    Intriguing film

Historical material I was unaware of, sad, tragic, emotional and a great portrayal of a woman of her time and culture who was basically controlled by her mother. At one point when things were reaching a crescendo she accused her mother of hating woman. Lots of political context that was happening in the 30's Spain. This film got me to explore more about this person and the historical context. Was good to learn more about the people portrayed. The actual Ng was of a high standard. I particularly enjoyed the performance of their housekeeper. Love and passion in the main characters development which her mother saw as losing control. The pace is somewhat slow but this probably says more about me. Would definitely recommend to watch this movie.

We are all robots that our parents wanted us to be.

A real life story that explores the shallow mindset of Spain at that time.

In order for the film to grip you, you need to focus and be interested in something else. Otherwise, you will feel its stagnation. If you focus, it flows.

It is a psychologically heavy drama, the reason I deducted points is because I would have liked to have taken a general look at Spain at that time from a visual perspective and watched a visual feast by giving a little more space to the patriarchal vandalism of that period, but it is a pity that it was a limited production and locations, other than that it conveys the intended subject.

The True Story of a Girl Created by Her Mother to Change the World

A stunning historical political drama from Spain in the 1930s about a modern mother who aims to raise her daughter as a genius destined to transform the world according to her ideological vision - combining Sigmund Freud, Friedrich Nietzsche, and Karl Marx in a single individual. The young girl is an incredibly brilliant prodigy, despite living primarily within the confines of her home.

The film portrays societal transformation through Spain's first democratic election, with her serving as the intellectual core of the winning political party. As she ventures into the wider world, her relationship with her mother becomes increasingly conflicted. The narrative unfolds as a dramatic philosophical and political dialogue, rich with intellectual debate and passionate exchanges.

Those deeply passionate about politics will especially appreciate this film, and it's particularly recommended for those who are drawn to pure ideological narratives. An absolute must-watch for those who love intellectual and political discourse.

Change the world ... make it a better place

I know it is "heal the world", but since there is not really a Michael Jackson connection ... and also no pun intended, I thought I'd get this out of the way ... in my usual style and manner of course.

Not an easy movie to watch. When I read the first summary, I was quite sure that our main character is working and being formed by her mother ... while that is not entirely untrue ... there is way more to her and the relationship they have. Calling it tough love would be an understatement ... which interests are being pursued ... even by standards that she is setting. Who is this for? Which dream is being pursued? And does it make sense .... great acting, very well shot ... and a tight story (that is based on reality apparently)
