House of the Unholy

Despite it being a short this felt so incredibly long, mostly because nothing that happened was making any logical sense. There were so many parts where I felt like this was an idea sprung from that of a music video concept that they tried to pretend was a short film. I saw many things borrowed from The Weeknd, Gaga, and many other visual artists who have a more grounded sense of their own style. This, however, fell so incredibly flat. From the cheap-looking costumes, to the incoherent plot, I felt like this was just, as many have already pointed out, a bad acid trip. I can't imagine what awards this this has won, or why the writers are talking about a feature-length version of what feels like 3 pages worth of material. I would just skip this.

I caught this at the DaVinci film festival at the AMC theater in Hollywood .It won best short film .

What an incredible journey of filmmaking ! Post-apocalyptic, grindhouse, 70's martial arts and anime. Influences from big trouble in little china, dark crystal, the hobbit, and more.

The live action fighting mixed with 2D animation effect and the cut from live action to the 2D anime scene is brilliant.

The costumes and stage sets were delightful .The filmmakers have fun by adding a bit of campiness and don't take themselves to serious .

Looking forward to seeing this as a Netflix type of series or a full length feature . Bravo !
