The union between Timothée Chalamet and Apple is on fire again with this sequel to the previous ad yet bringing the same idea of the movie star waiting to get a call
from the brand to be part of one of their projects. More of the same but they can't fail and they don't. But the spectacle from the previous entry was more fun and a little
longer which makes this one pale a little bit in comparison since it feels like a spur of the moment rather than a thoughout plan. It works just as nice to sell the brand,
inviting potential new viewers since the routine of naming the stars of their projects, series and films are the key factors to attract people.
The brief concept is of Timmy skimming through his tablet while at home and waiting for his meal to come while a cook is preparing it and they're sharing thoughts about
the Apple products Timmy is seeing. It doesn't move from such scenario unlike the other commercial where he goes to several places. But fans of his will be delighted to see
a special reference to "Call Me by Your Name" (blink and miss, but I had to be reminded of that by others). It's amusing to watch but without that special variation which the
first ad was so special echoing the sadness from the man for being left out of a huge enterprise (a fun and sad scenario all at once).
But what baffled me was the reaction coming from viewers outside of his fans in some website elsewhere. I'm disappointed to see disparaging or annoyed commentaries of
folks saying "they are tired of this kid" and more shocking was things like "Who is this guy?" as in not knowing Chalamet at all, which makes me wonder what people are
watching these days. For TV addicts I can understand the thought since Timmy he's far from TV for a long time ("Homeland" and "Royal Pains" minor roles) and he's exclusively
committed to cinema projects and that raises a second question: since the majority of people go to the movies to watch the spectacle of visual effects and heroes all around
where were you when the remake of "Dune" came out? Forget about his other films (all excellent by the way) but to have missed "Dune" when it was the talk of the town with a
sequel on the way is unforgiveable. Just a thought.
Again, I had my fun with the ad but it could and should be longer and funnier. 9/10.
