    Christianity Sanitized by Hollywood

This movie, is very professionally done. Unfortunately, it follows the Hollywood formula of everything and everyone, being materially comfortable, squeaky clean and the ladies"made-up" to glamour standards. I think, that we've grown so habituated to these standards, that it would be difficult for us to watch, if it presented people and situations, as they really are in life. I'm mostly mentioning this due to the fact, that this is a "Christian" film. It is sad to me, that even people of faith feel, that they need to show this glamorized image of life, to find acceptance. I believe, that the film, gives a good representation of both sides of the "Creationism" versus "Evolutionary" debate on life's origins, although it is of course told from a "Christian" perspective, and somewhat heavy-handedly at some times. It shows, the rigidity of those on both sides of this question. I think, that the acting is well done. The script, however, is quite bland and contrived. It is certainly no profound work of art or ideas, which such a topic could lend itself to. I watched it for the ideas, rather, than expecting some "chef d'oeuvre" of cinema. I found it mildly entertaining.

    Absolute non-sense

Nothing but wishful thinking, pseudo-scientific claims. The person who wrote this clearly does not understand the theory of evolution, and then proceeds to straw man currently accepted scientific models.

Anyone whose taken a 6th grade biology course can quickly see through the propaganda and lies this film portrays.

The only reason you should watch this is for amusement of how illiterate society can be, other than that don't waste your time on this.

To summarize, the people who wrote this are the same ones who believe the Earth to be 6,000 years, so watch at your own risk.

worst manipulative lying piece of garbage

    God Awful

this was one of the worst garbage movies I've ever seen in my entire life. it manipulates and tries to force feed the viewer with lies. don't watch it unless u cant think for yourself and need to validate your faith with false statements and a feel good atmosphere.

if you do watch it, be prepared to almost cringe at times because of the way christians are portrayed as good vs the evil atheists, its enough to almost make you vomit. i assume that there are some hardcore Christian fundamentalists who would enjoy this movie, but for the common man you should avoid it at all costs.

Too Preachy Little to No Substance

As a Christian, ex-track runner, and scientist who believes in intelligent design; I would say that this movie misses on both sides of the aisle. If done right, then this movie could have been eye-opening. However, the writers know nothing about evolution or intelligent design. As a result, they have devolved this movie into a preaching contest. When will the Christians that make this movie realize that self-righteous preaching does not bring people to God but turns them in the other direction?

Suffice it to say that haters (and so called scientists) who exaggerate the true scientific merit of the theory of evolution to ban the teaching of an alternative theory like intelligent design are just as wrong as Christians who banned the teaching of evolution prior to Scopes-Monkey. In real science, all theories are allowed into the arena and to stand the test of scrutiny.

When Steven Whitaker makes his statement about Creationism not being taught to the administrator, the administrator states that Evolution is taught in all public schools as the answer to the origin of life. This is not true, no public or private school teaches that Evolution is the origin of life, rather it is taught that Evolution is the reason we see so many different types of life.

Stephen Whitaker: I guess my first question for you, Professor Kaman, and the most important one I can think of is: how do you explain away God?

      Professor Kaman: Explain away?

Stephen Whitaker: Yes, what about God?

Professor Kaman: Simply put, man created God.

      Stephen Whitaker: Man created God?

Professor Kaman: I am 100% with Freud on this one, sir.

Stephen Whitaker: That man created God?

Professor Kaman: Dr. Sigmund Freud brilliantly observed many years ago that man is riddled with deep seated fears living as he does in a world of disease and famine and disaster with very little control over his circumstance. So yes, he created God. He postulated a being who could deliver him. Kind of life a supernatural sky hook that could pull him out of trouble. Man also believed that he was getting a raw deal from just about everybody so he wanted a cosmic umpire, to blow the big whistle and halt the game until everybody got what they deserved. But most of all, man fears death and extinction, and so he needed a heavenly father, who could take him at the end to some heavenly place that he decided to call heaven, all because he couldn't face the fact that eventually he was going to vanish from existence.

Stephen Whitaker: So, what's the purpose of life, Professor Kaman?

Professor Kaman: We live, and then we die and go back in the earth. That's it, there's no afterlife. Face the music, Mr. Whitaker. Elvis is dead, he's left the building. In this life, we get a chance to make a mark. If we do that, maybe the next generation will remember us, maybe we'll even teach them something but there is no afterlife.

Stephen Whitaker: I believe there is much more than that.

Professor Kaman: Yeah, you believe, Mr. Whitaker but do you have any proof of an afterlife?

      Stephen Whitaker: Proof?

Professor Kaman: Proof. Scientific proof. Any kind of proof?

Stephen Whitaker: The Bible says we believe by faith.

Professor Kaman: Faith in what? In a God we can't see and a book we can't rely on? I'd like a little scientific proof.

Stephen Whitaker: I can't offer scientific proof.

Professor Kaman: Well, the words in this book that you hold so sacred, how do you even know they're true?

Stephen Whitaker: The Bible is very trustworthy.

Professor Kaman: I didn't ask if it was trustworthy. I asked if it was true.

Stephen Whitaker: The Bible is the word of God.

Professor Kaman: Wasn't the Bible written by men?

      Stephen Whitaker: Yes, it was.

Professor Kaman: Then how does that make it the word of God?

Stephen Whitaker: Look, I can't explain it.

Professor Kaman: So, you're betting your afterlife on a book you can't explain about a God you can't prove. I am sticking with Freud on this one, Mr. Whitaker. I am definitely sticking with Freud.
