Charlie Holmes is a shy and somewhat awkward French police officer who lives with her grandfather... she is also the great-granddaughter of Sherlock Holmes! Following a minor traffic accident where she bumped her head she suddenly finds she intuitively knows just watch each piece of information signifies. Now she is solving just about every case. Working alongside her is Samy, a Watson to her Holmes. Her new success does lead to irritability from the station's more established detectives. As the story progresses she learns more about her family's past.
I thought this series was a lot of fun. If you are hoping for something like traditional Sherlock Holmes stories you'll probably be disappointed but if you want light hearted entertainment with plenty of laughs and cases that are solved within a single episode then this is well worth a watch. The characters are fun with the cast doing a fine job; especially Lola Dewaere who plays Charlie. The cases are nicely varied; interestingly for such a series they don't all include murders. Overall I'd recommend this to fans Euro drama looking for something a bit lighter; hopefully we'll be getting the next season soon as the first ends on a bit of a cliffhanger.
These comments are based on watching the the first season in French with English subtitles.

I'm only three episodes in, but I'm loving the on-screen chemistry between Lola Dewaere and Tom VIlla. Seeing them together again post-'Astrid et Raphaëlle' is a treat, and they pull the scenes together wonderfully. The premise is simple yet engaging, the sets are gorgeous, the direction is superb, and the score is beautifully crafted. This one's a winner so far, and I'm finding a bit of everything to like in this light crime drama.
We love the actress in the lead role here Lola Dewaere. She played Raphaelle in the series Astrid. Decent acting decent writing I believe. The characters seem well developed as much as one can see in the first episode. I like the animation of the characters in French productions and the pace of the dialog is another feature that makes these series so interesting to me.
I largely enjoyed the first season of this French Sherlock Holmes spinoff. The basic plot is that a quirky French detective is the granddaughter of Sherlock Holmes and inherited his ability to solve mysteries. However, the emphasis is on quirky comedy than about the mysteries. As several other reviewers have noted, the plots tend to come off as too convenient, with the solutions resulting from surprise revelations more than laying out the clues and having the detective put it all together. I would recommend this series for those who enjoy shows like Death in Paradise, Sister Boniface Mysteries, and the like.
The gimmick in this series here is that the title character is Sherlock Holmes's great-granddaughter. It starts out with the Mlle. Holmes as the proverbial hot mess, off her meds for bipolar disorder, and struggling to function. Police work allows her to channel her energy, intellect, and sensitivities, and she improves. She has the brilliant observational skills and deductive mind of her namesake, and we get dragged along with her and her Watson-standin protege Samy as she cleverly solves cases and provides closure and compassion for the families affected by crime. For fans of the cozy mystery genre, there is a dearth of gore. The title character is highly unorthodox, and we see her angst and self-doubt more than is usual in police procedurals. There are lots of affectionate nods to the Sherlock Holmes tradition--the rivalry with Moriarty, in particular. A fresh twist on the old tropes. Very entertaining.
