👏👏
