Based on everything of his that I have seen so far, "Spoilsbury Toast Boy" seems to be Firth at his most genuinely, spine tinglingly shocking. It's a short series of creepy horror/drama/dystopian animations centering around a small, disturbed child and the beetle- ruled world that makes up his ugly surroundings. While there is some dark humor, as can be expected from Firth, the comedy is often overshadowed by horrific and vile tragedy. There are images in this series that are filled to the brim with heavy shock value, but the horror doesn't stop there. The entire series has this unnerving atmosphere, a mood so depressing and bleakly terrifying it heightens the shocking effects of some of the imagery. It's a Gothic, moody work of distressing genius.
