In Doctor Elise the protagonist faces the challenge of hiding her impressive surgical skills in a new world where she is not even a doctor. The isekai genre often overlooks this difficulty but Doctor Elise showcases the struggle of justifying her abilities. The supporting character, Doctor Graham, tries to explain Elise's skills through various theories, but the fact that she performs a surgery that hasn't been invented yet raises suspicions.
Warning: Spoilers for Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady With the Lamp episode #5Every isekai protagonist who gets reincarnated always has the unenviable task of trying to hide the fact that they either come from another world or have lived multiple lives, and the new Crunchyroll series Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady With the Lamp is taking that problem to the extreme. Further underscoring this point is another isekai from Crunchyroll's current season whose protagonist has a similar background.

It's safe to say Jenna Ortega is one of Hollywood's most popular actors at the moment. She shot to superstardom due to the Scream franchise and X, but she's also become quite the internet sensation thanks to Netflix's Wednesday. But even before these properties, Ortega had a solid fanbase, and they definitely have enjoyed seeing her rewarded in the mainstream media for her hard work.
Interestingly, the horror genre definitely seems to be her go-to avenue, which is not always an easy genre to shine in. But as those who loved X realized, Ortega has tremendous range and pathos that can mollify the harshest of critics. Well, thanks to a forgotten arc in the Insidious series, Ortega could add another scary movie to her resume -- and it's all due to a small cameo she had in Insidious: Chapter 2.

ABC’s ‘20/20‘ brings viewers a gripping account of how a bizarre false confession led authorities astray in the investigation of the first murder committed by Keith Hunter Jesperson, infamously known as the “Happy Face Killer.” This two-hour program, airing on Friday, August 25 from 9:01 to 11:00 p.m. Edt, delves into the chilling story of how Laverne Pavlinac’s fabricated confession diverted attention from Jesperson, enabling him to remain at large and claim the lives of at least seven more women before his eventual arrest.
The False Confession That Derailed the Investigation
In 1990, after the discovery of Taunja Bennett’s body in the Columbia Gorge, 57-year-old Laverne Pavlinac confessed to police that she and her boyfriend, John Sosnovske, had committed the crime. Her detailed and convincing account led to their convictions and life sentences. However, Pavlinac’s confession turned out to be a web of lies concocted to escape an abusive relationship with Sosnovske.

The Green Goblin suit in Spider-Man: No Way Home could have been scarier with a redesign featuring a purple hood and elements from Thor's Dark Elves. Concept art reveals that the original mask could have been preserved and Osborn could have worn Iron Man armor for his Goblin suit. Ultimately, the decision to have Willem Dafoe's face largely uncovered in the Green Goblin suit was the right one, as his facial expressions brought depth to the character.
The Green Goblin suit was almost way scarier in Spider-Man: No Way Home thanks to a forgotten Thor villain. Having come to the MCU from the Sam Raimi universe, Norman Osborn (Willem Dafoe) destroyed his classic mask, attempting to rid himself of his Goblin persona in this new reality. However, Osborn almost had a far darker redesign than the one he received by the film's end when the Goblin persona took over once more.

Throughout Seinfeld’s run, Jerry had a lot of girlfriends, with relationships ranging from humiliating to disastrous. Even so, he was better suited to some of his girlfriends than others. While Seinfeld started as a show about how a standup comedian gathers his material, it ended up being an exploration of the minutiae of daily life — and that included dating. Whereas shows like Friends and How I Met Your Mother featured long-term relationships and recurring love interests, the shallow, self-centered protagonists of Seinfeld usually found a reason to dump someone after a single episode's worth of time.
As a result, every character in Seinfeld had plenty of love interests over the years. Kramer dated Pam, Wendy, Audrey, Gail, Noreen, Tina, and Olive; Elaine dated Tony, Darryl, Tim Whatley, Lloyd Braun, and “Crazy” Joe Davola; and George dated Nina, Marcy, Anna, Diane, Karen, and Mary Anne.

The following contains spoilers for Insidious: The Red Door, now playing in theaters.
An important trait of Patrick Wilson's Insidious: The Red Door is how the franchise is brought full circle by reconciling the history of the Lambert family. It turns out, Josh's past is still connected to the threats from the Further. It's why entities there keep haunting him and Dalton, despite their mind-wipe at the end of the second film.
Thankfully, Josh gets help from his dad, Ben Burton, after realizing the connection hasn't been severed. The ghost returns to assist against the very being that started it all: the Lipstick Face Demon. Unfortunately, Insidious 5 doesn't do this tyrant much justice, despite him being touted as the big boss in this macabre realm.

The following contains spoilers for Insidious: The Red Door, now playing in theaters.
One of the intriguing aspects of Insidious: The Red Door is Patrick Wilson directing. He's known for being on camera as the franchise's lead protagonist, Josh Lambert. But this is his debut in the director's char, leaving fans excited to see his vision. He's no slouch in the horror genre, after all, especially since he's also a linchpin in The Conjuring movies, too.
For Insidious 5, Wilson does a commendable job on and off camera in a chapter that seems to put Insidious on hiatus. However, while there is a tease in the post-credits the Further may still be active, there's another cool Easter egg regarding Wilson himself in the actual credits. Once more, it shows he's a versatile artist.

Lucasfilm’s Industrial Light & Magic, which won Oscars for the visual effects in Steven Spielberg’s Indiana Jones films Raiders of the Lost Ark and Temple of Doom, returned to use every trick in the book on the whopping 2,350 VFX shots in the fifth installment of the franchise.

With her now the de facto protagonist of the series, Lin Shaye is pitching her ideas for future Elise-focused Insidious movies. Insidious: The Red Door star Patrick Wilson has revealed his vision for the franchise's future after the latest film. Wilson reprises his role as Josh Lambert as he and his son Dalton (Ty Simpkins) are haunted by the Lipstick-Face Demon 10 years after the original Insidious. In addition, Insidious: The Red Door will mark Wilson's directorial debut as he continues the story of the Lambert family after Insidious: Chapter 2.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Wilson teased his vision for the franchise's future after the events of Insidious: The Red Door. While he confirms he is done with the franchise, he believes Simpkins, who has played Dalton since the original Insidious, could return. He compared his idea to the 2014 film Boyhood about a boy growing up, which was filmed over 12 years and starred Ellar Coltrane as he aged in real life. Check out what Wilson had to say below:

Warning: The following contains Spoilers for the finale of Gotham Knights. The way the short-lived Gotham Knights series brought Two-Face to life with no CGI proves that it is possible for superhero media to work with practical effects. This philosophy defies the conventional wisdom in Hollywood, which has spent billions of dollars in the past decade bringing various comic book characters to life. When it came to Two-Face, however, Gotham Knights proved that sometimes less is more.
Actor Misha Collins, who played the dual roles of District Attorney Harvey Dent and Two-Face on Gotham Knights, discussed some of the challenges inherent in working with special effects makeup in a video on Twitter. Hiding the scarred side of his face until the last moment, Collins described how the prosthetics made it "mostly impossible to say certain consonants," due to how they forced his mouth open to replicate Two-Face's infamous grin from the comics.

The superhero series Gotham Knights has reached its conclusion, recently airing its first season's finale on The CW. The episode also serves as the series finale for the show, as it was announced ahead of the episode that Gotham Knights had been canceled. While it's possible the show could be picked up elsewhere, there's been no indication of that happening as of yet, and there's a good chance the story won't be continued. And for some fans, that's a major bummer, as we won't get to see more of Misha Collins as Two-Face.
In the show, Collins plays Harvey Dent, the district attorney of Gotham City. Teases of his Two-Face transformation had been coming up during the season, with Harvey's dark side coming mentally, but it wasn't until the finale when the process was complete. American superhero show ‘Gotham Knights’ ended its run after Season 1, as The CW network decided not to renew the show for Season 2. Actor Misha Collins, who was playing District Attorney Harvey Dent in the series, had slowly begun transforming into his villain alter ego Two-Face, finally turning into him during the season finale.
However, as the show got scrapped after that moment, Collins said that he had hoped to further explore the character.
While the actor had earlier expressed his disappointment over the cancellation of the show on social media, speaking to Deadline, he said: “Well, as the series winds up, we’re really just getting introduced to the Two Face character, and it would have been rich and rewarding to have explored him devolving down the road and the inevitable fights to bring Harvey back, which would, of course, have involved a tremendous amount of inner turmoil.”

The following contains spoilers for Gotham Knights Season 1, Episode 12, "City of Owls," which debuted June 20 on The CW.
It's disappointing Gotham Knights will be canceled after just one season as there are some intriguing arcs unfolding. Turner Hayes is trying to become a better leader, while Carrie Kelley still wants to be a Robin, despite her mother finding out about her second life. Harper and Cullen Row along with Stephanie Brown are also evolving as vigilantes to save their home.
To top it off, Harvey Dent is trying to cage his Two-Face persona. He has created a city filled with wild cards that an unpredictable Court of Owls somehow finds a way to keep exploiting. However, in Gotham Knights' penultimate episode, the Court falls to a surprising fate. And it's all because of a macabre twist that promises a lot more death and calculated chaos to come.

Harrison Ford told CNN’s Chris Wallace that he wanted a solid ending for Indiana Jones, and he feels that “Dial of Destiny” provides that.
“Six years ago, I thought maybe we ought to take a shot at making another one. And I wanted it to be about age because I think that rounds out the story that we’ve told and we brought it to the right place,” Ford said, in video you can watch above. “I mean, the last one ended in kind of a suspended animation. There was not a real strong feeling of the conclusion or the closure that I always hoped for.”
At 80 years old, Ford reprised the role of the daring explorer that he started portraying at 38 years old in “Raiders of the Lost Ark” (1981).

Kevin Smith has seen the “Schumacher Cut” of Batman Forever and shared some amazing insight into the version of Joel Schumacher’s Batman Forever that never made it into theaters. As Batman Forever nears its 30th anniversary, campaigns for the director's cut of the film to be released have never been more popular. While it was unclear whether there was an actual director’s cut of Batman Forever, Kevin Smith has now absolutely confirmed that there is at least one different version of the 1995 Batman movie that most people have never seen.
Thanks to Batman Forever stills, interviewers from writers, and other bits of information, it is widely known that Batman Forever could have been a very different film. While Joel Schumacher was hired to make the next Batman movie less dark than Batman Returns, the filmmaker wanted to tell a character-driven story about Bruce Wayne’s trauma. During the FatMan Beyond podcast,...

Aminah Nieves
Who
Age: 27
Hometown: Hammond, Indiana
What
Newcomer Aminah Nieves plays Teonna Rainwater, a student — or rather, prisoner — of a Catholic boarding school in Montana. In 1923’s authentic depiction of how the church dehumanized indigenous youths while trying to assimilate them into European American culture, Teonna rages against — and ultimately escapes — her brutal captors. “I was scared a lot,” the actress recalls of her first season. “I wanted to make sure I was honoring every single human, every single family member, my grandparents, my aunties, my mom, my dad and then all of the communities. I’m so happy that I’m here and doing it and being a voice.”
Why
Joining 1923 was the realization of a dream she’s held since grade school. After appearing in the requisite school plays, Nieves traveled to New York, where she booked background actor jobs while making ends meet as an herbalist,...

The following contains major spoilers for Gotham Knights Season 1, Episode 11, "Daddy Issues," which debuted June 6 on The CW.
Duela has been a divisive aspect of the first season of Gotham Knights. Initially, it seemed like she'd be cutthroat in the field. But rather than dissect her dark nature and the clown's card she asked Cullen to steal for her, the series kept using her as romantic fodder for Turner Hayes.
The show has now made a massive directional shift regarding Duela, pushing her away from Bruce Wayne's son. And more so, it's down a path leading to self-discovery and her own identity as The Joker's Daughter. In the process, Gotham Knights unravels a major twist regarding Duela's true father, which could create a new hybrid villain in town.

Dragonslayer gets supersized in a striking Berserk cosplay.
Shared on Reddit, the costume recreates the Black Swordman's armor and his prosthetic arm. While multiple knives and weapons can be spotted throughout the image, a gigantic version of Guts' deadly sword dominates the picture. The prop easily dwarves the tall cosplayer.

The ongoing Berserk manga first appeared in the now-defunct Monthly Animal House magazine before it moved to Hakusensha's Young Anime in 1992, where it remains to this day. After creator Kentaro Miura sadly and unexpectedly passed away in 2021, mangaka Kouji Mori stepped up to continue the series with the help of the artists at Studio Gaga. The story follows Guts as he travels the dark fantasy world, killing monstrosities and seeking revenge against his former friend and commander, Griffith.

With just four days until “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” hits theatres, Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback chat about filming the franchise’s seventh instalment, plus Ramos reveals what it was like to suit up in his own autobot costume.
Among the upcoming film’s many shooting locations was the largest city in Canada’s Québec province — Montreal — which Ramos gushed over.
The actor loved the city so much that, when filming wrapped, he looked at Montreal apartments.
“I was like, ‘Oh, I think I’m going to move here,'” Ramos, 31, told Et Canada’s Carlos Bustamante.

The Dark Knight VFX artist explains Harvey Dent’s iconic Two-Face look and why director Christopher Nolan breached his typical style for the look. Played by Aaron Eckhart, Two-Face is the alter-ego of Harvey Dent, the former district attorney of Gotham City. A long-time Batman villain, The Dark Knight’s Two-Face took on a different approach to the role as Dent’s character was far less over-the-top than in previous renditions of the role.
The Corridor Crew welcomed one of The Dark Knight's VFX artists to break down Eckhart’s iconic Two-Face look.
The team explained that Two-Face’s disfigured visage had to be achieved with CGI because of the nature of the technology being subtractive. Prosthetic makeup is additive, meaning it would extend the face and add layers to it, whereas CGI has the ability to remove elements of the face in a way that a prosthetic could not.
