Daniel Craig has blamed his James Bond fame for making him feel disconnected from the world. The 57-year-old’s sting playing 007 kicked off with ‘Casino Royale’ in 2006 and he continued in the role in subsequent films ‘Quantum of Solace’ (2008), ‘Skyfall’ (2012), ‘Spectre’ (2015) – before concluded his run as the super-spy in ‘No Time to Die’ in 2021.He has now has candidly discussed the challenges of fame and his tenure as James Bond in an interview with Italy’s ‘Il Corriere della Sera’.Reflecting on the overwhelming nature of celebrity he felt when he took the Bond role, he said: “Fame is disembodying. And no one teaches you how to be famous.“At the beginning, I hid away, I didn’t want to be around people, I no longer knew how to exist in the world.“You do lose a part of your life.” Beyond Bond, Daniel has showcased his versatility with...

If you’re a fan of movies and television, you’ve probably heard the names Colin Farrell and Luca Guadagnino a whole bunch in recent years. Now, the two seem like they’re bound to collaborate on a new Sgt. Rock movie for DC Studios, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The news follows reports from late last year that Daniel Craig was circling the role, though DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran confirmed last month that no official offer was ever extended to the former James Bond actor. Should a deal finalize between Farrell and the studio, the film is expected to shoot this summer in England.
Farrell is no stranger to DC properties, as he portrayed The Penguin in both Matt Reeves’ The Batman and in the eponymous HBO series The Penguin. For Guadagnino, however, the flick will mark his first foray into comic book movies. The...

Rock’, a new adaptation of the DC Comics series directed by Luca Guadagnino. The 47-year-old actor, currently best known among younger fans for playing the Penguin in ‘The Batman’, is being considered for the part after Daniel Craig, 56, dropped out of the project in February, according to Variety.‘Sgt. If at first you don't succeed with one name-brand actor, well, just try again with another. For some reason, DC has been trying to make comic book character Sgt. Rock happen for quite some time now. Early reports date back to the early 2000s, first with Arnold Schwarzenegger attached for the role of the gruff title character before director Guy Ritchie began circling the project in 2008. The WWII soldier ended up on the backburner when those plans fell apart over the years, only to get resurrected in the most bizarre (but strangely compelling) way imaginable. When last we heard, none other than "Queer" filmmaker Luca Guadagnino and actor Daniel Craig were set to reunite on -- and lend their combined star power to -- a "Sgt. Rock" film under James Gunn and Peter Safran's DC Studios. If that seemed too good to be true, well, that's exactly what it...

DC Studios has recruited Colin Farrell once again, but it's not for The Penguin. It's being reported that the award-winning star of the HBO drama is joining James Gunn's DC Universe as one of the canon's lesser-known superheroes. Despite already being featured in one of DC's most high-profile and well-received projects in recent memory, Farrell sets his sights on a creative collaboration for the ages. The project has been in and out of development for decades, but Sgt. Rock is finally ready to make his big-screen debut.
According to Deadline, Colin Farrell is in talks to join Luca Guadagnino's Sgt. Rock, an action period piece set during World War II. After Daniel Craig pulled out of the starring role, it seems the studio moved quickly to attach another actor, this time someone familiar with the superhero genre. Farrell will now be starring in both Gunn's Dcu and...

Colin Farrell is in talks to star in in Luca Guadagnino’s “Sgt. Rock” movie at DC Studios, according to an insider with knowledge of the project.
The script is written by Justin Kuritzkes, who previously wrote “Challengers” and “Queer” for Guadagnino. The film is expected to be a period piece set during World War II.
Sgt. Rock is one of DC Comics’ most famous military characters and is the leader of Easy Company. Created by Robert Kanigher and Joe Kubert, he first appeared in 1959’s “Our Army at War” before getting his own series in 1977 that ran for 11 years.
Daniel Craig was previously circling the role, but never got an offer according to DC Studio chiefs James Gunn and Peter Safran. DC Studios is planning to shoot the movie this summer in the United Kingdom.

Colin Farrell may be double-dipping in the DC Universe. “The Penguin” star is circling the lead in “Sgt. Rock,” a comic book adaptation from Luca Guadagnino.
Daniel Craig was eyed for the role, but the actor never formally committed to the movie before he dropped out of consideration in February.
In the comics, Sgt. Rock is a World War II hero and combat fighter. There have been attempts to bring the character to the screen over the years with actors like Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger, but those films never came to pass.
This attempt is expected to begin shooting this summer in England. Justin Kuritzkes, who previously wrote “Challengers” and “Queer” for Guadagnino, is penning the “Sgt. Rock” screenplay. Colin Farrell, who waddled his way to considerable acclaim for his work as a classic DC villain in The Penguin, is in negotiations to return to the world of DC with Sgt. Rock, the World War II action movie to be directed by Luca Guadagnino for DC Studios.
The move comes after Daniel Craig, who circled the feature project, officially stepped away and is now entertaining a role in Greta Gerwig and Netflix’s take on Narnia. No offer was ever made to Craig, DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran said in February. At the time, they said the project would shoot this summer “only if we find the perfect actor.”
The move indeed puts Rock on track for a shoot this summer in DC Studios’ production hub in England.
If a deal makes, Farrell would play the tough-as-nails leader of Easy Company, the combat unit fighting Nazi forces in Europe.

The 49th Hong Kong International Film Festival will kick off on April 10 with dual opening features, Japanese drama The Brightest Sun and Malaysia-Hong Kong co-production Pavane for an Infant. Timothée Chalamet is everywhere right now, from Oscar-nominated performances to red carpets and new major hit films, but his fame didn’t start with glitzy Hollywood premieres. No, it actually started quite the opposite. The 28-year-old actor, who’s now dating one of Hollywood’s hottest A-Listers, Kylie Jenner, has become a major figure in pop culture, yet his rise to stardom is filled with laughable moments from his earlier years. Before he was captivating audiences in ‘A Complete Unknown’ and ‘Dune’, Chalamet’s internet presence was a hilarious, unfiltered collection of embarrassing clips that would go viral today. Growing up in New York City as a teenager, he made waves on Youtube, performed in talent shows, and never shied away from showing his goofy side. These digital gems—ranging from his awkward interviews to freestyle performances—have become part of his charm, blending his theater-kid, nerdy origins with the star we see today.

Our recent review of “Opus” may very well leave some of you looking to a list ranking the “best A24 movies” as a sweet bout of hypocrisy; the fandom surrounding the distributor has been well-documented and thoroughly lambasted, so what purpose is served exactly by compiling a list of the best films that just so happen to have been acquired by a specific group of New York millennials tapped into meme culture? In examining the films that have garnered the studio such status, though, it’s not impossible to envision certain patterns in these independent features that might have attracted those millennials to acquire these films in the first place—in essence, while there is no such thing as a style defined in an “A24 film,” there is certainly a particular breed of audacious art films that the studio prefers to platform with all their savvy marketing magic, to the mutual benefit of all involved.

With movie awards season over, and rumors that Adrian Brody’s Oscar acceptance speech is finally coming to an end, the year 2025 sees a surprising amount of faces coming straight back into the conversation. For one, Zoe Saldaña will be putting her Supporting Actress Oscar to good use on the publicity trail for one of the biggest tentpoles of the year: James Cameron’s Fire and Ash, the third in the Avatar series, in which she reprises her role as Na’vi princess Neytiri.
It doesn’t seem especially likely that lightning will strike twice for Saldaña, but the win will bring extra gravitas to the franchise, which secured four nominations (including Best Picture) last time. Fire and Ash hits cinemas in the middle of December, usually a risky strategy, awards-wise — think Wonka, Nosferatu and even A Complete Unknown — but Cameron has good form on this front, and, presumably for...

TV comedy legend and founding Simpsons writer Mike Reiss is used to pushing the boundaries of corporate censorship, and NBC is just lucky that he never introduced Alf to Michael Jackson.
For all of Reiss’ incredible writing and producing credits — The Simpsons, The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, It’s Garry Shandling’s Show and more — it’s easy to overlook his time working on a brief, bizarre, science-fiction sitcom shortly before The Simpsons shot into the stratosphere. As Reiss openly admits, the average fan who approaches him on the street is more likely to talk to him about Queer Duck than they are to ask about Alf, but that doesn’t mean that Reiss’ memories of the NBC show about a wise-cracking, cat-eating alien living with a middle-class family in the San Fernando Valley are any less out-of-this-world.

The 2025 Academy Awards are right around the corner, and it has already started making noise among fans and critics alike. Featuring genre-bending films and celebrating innovative acting, this year’s lineup shows an incredible range of modern cinema.
With an emphasis on diversity, bold storytelling, and creative cinematography, the Academy has nominated a wide range of films that have quite different approaches to cinema than traditional films.

Despite the diversity and bold genres being selected, this year’s nominations have not outrun controversies. The Apprentice’s lead actor Sebastian Stan received a nomination for Best Actor for a Leading Role, while actors like Daniel Craig did not get listed despite his solid performance in a critically acclaimed film like Queer. Another film dominating conversations is Emilia Pérez.
The Jacques Audiard-directed film has taken center stage with its record-breaking thirteen nominations.

Apart from Call Me By Your Name, awards voters rarely see anything worth celebrating in Luca Guadagnino's cinema. In some ways, this season seemed to be a change of pace on that front, with Challengers and Queer going into Oscar nomination morning with some hopes. Sadly, they both got blanked. And while the tennis melodrama was mostly vying for "below the line" honors, Queer had its sight set on a Best Actor nomination, the first piece of Academy Award recognition for the erstwhile Bond, Daniel Craig. Ultimately, the William S. Burroughs adaptation was probably too weird for AMPAS' tastes, but we're here to recognize a performance that's nothing if not Oscar-worthy…...

In what was perhaps one of the most significant moments of the SAG Awards, Timothée Chalamet took home the award for best male actor in a leading role for his performance as Bob Dylan in the biopic-drama A Complete Unknown. The win was Chalamet's first major award, with the actor making history by becoming the youngest actor ever to win the SAG award for lead actor. In bagging the award, Chalamet surpassed Nicolas Cage's record from Leaving Las Vegas (1995).
The best actor category has historically been a big-name category, and Chalamet went up against several industry veterans, including Adrien Brody for his performance in The Brutalist, Daniel Craig for his role in Queer, Ralph Fiennes for Conclave and Colman Domingo for Sing Sing. DC Studios has confirmed that a Sgt. Rock movie is in the works for the DC Universe. The confirmation came after studio heads James Gunn and Peter Safran were asked about Daniel Craig's departure from the World War II movie.
Per Variety, Gunn and Safran recently held a press event for DC Studios' upcoming film and television slate. When the topic of Craig exiting Sgt. Rock came up; Safran clarified that the James Bond actor "was never attached" to the movie, so he couldn't have dropped out. The DC head went on to explain that the actor had merely been floated as a possible candidate for the role due to having just appeared in Sgt. Rock director Luca Guadagnino's previous film, Queer. "But, you know, we never met with Daniel. He was just an idea," Safran said, with Gunn adding, "Well, we never really even announced Sgt. Rock.

The actors have weighed in on the 2025 Oscar race — and it's potentially game-changing.
Sunday’s 31st Screen Actors Guild Awards saw several of this year’s key competitors face off one last time before the Academy Awards on March 2 and the ceremony delivered more than a few surprises. Perhaps none was more significant than Timothée Chalamet winning Best Actor for his turn as Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown in an upset over the awards-season favorite, The Brutalist star Adrien Brody. Or maybe it was Conclave thwarting high-powered rivals Anora and Wicked to land the night's biggest prize of best film ensemble.
Wicked came into the evening with a record-tying five nominations for film categories but failed to win anything. Anora, after a dominating run in precursor awards in recent weeks, finished 0-for-3.

In a “simple twist of fate,” Timothée Chalamet has made history.
Chalamet won his first major awards precursor for his transformational performance as Bob Dylan in James Mangold’s biopic “A Complete Unknown.”
“I know we’re in a subjective business, but the truth is, I’m really in pursuit of greatness,” Chalamet said while accepting his award. “I know people don’t usually talk like that, but I want to be one of the greats. I’m inspired by the greats. I’m inspired by the greats here tonight. I’m as inspired by Daniel Day Lewis, Marlon Brando and Viola Davis as I am by Michael Jordan, Michael Phelps, and I want to be up there. So I’m deeply grateful. This doesn’t signify that, but it’s a little more fuel. It’s a little more ammo to keep going. Thank you so much.”

It looks like Daniel Craig‘s reunion with “Queer” director Luca Guadagnino won’t be happening; at least not on “Sgt. Rock,” at least. Variety reports that the ex-James Bond actor isn’t involved in Guadagnino’s upcoming Dcu project. The news follows up on a report from last November with Craig attached to the Sgt. Rock role, but apparently, the actor never formally committed to the film.

Despite rumors that Daniel Craig would star in DC Studios' Sgt. Rock, the actor is no longer attached to the project. Sgt. Rock was set to be a Queer reunion as Luca Guadagnino would reteam with former James Bond star Craig, and Justin Kuritzkes would pen the script. However, Warner Bros., DC Studios, and director Luca Guadagnino might have their eyes set on the star of The Bear to lead their upcoming film, which could enter production sooner than expected.
