    Should Have Been Much Better

This film essentially begins with five female friends deciding to spend a weekend together at a large house belonging to one of them named "Jum" (Claudia Charapan). While there, a storm crops up on their very first night which takes out all of the electricity. Not terribly alarmed, Jum produces a lantern, and they all go to the living room to talk. It's then that one of them suggests that they all share their worst sexual encounter they have ever had. To that effect, "Ann" (Sonlaya Pinnarin) goes first and, after recounting her worst sexual experience, another female follows with a story that is even worse. And this is repeated on down the line until it finally becomes Jum's turn--and what she has to say is truly bizarre. Now, rather than reveal any more, I will just say that that this was one of those films that definitely had potential, but the director (Sukit Narintr) failed to truly capitalize on it. For example, the movie featured several beautiful actresses with Kamonchanok Veyroj (as "Koy") and Chutima Every ("Maem") standing out the most, in my opinion. It also featured a couple of erotic scenes which contained a bit of humor here and there as well. Unfortunately, there were a couple of other scenes which I thought were rather cruel and not at all funny. That being said, although this movie certainly had some good qualities, it wasn't enough to overcome the faults just mentioned and I have rated this film accordingly. Slightly below average.

    This was a comedy?...

Stumbling upon the 2002 Thai movie titled "Sin Sisters", and seeing that it was a comedy, of course I opted to sit down and watch it. I do enjoy Asian cinema quite a lot, and with it being a movie that I hadn't already seen or heard about, of course I gave writer and director Sukit Narintr's movie a chance.

Well, as for "Sin Sisters" being a comedy, that might be grasping at straws. Sure, there were elements hinting towards comedy here, but this is not a movie that will have anyone laughing. Nay, this was more of a romantic drama of sorts, but with a supernatural twist to it. Yeah, but it didn't really work out all that well.

The movie is slow paced, and it is essentially an anthology of short stories told by the women in the leading roles, where they tell humiliating sexual stories and one tries to out-do the story of the previous lady. Sure, there were some toe-curling stories here, but I found little enjoyment and entertainment in the movie. Yet, I opted to stick with the movie to the end. And I have to say that the last story and the change that writer and director Sukit Narintr put on the narrative here was just baffling stupid.

The acting performances in "Sin Sister" were fair enough. You're not in for an evening of Shakespearian performances, but the ladies did go about their craft in a fair enough manner. I wasn't familiar with the cast ensemble in "Sin Sisters", as I am not all that well-traversed with the Thai cinema in general.

I was not impressed with what writer and director Sukit Narintr delivered with this 2002 movie.

My rating of "Sin Sisters" lands on a generous four out of ten stars.
