I managed to miss Joakim Lundells last movie while it aired, and after seeing Cancelled, I'm glad I did.
This abomination of a "movie" lacks in pretty much every aspect it could. The plot is uninspired and dull, which makes the ending very easy to foresee. The acting is half-assed, forced and manages to feel childish at times. We won't see these actors go anywhere big anytime soon, hopefully never. But is it even their fault? The script was doomed from the beginning.
It's really just a rehash of common horror characteristics and tropes, this movie adds nothing to a genre already clad in poor attempts at making the viewer nostalgic to better films.
The ending doesn't make sense either, I'm not going to mention any spoilers, but it feels like the writers had a case of writers block, and it shows.
Is it scary though? A poorly written horror flick can be saved by good atmosphere and well made jumpscares. Cancelled has neither. It's campy as all hell, without trying to be. The setting, an old abandoned mansion in the middle of nowhere looks like a studio. Everything looks "broken down and creepy" in a planned way, old children's toys can never cover up that a movie just isn't scary. Regarding the jumpscares, they're bad, and very easy to call out well before they happen.
I could sit here for an hour mentioning logical fallacies in the film, but that does not really serve a purpose. It's a cheap attempt and a scary film, and it fails miserably.
Are there any positives? Eh, the sound design is fine, and most of the camera work is well done. But overall, this film is lacking.
Better luck next time Joakim.

Loved this movie! Not as many jump scares that I expected but the story is good especially if you follow the instagram account, and get to know the backstory first! Even if some scenes were predictable, others wasn't so when you thought you knew the outcome something else happened. Actually I don't appreciate when horror movies have like unreal ghosts/monsters so at first I was disappointed, but as the movie went by it turned out the "ghost" was pretty scary. I can say that after one of the jump scares I couldn't have my legs on the floor, It was just like my hole body was full of fear. And the ending was leaving us hanging, but we could only imagine what happened after all that..
I went to see this horrendous flick only to hold my friends hand and went with little to zero expectations. My gut feeling was absolutely right, I wanted to leave right out the door as many times as the movie has minutes of dreadful, uneventful and boring scenes.
The story is full of loopholes, the character development is non existent meaning you have no emotional interest or care for anyone. As someone before me has mentioned the music and camera work is OK but this quality of work is really the bare minimum for a movie to even go up in the cinemas like this.
I want my 97 minutes of my life back. - 1/10.

If you are A bit older and have seen a lot of horror movies befor. Then this movie isn't that scary, but thats just my opinion. I wasn't scared at all.
The younger once in the audience on the other hand, screamed like crazy.
I probably had too high expectations for the filmand thought it would be more like the program Spökjakt whit more equipment and background history of the place they investigated. But for being A swedish horror movie it was quite ok, i hade hoped for more jump scares and to be really scared. Better luck next time. But go and see the movie and decide for yourself What you think of it, mabye you Will be scared , the taste is so diffrent from person to person.

This movie can not even compare to the first movie Joakim Lundell did in 2022. This movie is well done, has multipel jumpscars, and it is really scary. This is a movie that i wont forget. Some of the scenes really got under my skin.
I dont understand the person who left det previous review, be cause i that the opposite, that the movie Feed was a bit predictable at times, and not det best Joakim Lundell has done, but that was also his first movie. And now in this new movie canceled, it shows how much he has grown as a producer. I can only speculate how the next movie will be, but one thing is forsure that im going to se it.

- TriviaThe film was made in only 10 months. That is from idea to premier. With only 3.5 months in post production the move had to be cut in segments so the grade and sound editing could get started.
