Rlje Films' new comedy slasher film Bloody Axe Wound is heading to Shudder, the horror-focused streaming platform. This follows the theatrical release of the movie in December 2024.

Shudder has announced that Bloody Axe Wound is set to start streaming exclusively on the platform on March 21, 2025. Written and directed by Matthew John Lawrence, the film features a special appearance from The Walking Dead: Dead City star Jeffrey Dean Morgan. The villainous doll featured in the 2022 hit horror movie made a surprise appearance in a teaser trailer for the upcoming M3GAN 2.0 that aired during the 2025 Grammys on Sunday (February 2).

“Miss me?” she simply declared in the teaser, which featured her signature dancing set to Chappell Roan‘s hit song “Femininomenon” from her The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, who performed just minutes prior.

The plot is still being kept under wraps for the highly anticipated horror sequel, due out later in 2025, directed by Gerard Johnstone. There’s also a spinoff in the works!

In the original movie, when robotics engineer Gemma becomes the guardian of her orphaned niece, Cady, she thinks her new invention, a robotic AI, will be a good companion. However, M3GAN begins to behave in unexpected and shocking ways.

The sci-fi thriller M3GAN (read our review Here, get a copy Here) was such a financial success when it reached theatres in January of last year, it didn’t even take Universal Pictures and production companies Blumhouse and Atomic Monster two weeks to announce that they’d be re-teaming for a sequel. M3GAN 2.0 is set to reach theatres on June 27, 2025, and now we’be gotten our first official teaser, which you can watch embedded above. Recently, Entertainment Weekly unveiled a couple first-look images! You can check them out at the bottom of this article.

Based on a story crafted by producer James Wan, M3GAN was directed by Gerard Johnstone (Housebound) from a screenplay by Akela Cooper (Malignant). Johnstone returned to the helm for the sequel, and Cooper has written the script.

On Friday, Scary Movie 6 writer and producer Marlon Wayans shared the release date for the upcoming film via an Instagram post. It will officially receive a later spring theatrical release on June 12, 2026. Paramount Pictures will release the film through their first-look deal with Miramax (distributor for the first three movies).

2024 was a great year for horror fans as we got horrifyingly beautiful films like Nosferatu and Longlegs. While 2024 was a great year, 2025 is going to be something as we will see the release of much-anticipated films like the Last Conjuring film and Guillermo del Toro‘s take on the classic novel Frankenstein. So, we decided to compile a list of the most anticipated horror films that are coming in 2025.

Presence is an upcoming supernatural horror thriller film directed by Steven Soderbergh from a screenplay by David Koepp. The upcoming film revolves around a family who move into a suburban neighborhood and soon believe their house is haunted. While the plot for Presence sounds like a typical horror film, the ultimate twist, aka hook for the upcoming Soderbergh film, is that the film is shot from the ghost’s perspective.

Blumhouse Pictures, the kings of horror at the box office for the past decade, didn’t make a big splash at the box office in 2024. This year looks to be much different, starting this weekend with Leigh Whannell’s “Wolf Man.”

According to exhibitors and rival distributors, “Wolf Man” is projected for a 3-day opening in the high teens. With MLK Day included, the Universal release is expected to earn a 4-day opening above $20 million.

This would be a higher opening than any of Blumhouse’s launches in 2024, as their last January release, “Night Swim,” and their September remake of “Speak No Evil” both opened to around $11 million. “Speak No Evil” was Blumhouse’s top film last year with $36.9 million domestic and $75.7 million worldwide.

To be clear, none of Blumhouse’s 2024 films were flops, easily clearing their production budgets which never exceeded $15 million. But 2024 was also only the second year...

With Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, director George Miller and his VFX team crafted an entire dystopian desert ecosystem using familiar imagery.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, VFX supervisor Andrew Jackson discussed the process of retooling Mad Max: Fury Road images for Furiosa's setpieces, including environments briefly seen in Fury Road. "We were rebuilding worlds using that photographic material. We didn’t reuse CG assets from the previous film, so everything was rebuilt, including the Citadel. That was the one thing we might have been able to reuse, but we couldn't access those files," he explained.

Spinning off from the horror film M3GAN, a brand-new technological terror is in the works entitled SOULM8TE, and there are already exciting details, including a release date. 2022's M3GAN brought the fear of modern technology to the forefront as it told the story of an AI-powered doll that was developed to help children cope with the loneliness and loss. Naturally, the titular doll goes haywire and uses circular logic to justify destroying anyone and anything that gets between her and her primary objective. M3GAN's unique brand of tech-hysteria is incredibly prescient, and SOULM8TE will continue that trend.

It didn't take long for M3GAN 2.0 to get a green light, and the franchise is already expanding further with the new spinoff. SOULM8TE is a natural continuation of the ideas explored in M3GAN, but will instead focus on the loneliness of adulthood as opposed to the innocence seen in its predecessor.
