Magic: The Gathering - The Musical

I love both magic and musicals, so it seems like it would be my kinda thing, but unfortunately I didn't like it one bid. I think this is the really good work to analyze beacause all of the aspects of work are lacking in different ways and it's valubale to learn from such small mistakes, because here they compound in such a way that finished musical looks amateur and half baked even though this kind of production supposed to be respecable piece of work and labour of pure love.

First of all, I wish there were at least subtitles or better quality of sound. I just can't understend what the charecters are singing about beyond basic "ooh, I'm sad...","I need to do better!" and "You can win!".

Second, the plot is really really poor. Main guy is being traind by some dollar store obi wan kenobi? DnD players have some kinda beef against magic players? At least stereotipical nerd guy is reletable, but maybe his empowering through weird nerd game should be a main story, instead of weird abusive relationship with your master.

Third, editing and camera work is really sketchy. In general, in comedy and especially in musicals timing is everything and it's so so cringy to see slow transitions between charecters actions. It just kills all dynamic. But even more discomforting is really long shots on charecters that leaving the screen and kinda just... stand in the corner? Yeah, it kills the pacing.

I wish this was so much more, I hope that this didn't kill hopes and dreams of this small studio, but I most likely wrong
