Paul Revere, Jr. was an okay musical short

The star of this musical short is one Gus Shy. Who? Well, obviously he's not well known today and, judging by his IMDb list, wasn't popular enough to make any more film appearances past 1936. Here he plays the title character celebrating his birthday at a nightclub. Somehow, he dreams he actually is his namesake back in Colonial times with many anachronistic gags abounded during that sequence as well as many songs. Oh, and Shemp Howard makes a brief appearance as a horse trainer trying to get Revere to get on the horse properly. In summary, Paul Revere, Jr. is occasionally amusing but that's it.

    Tedious...

This short film stars Guy Shy...a guy I've never heard of up until now. Apparently, he wasn't a popular star as he only have 10 credits listed on IMDb...and I can see why. His routine is tiresome...as is this entire expensive looking short from Vitaphone.

The plot is hard to describe and the story itself seems pretty irrelevant. Mostly, it's filled with song and dance numbers that makes little sense and the overall effort is a total bore. The film begins in the present and then jumps back to colonial days....all accompanied with humor that won't make you laugh and song and dance numbers that are boring. Overall, a terrible film with nothing to really recommend it other than a BRIEF appearance by Shemp Howard.
