Hollywood has a knack for never letting a good spy retire in peace. Just ask James Bond, Ethan Hunt, or, in this case, Jason Bourne. It turns out that if you’re an amnesiac superspy with a talent for surviving impossible situations, you don’t just disappear, you go on an extended vacation until a major studio decides it’s time to dust you off.
Now, Jason Bourne is back in the headlines, not for a new adventure, but because the rights to his franchise are up for grabs. The fight is about to get as intense as one of his famous car chases through European streets.

So, who’s trying to claim Bourne’s allegiance? Some of the biggest players in Hollywood and streaming, are Universal, Netflix, Apple, and Skydance. Each of them sees the potential of bringing the shaky-cam king back to action,...

Apple’s video streaming business is still firmly in the red, according to a new report.
The Apple TV+ premium subscription service is losing more than $1 billion per year, according to an anonymously sourced report by The Information published Thursday. The tech giant is spending around $4.5 billion on content annually, down from $5 billion in past years, according to the article. Apple TV+ — which features virtually an all-original lineup — has about 45 million subscribers, per the report.
Reps for Apple did not respond to a request for comment.
Of course, $1 billion in annual losses are practically a rounding error for Apple in the context of its overall business, which is mostly fueled by iPhone sales. Apple generated $391 billion in revenue and posted a net profit of $93.7 billion for its fiscal year ended in September 2024.
The company does not disclose financial or subscriber metrics for Apple TV+. The streaming business is part of Apple’s Services segment,...

Forty years ago, author William Gibson brought the world a cyberpunk novel called Neuromancer – and an adaptation of that story has been trudging its way through development hell pretty much ever since. Versions of a feature film adaptation have passed through the hands of directors like music video maker Chris Cunningham, A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors and The Blob‘s Chuck Russell, Torque‘s Joseph Kahn, Cube‘s Vincenzo Natali, and Deadpool‘s Tim Miller. An adaptation of Neuromancer is currently moving forward as a 10-episode series that’s set up at Apple TV+, and Deadline reports that Dane DeHaan of Oppenheimer and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has signed on to play a character named Peter Riviera.
In the source material, Peter Riviera was “a thief and sadist who can project holographic images.” Which sounds like a great character for Dane DeHaan to play.

MGM’s new Robin HoodTV series has just moved that much closer to entering production. The series will follow the tale of Robin Hood, sometimes Robin of Locksley, and Maid Marian during England’s Middle Ages.
Robin Hood, a bandit who is more myth and folk hero than real person, is a Nottingham-based myth and subject of many films and shows - good and bad alike. The "who" of who plays Robin Hood in these adaptions has always been a starter of great discussion - and sometimes, controversy - though Robin Hood is nothing without Marian, and MGM just cast theirs, per Deadline.
Who’s Playing Maid Marian?
The actress cast in the role of Robin Hood’s love interest is Lauren McQueen, who has previously appeared on Apple TV’s Masters of the Air as well as British soap opera Hollyoaks. She also recently wrapped filming for the Outlander prequel,...

The award for documentary feature went to “Music by John Williams,” which triumphed in a music-dominated category; other nominees included “Elton John: Never Too Late” and “I Am: Celine Dion.” The television non-fiction category was won by the music-centered “Beatles ’64.”

Apple TV+'sMasters of the Air was a standout success in 2024, bringing key moments of World War II to life with historical accuracy. One storyline that received some focus was the Tuskegee Airmen, the first Black military pilots in U.S. history. However, while the series highlights their heroism, many aspects of their story are left untold. Fortunately, HBO’s film The Tuskegee Airmen offers a closer look at their story.
Featuring a star-studded cast, including Laurence Fishburne, the film dramatizes the Airmen’s experiences. While Masters of the Air provides an interesting but limited depiction, The Tuskegee Airmen presents a more detailed account of the challenges these men faced, making it essential viewing for anyone wanting to fully understand this incredible chapter in history.

We first heard that Cape Fear was being adapted for the small screen back in 2023, and late last year,it was announced that Apple TV+ has ordered a 10-episode series with Nick Antosca on board as writer, executive producer, and showrunner.
The project also has two filmmaking legends involved, with Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese set to executive produce.
Javier Bardem is set to play Max Cady, and Deadline is now reporting that he'll be joined by Amy Adams as Amanda Bowden. The Academy Award-nominee is also on board as an executive producer.
With Adams in this role, there's a good chance her character will be brought more to the forefront, and there's speculation that Amanda will be Cady's former attorney in this take on the story (the synopsis below may support this).

Band of Brothers has always remained on the peripheries of great television – critically revered but never quite as celebrated as other HBO projects like Game of Thrones or The Sopranos. However, Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks’s sensational work isn’t just another war story filled with gritty realism and unfiltered horrors of war.
Band of Brothers [Credit: HBO]
The HBO miniseries defied genres and shifted the preconceived standards of television to establish a tale that surpassed expectations and redefined storytelling. Band of Brothers proved that fiction concedes when compared to the horrors of reality itself, especially when it comes to the subjects of blood, trauma, doom, and death.
And one member of the Easy Company in the real-life Band of Brothers knew it all too well.

In a moment near the end of our interview at the IndieWire Studio at Sundance, presented by Dropbox, Callum Turner gets sheepish about dropping a certain four-letter word. The British actor asks if he’s going to be bleeped. When I say that he won’t — IndieWire is edgy and won’t tolerate censorship! — he says he actually really wants, perhaps desperately, to be bleeped.
Perhaps it’s the kind of American talk show convention the 34-year-old Londoner wants to embrace as he continues to make a mark in the U.S. The rising star has already been in “Green Room,” “Emma,” “The Boys in the Boat,” as well as “Masters of the Air,” but late night show ubiquity still lies ahead for him. And it’s gonna happen.
The frantic desire to be bleeped certainly captures the manic energy of his new, cockeyed rom-com, “Atropia,” directed by Hailey Gates and co-starring Alia Shawkat.

Turner has recently found himself becoming a lead actor in high-profile projects, including The Boys in the Boat and Masters of the Air. These projects have seen him working with Hollywood legends like Steven Spielberg and George Clooney. “Kneecap” — the Irish-language music biopic that became one of the buzziest indie films of 2024 and is now tipped for both Oscar and BAFTA recognition — has, perhaps unsurprisingly, emerged far ahead of the pack of nominees for the 2025 Irish Film & TV Academy (IFTA) awards.
Rich Peppiatt’s raucous comedy, about (and starring) the Belfast rap trio of the same name, has landed an astonishing 17 nominations for the awards, including best film, director, three of the six slots for lead actor, three of the six for supporting actress and one for Michael Fassbender in the supporting actor category.
“Small Things Like These,” the considerably quieter Irish drama fronted (and produced) by Cillian Murphy has nine nominations, including lead actor for Murphy, who won the award last year for “Oppenheimer.”
Having been co-produced by Irish company Tailored Films, Ali Abbasi’s Donald Trump biopic “The Apprentice” is also in the mix, with four nominations.
