Mummy Cop the Series

Stilted dialogue, preposterous histrionic characters, & inconsistent audio are all intentionally embraced in this absurd web series called "Mummy Cop".

It's clear that the cast and crew know each other well and that the process is joyous and collaborative. I'm really a fan of the father-son acting duo in this series as well. It kind of reminds me of super early Michel Gondry or Robert Rodriguez in the way that the filmmaker works with what he has and stretches a budget to make something spontaneous and entertaining.

My only suggestion for this series is that the content could be more intentionally subversive. It's got to dig a little deeper at Cop Genre characters or Cops IRL to keep people continuously interested in the escapist narrative.

All things aside, it's really impressive that a watchable action series exists online with such a limited budget. In spite of these constraints, the cinematography, sound design, & acting never get in the way of a legible story. Great Job!

I enjoyed "mummy cop" season 1 and 2 a lot. There is a lot of horror fan boy story lines interwoven with interesting buddy-cop subplots. The series doesn't take itself to seriously and is a fun watch. The characters develop rather quickly and the end of season 1 and the final episode of season 2 have some really fun quirky special effects. The acting, fight scenes and mummy cop's interactions with "Lisa Canoli" are very entertaining. I hope there is a season 3! The masks and creature costumes from Season 2 were great and hope to see some of those characters return next time. I felt the acting had improved in the 2nd season.

This is one of the few web series I make sure to watch every single episode. Each episode is ridiculously hilarious. It's one of those shows that you can't believe they just said that, but you can't stop laughing at it. As the series goes on, the makeup and special FX get better. The cast expands with a ton of fun "monster" characters. Kimberly Graf (Lisa Canoli) is amazing in the crazy villain role. It's always fun to see the classic cop show turned on it's head. The super serious SVU gets old quickly. This is fun, crazy, and Mummy Cop is not the perfect stoic good guy. Who thought a dead guy could freshen up an old genre? I already own the first season on DVD. Can't wait for the second season to come out on disc, too!
