My Dream Derelict Home in the Sun

Nice properties People without a clue how to budget The host allegedly knows all about this stuff, but apart from stating the obvious offers no help whatsoever. Unlike home in the sun or similar programmes, there is very little discussion on the legal and planning side which can be problematic in France and Spain.

Where it gets let down IMO is that on all the episodes I have seen the properties were never finished so no closure to the episode, and no concept of the financial plus or minus. We know they were 100%+ over budget, but did they lose their shirts on the investment?

OK idea poorly executed.

I like this show because of the wide range of properties that are shown & the eager property owners who tackle them, thinking it'll take them 6 to 12 months & they hardly ever plan for the hidden costs that arise. I was once told to have a figure in mind & double it. Sound advice.

I'd love to watch more detailed shows of how the renovations progress, but there are some episodes where the camera work is shaky, using the wrong lens or moving too fast, that the enjoyment goes out of watching it. Fix that & I'll give it 8/10.

All in all though, Scarlett is a gorgeous person & relaxed, personable presenter & without her, there is no show.
