You know what's wrong with this whole aggregation ranking thing? Everybody's a critic and everyone thinks that their opinion matters. And it doesn't. Not one little bit. Mine included, so you can stop reading anytime you like...
People are pissed at this movie the way they are pissed at every movie that isn't directed by Christopher Nolan and have a plot you need a PhD to understand. These people appear to have lost the ability to just...enjoy.
What anybody who watched this movie - a movie about time travel starring Ryan Reynolds - was expecting when they threw a hissy fit is totally beyond me. Did they not know what was on offer? It kinda says that on the tin. Now, if that's not gonna appeal to you, move along. Nothing for you to see here. For the rest of us - you know, those of us who haven't forgotten how to enjoy stuff an don't require everything we see to be groundbreaking and profound - The Adam Project was a smart, touching and reasonably exciting Sci Fi romp that hit all the right notes and pushed all the right buttons. Recommended.

Although I'm quite a fan of Ryan Reynolds, I went into 'The Adam Project' not really expecting much, I figured it would be just another straight-to-streaming-service sci-fi flick (feel free to correct me if it was ever released in the cinema, but I certainly never saw it advertised there!). But I was pleasantly surprised to find myself charmed by its upbeat story and playful energy. From the outset, it was easy to assume this movie would lean heavily on familiar tropes, but Ryan Reynolds' ever-charming performance, paired with a heartfelt script, made it hard to dislike.
Mr Deadpool himself plays Adam Reed (or rather yet another version of the actor - yes, he may not have an awful lot of 'range,' but he's so watchable, do we really care?) who is a time-traveling fighter pilot who crash-lands in 2022 and teams up with his 12-year-old self (Walker Scobell) to save the future. The premise may sound like a typical time-travel adventure, but there's a genuine sense of fun and nostalgia that sets it apart. In many ways, 'The Adam Project' reminded me of those classic 80s films centered around kids' adventures, like 'The Goonies.' It captures that same spirit of youthful wonder, blending humor, family dynamics and heartfelt moments into a cohesive narrative that feels fresh enough to be enjoyable.
I don't know much about the film's production. Like I say... I never saw it advertised theatrically, so maybe it didn't have a 'mega-budget' behind it. Therefore, some of the special effects are a little underwhelming and the action is a tad generic. Yet, overall, 'The Adam Project' is a light, enjoyable film that doesn't aim to be more than it is. It's a nostalgic throwback to simpler cinematic times, with enough charm to win over even the most skeptical of viewers. It's a rare film these days that I reckon that pretty much the whole family can enjoy as the 'violence' and bad language is very played down and PG13-esque.

If you like Ryan Reynolds, you'll probably enjoy The Adam Project. This sci-fi action movie features his usual quick-witted schtick you've come to expect, but it also has an interesting premise, exciting action scenes, and even some real emotion. I do wish they would have toned down the profanity, but overall I found The Adam Project to be an enjoyable adventure.
Deadpool, The Hulk, and Elektra.
The movie is actually signed by Shawn Levy, which I somehow love.
It doesn't promise much, but it's pretty good at delivering what it promises.
Ryan Reynolds is in front of us with the same character he has been playing for the last 15 years.
What really surprises me is the harmony of someone like Raynolds, who was in front of the camera with the world's greatest actors and actresses, with Walker Scobell, who had his first acting experience at the age of 12.
They made a great duo team.
The film is technically trouble-free, even near perfect.
CGI and Cinematography are very good.
Sound Engineering is excellent, 5.1.2 Atmos speakers are used very effectively. In some scenes, all the windows and doors in the house shook.
Long story short, 'The Adam Project' is a movie made to entertain the audience and it succeeds.

I cried a little, I laughed a little, I had a good time. The storyline is well developed and while a complicated concept it's handled well. The characters are well cast and well acted. Some hokey CGI but it doesn't detract too much.

- TriviaWhen Louis Reed (Mark Ruffalo) says that he 'gets' a student's T-shirt during a lecture, the shirt has a picture of Nicolas Cage, but the name John Travolta under it. This is a reference to the John Woo film Volte/face (1997) in which the two actors played each other's characters. Cage and Ruffalo also had collaborated on Woo's Windtalkers : Les Messagers du vent (2002).
- GoofsAt 1:27:09 Louis mentions the gun fires rounds that contain a magnetic steel core; so, the weapon itself should have been pulled towards the reactor at the start of the breach, considering it pulls all things magnetic towards it. This would include its contents.
