Praying to Janus is one of the most unique films of 2012. By this I mean that it is extraordinarily terrible in a way that no other movie has ever been. The characters are boring, the plot is unambitious, and the dialog is flat. But perhaps the worst quality of the movie is the terrible production job by producer Sean Nelis. It shows very clearly in the movie that Nelis' contribution was minimal and unprofessional, and movie's budget clearly went to waste. The entire movie takes place in a single room, with a single camera shot spanning the entire course of the story. It's obvious that the producer didn't think it would be worth using any of the money on a cameraman nor on any other filming locations, but luckily managed to scrape together enough to buy a tripod and some actors he likely found off the street. The editing job is poor, if not nonexistent: all 67 takes of the final scene were kept in the final product, without even editing out the shots of the slate board. I left the theater feeling angry, confused, but above all embarrassed that I had to waste two hours and twelve minutes of my life that could have been devoted to doing literally anything else. Four stars and two thumbs down. I'd rather slam my fingers in a car door than ever watch this again.
