Great to have all the facts

Wonderful to watch this well produced documentary after viewing The Lost King. The journey, almost from the start of the dig, is well laid out, the excitement and facts constantly building up as each new find is added on.

I do have a complaint though. Simon Farnaby, who really just inserted himself into this, has made himself very much the focus and voice of the find even though he had so very little to do with it. He is just a host - nothing more. It is such a shame that he purposefully overshadows the actual team behind the discovery instead of playing the narrator, explaining the story as we go along. The whole time it's "our skeleton" even though he is just following along as the real experts lead the way. Quite a turn off.

Far superiour to the fiction of The Lost King

Watching the 2022 film The Lost King based on the events of Philippa Langley's mission to discover the location of King Richard the Third and to address the inconsistencies in how he is represented in history, this documentary presents actually real time footage of the events portrayed in the Film, but in a much more interesting and respectful way. This is a feel good experience where as The Lost King is all about fabricating conflict and is the worse for it.

There is a life affirming story of strength and determination, an interesting story on the misrepresentation of a historical figure presented in a transparent and honest way. Simon Farnaby's presentation is charming compassionate and friendly, and I'd much rather be in the world that he presents than the pretentiously over dramatised fiction of the movie version of events.

Thanks for making this wonderful entertaining and uplifting story that makes the world a better place. We're so lucky this exists. Right place, right time.

    • Trivia
Broadcast in North America by the Smithsonian Channel under the title "The King's Skeleton: Richard III Revealed". A few months after the U.S. premiere, the Smithsonian Channel aired Richard III Revealed (2013), an episode of the one-hour series "Secrets" which focused on the same material. The series "Secrets" was a British-Canadian co-production known internationally as "Treasures Decoded", but the "Richard III Revealed" episode is not listed among episodes shown outside the U.S. Since the Smithsonian Channel secured exclusive broadcast rights in North America for this documentary, it could presumably use material from the film to create the somewhat shorter "Secrets" episode, but distributors of "Treasures Decoded" elsewhere around the globe may not have had the same permission to feature material from the documentary.
