Its just a very boring, and meh sitcom. It wasn't funny, or charming. It doesn't help that the acting feels very stale and bad, and I know acting in sitcoms usually isn't the best, but it feels worse than usual. I say avoid this one. The concept of it was good enough. A dad suddenly not having a job so suddenly he has to become a house husband. I don't think that has really been done before, so at least its a new idea. Only thing is, is that it just doesn't have any charm. Why do people like Friends, King of Queens, Seinfield, or Everybody Loves Raymond? Because they were funny and charming. Most of the characters are usually likable in some way, and they're good to have on for reruns or whatever. The problem is, that See Dad Run has none of that. It isn't funny. It isn't charming. It is a very boring sitcom.
The writing on this show is shockingly good. I had expected something that was just thrown together to try to appeal to an audience that would be interested in the novelty of Scott Baio returning to TV. Yes, this is in the classic sitcom format (parents, kids, living room, kitchen, life lessons, etc.), but the characters have gotten better and more integrated with one another, and the clever scripts and Baio's timing are far above other cable standard fare. The inclusion of Baio's character's former role as sitcom star is not as hokey as it might sound. It takes the edge off some of the "life lesson" content, and references to his prior gig make for good comedic fodder.
Typical characters (Dad who doesn't know how to take care of his kids, mom who doesn't trust dad to take care of kids, bratty teenage daughter, cute little sister, weird brother) The episodes are so predictable. You know exactly what's going to happen at the end. The characters do stupid things. There are lame jokes that have been used millions of times on other shows. I have seen many episodes of this show, and I've never laughed once while watching this show. Overall, this show is nothing special. I wouldn't even consider it entertaining. Take my advice, and skip this show. It's not worth watching. I can not express how stupid this show is. It's just so horrible
Just not a believable dad in this role. His performance gives off a psycho vibe, like we only see one side of his schizophrenic personality but the evil madness leaks through anyway. You shudder for his daughters.
In my opinion I like it (mainly because of Ryan Newman, relax I'm 16) the show is kind of like a lot of other sitcoms with a irresponsible dad who can't raise his kids too well (he use to be on a TV show for a decade), a somewhat strict mom, a bratty daughter, a strange son and the youngest daughter who is all ways telling on the older ones, and his weird assistant. But I really do enjoy it and I have a few good laughs here and there but I can really focus on it no matter what, it's another one of my favorite shows now.In my opinion everybody should at least give it a chance instead of just saying "meh" but that's just my opinion. I have to give it a 10 out of 10 cause I really do enjoy the show.
