Film is so back. Shooting on Kodak film continues to be both a more popular choice among filmmakers and to gather more Oscar prestige. At this year’s Academy Awards Sean Baker’s Best Picture winner, “Anora,” was shot on 35mm by cinematographer Drew Daniels; Brady Corbet’s Best Cinematography winner, “The Brutalist,” was shot on 35mm VistaVision to great aplomb by Dp Lol Crawley; Walter Salles’ Best International Feature Film winner, “I’m Still Here,” was shot on both 35mm and S8mm by cinematographer Adrian Teijido; and the Best Live Action Short winner, “I’m Not a Robot,” was also shot on 35mm.

This year looks set to build on that success. Over a year after tying the knot to Bleachers frontman Jack Antonoff, Margaret Qualley also starred in The Substance, one of the most critically acclaimed movies in 2024. With her romance with the rockstar producer, some fans have been wondering: is Margaret Qualley pregnant?

Margaret has appeared in plenty of hit movies and TV shows, after making her debut in 2013’s Palo Alto. That same year, she starred in in the HBO series The Leftovers.

Since then, Margaret has plenty of other major films and shows, like Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Fosse/Verdon, and Maid. Most recently, fans have been flocking to her after The Substance became an Oscar-nominated a hit.

“The Last Showgirl” director Gia Coppola, whose grandfather is iconic auteur Francis Ford Coppola, said during Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s “Dinner’s On Me” podcast that she had to eventually watch “The Godfather” with one of her pals since no one in her family was willing to revisit it with her.

Francis Ford Coppola’s “The Godfather,” which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2022, spurred two sequels, concluding with 1990’s “The Godfather: Part III.” Yet it took Gia Coppola a few decades to even get to see the first feature.

“I haven’t seen ‘Godfather’ until much later in my life because there was like a lot of pressure and intimidation,” Gia Coppola said, “but also all my family had sort of been a part of it and seen it, so no one really wanted to re watch that with me.

The conversation about nepotism in the film industry has been going on for decades, with multiple "nepo babies" addressing whether they like the title or not. In Andie MacDowell's case, she's experiencing "reverse nepotism."

The actress has been acting for over four decades, but she's experiencing a new wave of recognition not thanks to her many rom-coms but her daughter, Margaret Qualley. Qualley's breakout role was in Gia Coppola's 2013 Palo Alto, with an appearance in 2019's Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood, but 2024 was huge for her thanks to her role in The Substance. During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, MacDowell explained that she's now "cool" because of her daughter.

The iconic “Barb Wire” and “Baywatch” star plays the title character of Gia Coppola’s feature that centers on a Las Vegas performer (Anderson) who finds herself at a career crossroads after her show abruptly closes after a 30-year run. Per the official synopsis, as a dancer in her fifties, she struggles with what to do next and tries to repair a strained relationship with her daughter.

In addition to Anderson, Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis, Dave Bautista, Brenda Song, Kiernan Shipka, and Billie Lourd also star.

Kate Gersten wrote the screenplay. “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” cinematographer Autumn Durald Arkapaw serves as the director of photography. The feature includes original music from Andrew Wyatt (“Barbie”). Natalie Farrey and Robert Schwartzman are producing.

It's been almost 50 years since "Rocky" first arrived in 1976, and in that time the franchise has changed dramatically. The "Rocky" saga has now grown beyond original star Sylvester Stallone, with Michael B. Jordan's "Creed III" barely mentioning the man who birthed the now legendary film series. Whatever you think about that, everyone can surely recognize the staying power of the "Rocky" movies, which have formed part of our pop cultural history for the better part of a half century.

Exclusive: Emma Roberts (Madame Web) will exec produce and star in Space Cadet, a new rom-com from Stampede Ventures, which enters production this month. Also now aboard the film from writer-director Liz W. Garcia (The Lifeguard) is Prime Video, which will distribute it internationally.

Space Cadet follows the Florida party girl Rex (Roberts), who turns out to be the only hope for the NASA space program, after a fluke puts her in training with other candidates who may have better resumes, but don’t have her smarts, heart and moxie.

Gia Coppola is making her first foray into documentary with a focus on boy bands and the girls, women, and queer people who love them.

The “Palo Alto” filmmaker is directing and producing “superfans: screaming. crying. throwing up.,” which is now in production from Xtr and Jason Bateman and Michael Costigan’s Aggregate in association with Coppola’s Detour, the companies announced on Monday.

As the film’s title suggests, “superfans” focuses on the most devoted fans of bands like New Edition, New Kids on the Block, Backstreet Boys, *Nsync, One Direction, and BTS, who helped turn musical acts into multi-billion dollar franchises. It looks at fangirl experiences, movements, and markets of the ’80s, ’90s, and 2000s.

It’s based on the 2020 nonfiction book “Larger Than Life: A History of Boy Bands from NKotB to BTS,” from music and culture critic Maria Sherman.

Val Kilmer is having something of a comeback moment with the buzzy release of the documentary “Val” on Amazon Prime Video, and next up for the actor is a return to “Top Gun” by reprising the role of (now Admiral) Tom “Iceman” Kazansky opposite Tom Cruise in “Top Gun: Maverick.” Specifics on Kilmer’s “Top Gun” reprisal remain under wraps, but producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently told People magazine that it was Cruise himself who fought to include Kilmer in the sequel. Kilmer’s career took a pause after the actor lost the ability to speak in 2014 due to throat cancer treatment.

“[Tom Cruise] said, ‘We have to have Val, we have to have him back. We have to have him in the film,'” Bruckheimer said. “And he was the driving force. We all wanted him, but Tom was really adamant that if he’s going to make another ‘Top Gun,’ Val had to be in it.

Exclusive: Devonté Hynes has signed on to compose the score for Issa Rae’s HBO Max comedy, Rap Sh*t.

The series written by Rae follows Shawna (Aida Osman) and Mia (KaMillion), two estranged high school friends from Miami, who reunite to form a rap group.

Yasiin Bey was announced as the star of a Thelonious Monk biopic on Wednesday, but as of Thursday, he appeared to be backing out the project in the wake of complaints coming from the late jazz great’s estate about the planned film.

“If the Monk Estate is not happy with it, if Mr. Monk III is not happy with it, then neither am I,” said Bey, the actor and musician formerly known as Mos Def, on Instagram Thursday morning. “To be clear, I was given every indication by the production company that the family was on board. It was one of my primary questions. … I took them at their word and clearly that wasn’t the case.”

Wolff will play Travis Maldonado, one of Joe’s husbands.

The limited series centers on Carole Baskin (McKinnon), a big cat enthusiast, who learns that fellow exotic animal lover Joe “Exotic” Schreibvogel (Mitchell) is breeding and using his big cats for profit. She sets out to shut down his venture, inciting a quickly escalating rivalry. But Carole has a checkered past of her own and when the claws come out, Joe will stop at nothing to expose what he sees as her hypocrisy. The results prove dangerous.
