Summary
Reviewers say 'Azaad' offers a unique storyline and strong performances, especially from Aaman Devgan and Rasha Thadani, whose acting and screen presence are highly praised. The emotional bond between a human and a horse is seen as refreshing and engaging. However, some criticize the pacing, script, CGI, and music, which they believe detract from the experience. Despite these issues, many find the heartfelt moments and lead performances make the movie worthwhile.

I almost didn't watch this movie because of the poor rating. But, my wife and I wanted to see how the newcomers performed. Was waiting for a dull moment because of the rating but the movie finished and we couldn't find any. We both are animal lovers and we loved how the film was centered around azaad. We could predict certain things in the movie but that's okay. It didn't have surprising twists and plots that will keep you on edge but the story itself is nice and will keep you occupied. The direction was good and the VFX was decent too. Both Aaman and Rasha performed really well. Overall, the movie is a decent watch.
Amazing debut. Thankgod it didn't turn out like the other nepo kids' debut like naadaniyan etc. I don't see the unnecessary hate here, movie kept me engaged throughout. I agree it was a little slow in the middle but the cutesy romance and the final showdown and ajay devgans incredible perfomance make this def worth watching. It is a strong 8/10 for me but people are unnecessarily hating so I'm giving a 10 just to raise the average :) watch on tv or a bigger screen btw bec phone or smaller devices won't cater to the best experience designated for the film. Uii amma felt kind of forced but it's okay the other soundtracks were definitely way better than nowadays bollywood. This movie made me v charismatic towards horses and I love it.
It was incredibly well performed and the bond between ajays son (sorry I forgot his name)and the horse azaad was incredibly well displayed. Do watch it!

Azaad is a period drama brought to life by Abhishek Kapoor, offering a unique and fresh storyline that stands apart from the usual fare. In terms of concept, the film excels - the narrative feels original, and the man-and-horse bond is beautifully portrayed on screen. Visually, it's a treat, with stunning real locations and rich color grading that immerse you in the setting.
However, the biggest drawback lies in the screenplay. While the story is strong, the execution is stretched with unnecessary subplots, making the pacing drag at times. A tight, focused screenplay would have amplified the impact and kept the audience more engaged throughout.
Direction shines in certain moments, particularly during the horse sequences, which are handled with precision and emotional weight. The music complements the visuals perfectly, further enhancing the atmosphere.
Performance-wise, Aaman Devgn makes a promising lead debut, bringing a solid presence to the role. Rasha Thadani, in her debut as well, is a standout - she looks fabulous, exudes confidence, and has a striking screen presence, especially in the song sequences where her beauty and charisma really pop.
Overall, Azaad is a decent watch with memorable moments, driven by strong lead performances and captivating horse scenes. While the weak and overly long screenplay holds it back, the film still offers enough visual and emotional appeal to keep you invested until the end.
Rating: 5/10.

I recently watched the movie on OTT and honestly it's not half bad. I enjoyed the performances and the movie overall, it was a nice one time watch.
Enjoyed Aaman Devgan's performance, he had a good screen presence or maybe the other debuts have been so bad that he seemed fine in comparison. It felt very sincere but other characters didnt have much weight and felt gimmicky.
Liked that the movie was animal centric and didn't over indulge in unnecessary love stories.
Overall a good watch on OTT, maybe in the theatre this might have been disappointing.
I'm honestly looking forward to Aaman's next performances.

Overview:
This movie was entertaining enough, with an interesting and novel storyline. However, it was just too long, cutting 30 minutes of the movie would have served it well to make the story more compact and engaging. Let's be clear the purpose of this movie was to launch two new actors Aaman Devgan and Rasha Thadani and with that in mind it did give the two young actors plenty of screentime to showcase their acting chops.
The movie was clearly an opportunity to launch 2 "star kids" but was done with a unique storyline which I did appreciate.
Plot: This period piece centers around village boy Govind (Aaman Devgan), and his love for horses. As a peasant he does not have money to access or own a horse of his own. Through a series of events, he ends up joining the gang of freedom fighter Vikram Singh (Ajay Devgn), and later on inherits his legendary horse, Azaad. The rest of the movie is about him bonding with this impressive horse as well as helping his village folk out of their debt struggles. This is interlaced with a love story with daughter of the landlord, Janaki (Rasha Thadani).
Acting: I was really impressed by Aaman Devgan as an actor. In the role of Govind, he put in a solid showing with what was potentially a challenging role. Excited to see more of him as he clearly has acting talent and is a good dancer as well. Rasha Thadani on the other hand was more of a disappointment, her accent was not great for the role she was playing, she was not able to get rid of that South Bombay accent. Also, there was some really unbelievable fake crying from her. That being said her portrayal was not terrible and it is her first movie, we could see improvement from her yet. All other performances are decent with nothing exceptional, and Ajay Devgn makes a brief appearance mostly to support his nephew.
Music: Music is generally good and adds to what is going on onscreen.
Conclusion: Worth a watch, it is entertaining, but it isn't going to blow you away. You will also probably find it repetitive and draggy in the middle.
