Farm Rebellion

This show touched me to the core.

As we sometimes feel, that the world will crash, a bunch of young and good looking people in Brandenburg decided not to give up and change something via farming.

Next to having learnt a lot about ecological farming, I really enjoyed the characters as well. Didn't like all of them, but found all of them interesting.

I also like that they show, that farming is hard work and changing something needs a lot of power.

Also the farming experts coming over/ being visited were very interesting. Funny how many things one has never heard of. (Agroforestry, Syntrophy etc.)

And the beauty of the camera shots is unbelievable. Is it always sundown in Brandenburg? ;)

Ok I saw this advertised on Hulu and thought oh wow this might be a good program about rich banker becoming a farmer (loved "Green Acres" when I was a kid Eddie Albert and Eva Gabor). First thing you have an ultra rich guy who apparently had wealthy parents and family who in turn owned a great deal of land (that's what's suggested in the beginning) then you throw in a bunch of free help to farm this rich guys land. Of particular interest should be the couple who traveled all the way to Germany to learn farming from a guy who is familiar with the "theory" of farming. Let's not even discuss the fact that he is coming from a part of the world where you can literally plant rocks and they will grow. The Incas invented complex agriculture more than 600 years ago (my father is from Peru) of course you could just fly from the United States and learn farming from people who have been farming for generations. This is just complete garbage! Glad I only watched the one episode. Oh, please understand I am sure there are some nice people in this program. And I'm sure they are all LGBTQ...etc friendly (which is not sustainable in itself...two bulls trying join) I noticed that there was a lot of "partners" which only tells me the level of commitment these people have to life.

This film and story has many facets

+ beautiful filmography + a very relevant topic: how to produce food in a sustainable way while combating the effects of climate change + some very inspiring guests (sister of Obama, founder of market-kitchen, a chef from Norway ...)

And yes, some of the main characters are not mainstream, and could be seen as "hippy", "naive" ... and also the story of Paula coming to this farm community and following her experience, for me I would have been fine with more of a documentary approach

Still, if you let yourself immerse into the story, there is a lot of inspiration to take out from. And certain elements that are presented show the way to a better farming-world

So my advice watch at least until the 3rd episode (also ok to jump straight to it), before you turn away.

In my view, a really good series on a very important topic.

Pure (organic) garbage. I was not even able to finish the first episode. It is just another production featuring euro-centered narratives (like we haven't seen enough). The plot revolves around a white rich boy (self-proclaimed a motivational speaker) whom inherited the family business and gathered a bunch of other privileged white people to go to his farm to eat organic food and complain about the climate and how the world is unfair to them, among other white non-sense bs. I couldn't bear watching for longer, so I'm unable to add more details about the plot. But I'm pretty much sure all the 6 episodes are all about the white rich boy playing farm with his white friends.

Recipe for streaming audience's interest? I part "climate change discussion", 1 part "Euro-Hipster" farmers, and lots of talk about "Sustainable Agriculture" and then add Obama's German Speaking Sister as the main ingredient! What do you get, a big pile of steaming fertilizer stew with a side order of annoying dialog and inexperienced farming opinions from an "Investment Banker".

Just from the over the top dramatic trailer and the synopsis, I knew it would not be worth watching, but I had to be fair and give it a shot. After all, I have known to be wrong from time to time, but not in this case! Unfortunately I was right on spot with my prediction of it being some random "documentary" thrown together to add fluff content to Disney's channel. Disney's philosophy in this case must be "If you can't impress the audience with interesting fact, baffle them with your B. S content"
