Violet and Madeleine, best known for their work on genre films like M3GAN and The Black Phone, respectively, will collaborate on a holiday feature described as a mix of two legendary Christmas movies: Home Alone and Die Hard. Variety reports that the yet-to-be-named movie will begin filming in Las Vegas next month.
Madeleine, the older of the sisters, began her career with early roles in films like American Sniper before working on the series Outcast and voicing Bonnie in Toy Story 4. Her breakout performance as Gwen Blake in The Black Phone earned her critical acclaim. Madeleine's other credits include the Disney Channel's Secrets of Sulphur Springs and Ant-Man and the Wasp. 2024 was a massively successful year for horror movies, especially those from independent studios. With notable titles like A24's Heretic and a wide selection from Neon, including Longlegs, Cuckoo and Immaculate, the horror field saw an increase in audience reception. Looking toward the cinematic lineup in 2025, it's clear that the refreshing wave of new horror films is only growing.
Whether it's expanding franchises with anticipated, blood-curdling sequels or fresh takes on pre-established horror stories, 2025 contains a diversity of works that will have audiences squealing with joy and fear. If this year's releases are anywhere near replicative of last year's, long-time horror fans and apprehensive newcomers are in for a truly terrifying year.

Rlje Films' new comedy slasher film Bloody Axe Wound is heading to Shudder, the horror-focused streaming platform. This follows the theatrical release of the movie in December 2024.
Shudder has announced that Bloody Axe Wound is set to start streaming exclusively on the platform on March 21, 2025. Written and directed by Matthew John Lawrence, the film features a special appearance from The Walking Dead: Dead City star Jeffrey Dean Morgan. It's a role that the actor was all too happy to take on, as it gave him another opportunity to get violent — something he's proven himself to be quite capable of on-screen.

M3GANwas a surprise horror hit in 2023, with the movie becoming a veritable meme with its success. Now, the first footage of its follow-up has finally been released, and it's already making all the right moves. This is exactly what the production company behind the film needs, especially given recent releases.
Blumhouse was once synonymous with the horror genre in the 2010s, with the studio seeing several major hits that scared up a lot of money at the box office. In the past few years, however, there's been a saddening case of diminishing returns and a tarnished reputation for the studio. M3GAN 2.0 can help turn that around, but if it fails to achieve this, it can potentially do even more damage.

M3GAN was a massive success in 2022 when the artificial intelligence doll slayed its way onto the top of the box office charts. A sequel was an obvious move, despite M3GAN's ending at the end of the film, and now she's ready to show off her killer moves again in M3GAN 2.0.
One of the most discussed moments of 2022's M3GAN was the "killer dance" of the robot doll when slaying people to an old disco song, The Skatt Bros.' "Walk the Night." Looking at the way the dance went viral, the creative team for the sequel is ready to test the moves again. M3GAN 2.0 unveiled the first look at the upcoming doll with a Super Bowl trailer, this time, more modern, per a video shared by the official page on X.

Even if viewership dips slightly, the Super Bowl remains the biggest television event in the U.S. With Kendrick Lamar headlining the halftime show—along with some rumored surprise guests—there’s still a strong chance the audience will land somewhere between 115 and 123 million viewers.
That massive reach makes Super Bowl ad space some of the most expensive in the industry, with 30-second spots going for around $8 million.
Hollywood studios aren’t holding back when it comes to promoting their biggest films. Apple and Warner Bros. have already spent big to showcase F1, an upcoming Formula 1 drama directed by Joseph Kosinski and starring Brad Pitt. Meanwhile, Marvel Studios released an early look at The Fantastic Four: First Steps ahead of the big game, with another spot planned for Thunderbolts.

During economic uncertainty, movies are typically a great escape; traditionally, going to the movies is a cheaper entertainment alternative. However, ticket prices have increased quite a bit over the past decade, while the average American income has not, which has made the idea of streaming movies at home a more attractive – and affordable – alternative. There’s a lot of good stuff coming down the pipeline for horror fans over the next year. Audiences have already been treated to Drew Hancock’s feature-length directorial debut, Companion, and also have titles like Osgood Perkins’ The Monkey, Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, and Josh Ruben’s Heart Eyes to look forward to. Meanwhile, there are a slew of next chapters in already established franchises, like Final Destination: Bloodlines, The Conjuring: Last Rites, and the untitled I Know What You Did Last Summersequel. Mixed in with the others will be the return of the dancing AI helper turned hunter in Gerard Johnstone’s M3GAN 2.0. While not much has been released about the M3GAN follow-up at this time, save for a brief teaser set to Chappell Roan’s “Femininomenon,” audiences can’t wait to see the killer bot back in action following the 2022 breakaway movie.

The murderous doll who captivated pop culture in 2023 is back in the teaser trailer for M3GAN 2.0, and this time she’s not alone. The film will be in theaters on June 27, 2025.

The world’s most infamous A.I. companion is back, and this time, she has competition. M3GAN 2.0, the highly anticipated sequel to 2023’s breakout horror hit, has unveiled a new teaser and artwork, setting the stage for an even more chaotic chapter in the saga of artificial intelligence gone rogue. The film is set to hit cinemas on June 27, 2025.
Produced by James Wan and Jason Blum, with returning director Gerard Johnstone at the helm, M3GAN 2.0 expands on the themes of technology and control introduced in the first film. Allison Williams (Get Out) reprises her role as Gemma, the roboticist whose creation spiralled into murder and mayhem. The first teaser for this year’s sequel to 2022’s sci-fi horror hit M3GAN, M3GAN 2.0, has now sashayed its way online. And, while the footage doesn’t reveal much from the movie, instead reminding us of the viral dance routine from the first outing, the newly revealed synopsis confirms that the follow-up will take inspiration from one of the greatest sci-fi action movies ever made: Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
Revealing that M3GAN 2.0 (or Megan 2), will pick up two years after the first outing, the sequel will, much like the Terminator before it, find the AI doll turn good to save humanity from an even worse version of herself. You can check out the new teaser and synopsis below.

The murderous doll who captivated pop culture in 2023 returns this year in M3GAN 2.0. However, she's not alone. The original creative team behind the movie - led by horror titans James Wan for Atomic Monster, Jason Blum for Blumhouse and director Gerard Johnstone - return for a follow-up which promises to put a new spin on the deadly A.I.
The first teaser trailer and poster was released during the Grammys and, after M3GAN shows off some dance moves, she asks, "Miss me?" before laughing to herself in an expectedly sinister fashion.
A full trailer surely can't be far behind but, in the meantime, we have the first official plot details for the sequel:

Universal Pictures revealed the first trailer for “M3GAN 2.0” during the 2025 Grammy Awards, setting the stage for a thrilling exploration of artificial intelligence gone wrong. The film, scheduled for release on June 27, builds on the unexpected success of its 2023 predecessor.
The sequel continues the story two years after the original film’s events, with protagonist Gemma (Allison Williams) now a leading voice in AI safety. Her advocacy emerged from her traumatic encounter with the first murderous AI doll, M3GAN.
A new danger emerges when a defense contractor obtains M3GAN’s core technology, creating Amelia, a military-grade AI unit played by Ivanna Sakhno. As Amelia develops self-awareness, she begins to challenge her human controllers, setting up a potential conflict with the upgraded M3GAN.

M3GAN 2.0 is hitting theaters this June 27th, and the horror world is buzzing. The original M3GAN, released in 2022, became an instant sensation, transforming from a humble $12 million production into a global phenomenon grossing over $180 million. This sequel is poised to be a pivotal moment for the killer doll, determining whether she solidifies her place as a true horror icon.
M3GAN’s viral success wasn’t just about box office numbers. Her blend of chilling horror and campy humor resonated with audiences, making her a household name. Many compared M3GAN favorably to the 2019 Child’s Play reboot, suggesting that M3GAN achieved what that film failed to: a compelling and terrifying killer doll narrative. M3GAN’s popularity even sparked a hilarious Twitter feud with Chucky, with even Cocaine Bear joining the online fray.
Interestingly, M3GAN’s initial R-18 rating was softened after her dance moves went viral on TikTok and other social media platforms.

The sci-fi thriller M3GAN (read our review Here, get a copy Here) was such a financial success when it reached theatres in January of last year, it didn’t even take Universal Pictures and production companies Blumhouse and Atomic Monster two weeks to announce that they’d be re-teaming for a sequel. M3GAN 2.0 is set to reach theatres on June 27, 2025, and now we’be gotten our first official teaser, which you can watch embedded above. Recently, Entertainment Weekly unveiled a couple first-look images! You can check them out at the bottom of this article.

The first “M3GAN,” which stands for Model 3 Generative Android, follows a young girl named Cady (Violet McGraw), who loses her parents in a car accident and is raised by her roboticist aunt Gemma (Allison Williams). Gemma has been working on an experimental, child-sized robot designed to be the ultimate companion for kids. It cannot be denied: The Super Bowl generally translates into big box office.
However, there are only three motion picture studios — Disney, Paramount and Universal — willing to pony up $7.5 million-$8 million for a 30-second spot on Fox before an audience that last year reached 123.7 million viewers across live linear and streaming.
For those in the dark, Super Bowl Lix on February is a rematch of the 2023 face-off between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs, the latter eyeing an unprecedented third consecutive Super Bowl title.
Say what you will about linear being dead, but when it comes to live sports programming, it’s still a prime means of reaching a moviegoing audience. Big tentpole movies like Deadpool & Wolverine ($211.4M opening) and Wicked ($112.5M) launched during last year’s Super Bowl.

Wolf Man has had an unpromising global debut. The Universal monster remake follows a man (Christopher Abbott) whose lycanthropic transformation threatens the lives of his wife (Julia Garner) and daughter (Matilda Firth), who are trapped in a house with him. The Blumhouse movie was directed by Leigh Whannell, who previously helmed the 2020 remake The Invisible Man to great critical and commercial success. The Wolf Man release began during the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday weekend, taking No. 3 at the domestic box office behind the 2024 hit Mufasa: The Lion King and the comedy One of Them Days.
Per Variety, as of Sunday morning, Wolf Man is projected to close out its opening weekend with a worldwide box office gross of $15.3 million. This total comes from an underwhelming $4.83 million haul from 53 international markets, combined with a roughly $10.5 million 3-day domestic total. While the MLK Day holiday weekend sees its domestic projections...

The killer AI-powered doll movie M3GAN (which gets its name from the fact that the doll is a Model 3 Generative Android) reached theatres back on January 6, 2023 – but months before the movie was even released, we were hearing that Universal Pictures was so pleased with it, sequel discussions were already underway. And less than two weeks after M3GAN made its way out into the world, Universal officially announced that we’ll be getting M3GAN 2.0 in 2025. The release date has changed a couple of times since then, moving from January 17 to May 16 to June 25, but the project has made its way through production and looks likely to stick with that June release date. In anticipation of the killer doll’s return, we have now put together a list of Everything We Know About M3GAN 2.0.

2024 was a great year for horror fans as we got horrifyingly beautiful films like Nosferatu and Longlegs. While 2024 was a great year, 2025 is going to be something as we will see the release of much-anticipated films like the Last Conjuring film and Guillermo del Toro‘s take on the classic novel Frankenstein. So, we decided to compile a list of the most anticipated horror films that are coming in 2025.

Presence is an upcoming supernatural horror thriller film directed by Steven Soderbergh from a screenplay by David Koepp. The upcoming film revolves around a family who move into a suburban neighborhood and soon believe their house is haunted. While the plot for Presence sounds like a typical horror film, the ultimate twist, aka hook for the upcoming Soderbergh film, is that the film is shot from the ghost’s perspective.

Blumhouse Pictures, the kings of horror at the box office for the past decade, didn’t make a big splash at the box office in 2024. This year looks to be much different, starting this weekend with Leigh Whannell’s “Wolf Man.”
According to exhibitors and rival distributors, “Wolf Man” is projected for a 3-day opening in the high teens. With MLK Day included, the Universal release is expected to earn a 4-day opening above $20 million.
This would be a higher opening than any of Blumhouse’s launches in 2024, as their last January release, “Night Swim,” and their September remake of “Speak No Evil” both opened to around $11 million. “Speak No Evil” was Blumhouse’s top film last year with $36.9 million domestic and $75.7 million worldwide.
To be clear, none of Blumhouse’s 2024 films were flops, easily clearing their production budgets which never exceeded $15 million. But 2024 was also only the second year...

With Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, director George Miller and his VFX team crafted an entire dystopian desert ecosystem using familiar imagery.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, VFX supervisor Andrew Jackson discussed the process of retooling Mad Max: Fury Road images for Furiosa's setpieces, including environments briefly seen in Fury Road. "We were rebuilding worlds using that photographic material. We didn’t reuse CG assets from the previous film, so everything was rebuilt, including the Citadel. That was the one thing we might have been able to reuse, but we couldn't access those files," he explained.

Spinning off from the horror film M3GAN, a brand-new technological terror is in the works entitled SOULM8TE, and there are already exciting details, including a release date. 2022's M3GAN brought the fear of modern technology to the forefront as it told the story of an AI-powered doll that was developed to help children cope with the loneliness and loss. Naturally, the titular doll goes haywire and uses circular logic to justify destroying anyone and anything that gets between her and her primary objective. M3GAN's unique brand of tech-hysteria is incredibly prescient, and SOULM8TE will continue that trend.
It didn't take long for M3GAN 2.0 to get a green light, and the franchise is already expanding further with the new spinoff. SOULM8TE is a natural continuation of the ideas explored in M3GAN, but will instead focus on the loneliness of adulthood as opposed to the innocence seen in its predecessor.
