The idea of the movie and the concept are not really bad. It has some mystic feel to it and it kind of give a "backrooms" vibe, which is a nice start. The concept of door so another dimensions and backroom with Pandamonium and other things actually sound like a good idea.
However... Acting is terrible. Sorry, I like when actors are normal looking people and it gives "real life" vibe instead of "movie" vibe if you know what I mean. I like the cheap look and normal looking people and kind of realistic surroundings. But, that does not excuse bad acting. The reactions of characters, the lines, are just bad, bad, bad, there is no realism no realistic lines or behavior nowhere to find. They do not have a shred of believability. It just looks like a student or school play.
Cheap effects are also fine, don't mind it, but they didn't even try. It looks like this movie costs circa 500$ or so. There is barely anything that can not be cheaply built or made by some freeware 3D software. It's like they didn't even try.
In conclusion, there is something there, and it's fun, but cheapness kind of killed this movie.

I'm sorry, just being honest, it was terrible.
The who faux documentary thing is far beyond played out, but I thought maybe, just maybe this one might be interesting. Nope.
It just didn't make any sense, nothing was believable. (Yes I know sci-fi and fantasy don't have to be realistic, but they need to create a believable fantasy world). The acting was all over the place. Some good, some bad, mostly mediocre. No one reacts to anything the way you'd expect normal humans to react. It was just so bad. It really felt like I was watching the final group project for an undergrad cinema class. But, I paid for it. Ugh.

I'll give the crew a 3 because they seemed to have fun with it and I didn't just walk away but watched the whole thing.
I have to say that I can't understand anyone who would give this a 5 or higher, let alone the critical acclaim it has received over on Rotten Tomatoes, but here we are, and such is life. In this respect it's not dissimilar (actually better because not as long and nowhere near as repetitive) to the also critically acclaimed "Hard to be a god", which I would have walked out off if my company - both of them! - hadn't fallen asleep.
Portals, chalk circles, .... not even the the shaky cam work can be considered original, so I can't see how anyone would deem this innovative. Looks like something my kid and his mates could have done and had fun with (and I might even have praised them).

I love movies like this! I don't care how slow burn or how low budget they are. This was pretty fun overall. I would def watch it if the premise sounds interesting to you. But go in w certain expectations.
Two things for me I think: 1) The script seems like it needed a few more edits. It does feel like there are slightly too many things going on, but I don't think so. I think it just feels that way bc there needs to be better character distinction and understanding of each person's motives. There were some points where a character would say or do something that no human would want to say or do, just to get the plot where it was going. Therefore the character work just wasn't strong enough IMO.
2) I feel bad but.. the acting. There are several times when these people have just witnessed something they could have never possibly imagined. Their brain should be breaking and they should have stunned tears in their eyes. But their reactions are just never proportionate to what's going on. Same goes for any "scary" parts. Instead of wide eyed, screaming, piss-your-pants level fear, it's like "run! Hurry! Close the door! Omg what was that, ew".
Idk this needed to be focused grouped several more times. The premise and low budget effects and casual humor were really good though!

This film has a very good premise, but it miss it landing. The bones are good. I love other dimensions type stories, but this film lacks substance.
My criticism have nothing to do with the low-budget aspect of the film. I don't need flashing CGI, or special effects; I use my imagination on novels all the time, so I can be drawn to a good story. However, there is basically no story here. You can watch the preview is that basically the whole movie. See this door, see it goes to different dimensions, see me run through it, see we find so random dude who happen to be expert at interdimensional doorway travel, see I am an expert at it now...
My first issue is the acting is terrible. I seen better acting in high school plays. The actors to not delivery on emotion. So their reactions seem like people trying to act a part, rather than people just living their lives (especially, since this is a lost tape style movie, so they should come off as regular people).
Next is the film is just weird. There are so many potholes that it just confusing. It hard to find people's motivation for their actions, so everything seems dumb and unbelievable.
