The Heavenly Idol (2023)
A fantasy-romance drama about an unknown idol, Woo Yeon-woo, whose body was possessed by Rembrary, the god of this world.
Pontifex Lembrary is widely regarded as having the most powerful divine power ever. While he fights against a devil, he gets transferred to a different world. Pontifex Lembrary then finds himself in a small dormitory and possesses the body of Woo Yeon Woo, who is a member of the unpopular idol group Wild Animal. The group has been together for 3 years, but they are on the verge of disbanding due to their lack of success. 9 hours later, Pontifex Lembrary is placed on a stage with Wild Animal for a live performance at a broadcasting station. When the music begins to play, Pontifex Lembrary, in Woo Yeon Woo's body, shouts out, "I don't know how to dance." The live broadcast performance is a disaster, but it attracts the attention of people and the media. With his charms, including a confident attitude, Woo Yeon Woo, still possessed by Pontifex Lembrary's spirit, becomes popular, and so does his group Wild Animal. Pontifex Lembrary must now get used to life as a member of an idol group, and he faces various troubles, like dealing with weird religious groups and the devil.
One Of The Best Drama I've watched so far. Kim Min-kyu is one of my favourite actors this is my first time watching go bo-gyeol and I am loving it it's really hard for me to wait for more episodes but the story makes it worth waiting.

Korean Drama " Heavenly Idol " is a fantasy drama about a heavenly priest who suddenly becomes an idol.
Right from the beginning, the drama doesn't take itself seriously and it continues with the light, silly mood till the very ending. Thus, the whole heavenly politics/battle of good and evil was set aside and was underdeveloped, especially since it wasn't easy to make the viewer care for them when the rest of the story is a comedy.
The romance was another part of the drama that was awkward. It could easily be omitted actually without any effect on the main plot, as the couple didn't have chemistry as lovers and were better off as friends. Not to mention that their romantic encounters were few.
Finally, the performances were enjoyable by everyone in the cast and the CGI good enough.
So, overall, four out of ten.

I loved this drama so much .. I can't believe it's ending :( . Although I'm sad by the fact that it's ending I still gotta write this review cuz it is one of the best drama I've ever seen 💓 . I loved the characters too much imo hehe... They're so lovable :( I'm gonna rewatch it again after my exams hihi , everyone I recommend this one it's soooo fun to watch and has actual plot...... Idk what to write more without giving spoilers so I'm adding a lot of dots 😭 lol...... Just go watch it, it's amazing skhgffghhjh (excited teen girl noises) And make sure you leave a review too so they know how much you appreciate their work 💓
The Heavenly Idol is quite frankly a perfect romantic comedy. It has a very wide range cast of characters that are all so much fun to watch, with each one adding a little bit of flair to the overall plot line.
The story is fun, interesting, and just different enough to make it stand out from the crowd. The ML is such a wonderful character, just naive enough that the situations he finds himself in are ridiculous in a believable way that create genuine humor for the viewer. The romance is more of a subplot, but it is well done with a really great female lead who is both smart and strong.
I thought that 12 episodes was the perfect length to have a well fleshed-out story line without dragging it out or rushing the plot points. The portrayal of K-pop idols definitely gives fans something to think about, as their favorite idols are often mistreated and go through a lot of hardship to get into the spotlight, and I found watching this little group of idols very rewarding and interesting.
Overall I this is well worth the watch for any rom-com fan!

See below, originally gave 8 but had to update:
I am rating an 8 but may come back and re-evaluate after the series finishes. I was really impressed at the beginning 3 episodes, and the songs that were sung were just so Heavenly that it gave me the chills. Kim Min Kyu was unbelievable in the role and got hooked in those early episodes.
It's now episode 8 and kind of think it is getting a little hokey - with the devil and now he the ML Rembray is getting human feelings and can't act on them with being a Priest and all. Feel it is worth to keep watching and enjoy it for the fantasy drama that it is - and will see how it turns out. Am wondering how the ending will be since Remarry needs to get back and the real Idol needs to get home as well. Funny in lots of parts too.
FINAL RATING UPDATE: Sadly came back to reduce my original rating of a 9. Really enjoyed the early episodes, but for me the violence got to be too much and also the ending was so boring that I dozed off daydreaming and actually had to put it on again and fast forward to the end to see it again which now I know why I dozed off after seeing the ending for the 2nd time. Could have done better.
