    Girl this show is amazing

Idk what these other reviewers are on. I thoroughly enjoyed this show, it blends modern reality tv with the making of beautiful food. What more could you ask for?

It absolutely could have been done better, but it's their pilot season. I loved the fact that food network was willing to give a family like the Fang's the opportunity to showcase their culture and success in the restaurant business.

Some of the others reviewing their show commented on Kathy's appearance. I just KNOW they were some frumpy old white people. So what if she wants to look good? Maybe it's not for you but why would you feel the need to comment on something like that. I thought she looked gorg and the show was entertaining.

I hope this show is renewed, I know my family and I will watch it. I know many people who love Chinese cooking, food network, and reality TV. It would be a missed opportunity if they didn't capitalize on that market.

    Had High Hopes

And I love watching locals on TV. This was awful. Almost seems like a bad reality skanky tv show. No respectable person would go to this restaurant based on this show. The owner, Kathy, seems pretty pleased with herself exploiting her female servers. At best, it's just trendy and doesn't have staying power.

I grew up eating at some pretty great restaurants in SF and her dad's restaurant was not and never will be one of them. What a shame.

So many other choices throughout the city. I don't even know why she would get a show. You want to watch a show aboutChinese food and family? Try Eat Drink Man Woman.

    Terrible

Kathy Fang comes across as a miserable, know it all with a valley girl, spoiled rich girl type of persona. Seeing how she interacts with people would make me deliberately go some place else to eat. I don't care how good her food is (or how good she thinks it is). She has a lot of growing up to do.

I'm a big fan of some of the chefs on the food network, but I can't get into a show if the stars aren't likable. She needs to bake some humble pie and eat some of it (actually she could stand to eat the whole thing). I haven't decided on whether or not I like her dad or not. The verdict is still out...

    Sadly, didn't like it

I was rather looking forward to this mini-series on FN, something different from the usual American or Italian food, or a competition using impossible ingredients.

House of Fang dishes looked creative and interesting, but the host ... distracting and unwatchable. She oozes fakeness similar to Giada. Silicone "enhancements", lowcut shirts, bleached hair, blue eyes (really??), thick eyelid makeup that looks like fuzzy caterpillars, long painted nails (does she actually cook?) Dad looks genuine, endearing, old-school, but she is trying way too hard to promote her looks. If professional women chefs are preparing high quality cuisine, they do not need this kind of "marketing."

Would have been great to see a cooking show focus on Asian cuisine. I really miss Ming Tsai.

    Sad, anticipating the Chinese kitchen

Marked this for recording immediately, I was really looking forward to seeing a busy, popular Chinese kitchen..sadly the manufactured and scripted drama overtook the believability of a food program. Food Network, please go back to being about what made you watchable. You really don't need writers and a plot to make your programming interesting! Competition is always good and talented chefs sharing their recipes and philosophy about how to create and run a kitchen are far more important than some poorly performed storyline that is completely unnecessary in order to create viewership . Have some faith in what brought Food Network to popularity.
