Vidura B.R. - Monsoon Season

Wonderful deadpan delivery of life seen through a Sri Lankan diasporic lense, via a throughly modern (and very self-deprecating) outlook. Having lived in the US, Germany and the UK, Vidura's got a great perspective on the absurdity of modern life. And I've known Sri Lankans were funny since I first had dinner with my extended family but Vidura's relaxed, open style - the weary troubador sat down telling tales - will allow everyone to appreciate the best in Sri Lankan humour: deceptively gentle, deeply cynical but always thoroughly charming. One to watch for sure - before he's everywhere just like Romesh.

After watching Vidura's tik tok content, was very keen to watch Monsoon Season. It did not disappoint.

His observations on sex, politics and religion - the things we are not supposed to talk about, have me laughing out loud. His perspective and social commentary is fresh, relevant and sharp. Even his reviews are charming and funny.

The only problem was it was over too soon. With his humble and easy style, this guy is as smooth as a gravy sandwich. Can't wait to see more. I hope you will come to Australia, we love a comedy festival.

Definitely recommend seeing his show now, before the ticket cost is over 50 bucks.

An amazingly funny, truthful and insightful show. Vidura, in a very honest script, tells the story of many migrants and our journey towards upgrading to "expats", through a sophisticated and sharp delivery. You not only laugh, but also learn and question many of the current assumptions of what is "development" and the paradoxes of modern life.

The energy is high the whole time, joke after joke, effortlessly. I felt revindicated with his de-colonial humor. For once, someone captures the daily behaviors that still carry colonial thinking and privilege in the west. It can be quite healing to hear someone talk openly about cultural stereotypes and the different perspectives across the globe.

Excelent show for both people from the Global North & South to enjoy together =)

This show has an impeccable comedic rhythm that keeps you entertained from beginning to end. It's an ideal mix of humour and political education, and it is unsurprisingly going viral on many social media platforms, as even the shortest clip will contain a cleverly set punchline. Its brilliance lies in Vidura's smooth delivery of the nastiest and harshest truths on immigration and the point of view of a person of colour living in Europe, immediately followed by an explanation of why Berlin orgies are not his favourite thing. Everything about this show is just so well-timed and provocative in the best way, I guarantee you'll love it.

Sharp, dry, witty and very very funny!

Vidura denounces sensitive (world)matters in a very funny way, saves no self-mockery and also looks damn good. (Which from my point of view is very important as you have to look at him for a whole hour :P).

I found it a very refreshing show and really different from what I've been seeing the last years. He makes you laugh and also think about certain matters where a lot of people can relate to. Super glad that he accidentally came across on my Instagram timeline. A feast for the ear and eye and I can't wait to see his show in the Netherlands. Go see him!
