Don't believe the haters - this is a crackin low budget thriller

Simple gritty scenes of bike chases, raves and fights. A decent movie about family revenge. No-ones going to win an oscar for this but it will keep you engaged for 90-minutes and if you like old skool rave then the soundtrack and rave scenes are great fun.

Don't believe all the negative reviews, you'll know if you like it in the first ten minutes. If you like any sort of revenge / chase movies then this is for you. If you also like bikes / rave toons then you'll love it. It's rare I check out the sound track of a movie afterwards but I'll be checking this one out - some classics that had me waving my glowsticks!.

A good run all night film

I like what the writers were trying to do here. I am a sucker for the run all night kinds of films, just thrown into the action and barely getting an escape from it. But if anything I wanted more depth from the film and characters and it just didn't have enough time.

I loved the overall atmosphere of the film, the foggy and dark night time settings and the music was just on point and great the entire time.

The film is totally worth a watch, I enjoyed it in the end.

Also I have loved Oliver Jackson-Cohen ever since I first saw him in Faster(2010) so I had to watch this one and he really does a great job once again in his acting delivery.

Give it a chance if you are a sucker for these kind movies like me.

    good action

Jackdaw was a surprisingly an alright action crime film. Olvier jackson coen plays jack dawson, a ex army and motobike champion who tries to provide for his brother. He takes a job but it seems very shaddy and you already know that the guy is a double crosser, falsing jack into a fight, after relising it was a distracion to kidnap the brother. We also get jenna colman playing bo, jacks ex who actually has some pretty good fight in her aswell. The actually fighting and action elements worked well in this film, acting was decent enough and believable and I just think overall jackdaw was a good crime film.

    Good english thriller

I liked how it starts: no classic first act, straight into the action, with chases and a dark tone mixed with some black humor that gives it personality (little touches like the horse actually work). I also found it refreshing to have an action lead who isn't a superhero, but rather a flawed, tired, sensitive guy with a backstory that makes him more human.

The film is definitely dark, but it has flashes of life thanks to a cast that knows how to elevate every scene. Even when the dialogue feels weak, the actors make it sound natural, and Jenna Coleman in particular manages to sell lines that could have fallen flat. The action sequences also have this wild, over-the-top quality-motorbikes, jet skis, horses, boats... you name it. Plus, I appreciated the underlying message about breaking the cycle of violence, which gives the story more weight than your average violent thriller.

On the downside, the plot stalls a bit when it introduces some uninteresting villains, and it's not always easy to connect with the characters. The overuse of shaky cam also wore me out, often mistaking motion for excitement. In the end, while it works as an indie action thriller and has its moments, it didn't leave much of an emotional or lasting impact on me.

    Decent enough

"Jackdaw" is a dark Brittish thriller that looked like it could be cool with its badass hero and plenty of motorbike action. Plus it also stars Jenna Coleman and "This is Englands" Thomas Turgoose which is a bonus. But I wanted to like it more.

There are some decent little chases and shootouts, and a genuinely scary looking villian. But the plot is pretty straightforward and more and more unlikely things happen as it all comes to a finale that just fizzles out.

Its still decent enough though with its promising start, its overall style and cool music. As well as its nice cast. Still making for an above average gritty movie.
