Dumb, Dumber and Dumbest - there's your 3 nite stand in a Nutshell!

Embarrassingly bad movie -- typically Canadian, trying to be bilingual and cross-cultural but ending up just being stupid. Not funny, not moving and that singing duet scene -- cringe-worthy.

    Surprisingly enjoyable

A couple go to a ski lodge which happens to be run by the man's ex girlfriend who he is still in love with.

Three Night Stand is a slightly quirky comedy drama. It all seems pretty familiar and the script doesn't really hold any surprises. However it did manage to hold my attention throughout and I did enjoy it.

It starts off as more of a comedy but the second half focuses more on the drama. It isn't particularly funny but it is amusing at times and some of the drama works nicely. The acting is good from all concerned and the characters are all pretty good if a bit of a mish-mash.

Overall this is nothing special but it is an enjoyable way to pass 90 minutes.

    Great Acting But Bad Editing

Trying to get away for a weekend and focus on their relationship, Carl (Sam Huntington) takes his wife Sue (Meaghan Rath) to a mountain lodge for some skiing and wine tasting. Unfortunately for Carl, upon arrival, he discovers that his ex-girlfriend Robyn (Emmanuelle Chriqui)—who he used to bring quite often to the same lodge back in the day—is now the owner of the lodge. Wackiness ensues as Carl tries to keep as much of his previous relationship hidden from his wife as possible. Though the acting is of high quality—both Huntington and Rath are regulars on Being Human, though Huntington will always be Jam from Detroit Rock City to me—the editing for Three Night Stand is so unsightly and choppy that it became a constant distraction throughout the film. The worst scene involves Carl and Robyn walking through the woods with their skis, then suddenly they pull up on a snowmobile, which they dismount and find themselves back with the skis as another character approaches them on the same snowmobile they had just been on—the editing is unpleasant to say the least. A tip of the hat to Huntington, Chriqui and Rath—and to Jonathan Cherry, who steals many a scene as the husband of Carl's best friend/co-worker Stacey—but between the egregious editing and the overall weak plot line, Three Night Stand is sadly insufficient.

Meaghan Rath and Sam Huntington try

Not great, actually a bit all over the place I watched this because I saw Sam Huntington & Meaghan Rath's names attached and I really liked both of them in the series Being Human. They do a good job here too but other than that its a pretty weak romantic comedy with a flimsy plot and some questionable goings on.

Sam and Meghan play a married couple hoping to kickstart their romance on a weekend getaway. They leave the city (of Montreal) and drive to a ski lodge, having awkward car sex along the way. Once at the lodge things get even more awkward as 'Carl' discovers his sexy ex-girlfriend is now running the place. Because this is a romantic comedy Carl tries to keep his previous relationship a secret from his wife while his ex finds ways to tempt him. Eventually he phones for back up and his best friend from work and her husband turn up to add to the chaos. An unsatisfactory (dark) ending for me here too

    I don't like Carl

Married couple Carl (Sam Huntington) and Sue (Meaghan Rath) is having an awkward sex ski weekend. He is shocked to find his ex Robyn (Emmanuelle Chriqui) running the ski lodge. She had left her life and bought the place. Carl reveals to Sue that he had dated Robyn. In desperation, he calls his friend Stacey (Reagan Pasternak) who drives up with her boyfriend.

It's a passable dysfunctional rom-com comedy indie up to a certain point. When Carl goes off the deep end, the reason to care goes out the window. He's acting like an idiot and I stop caring about him. The comedy is a bit flimsy up to that point. After that point, it's problematic with its unwelcome destination. The dysfunction is no longer fun and I don't feel the love. The long and short of it is that I don't like Carl.
