A small time crook living in the city of Rotterdam. He is not the worst of people but he's certainly no saint either. High hopes,....expected some rotterdams humor but it didnt make the expectations at all. All big dutch actors but not the movie. It was not funny the story wasnt even catchy. I watched it till the end hoping for it to get better, but till the end it stayed like it had begun. Standard jokes which werent even funny. They could have done much better. Such a shame, it was not worth the time, not even on a rainy Sunday afternoon. I dont understand the rating which was given for this movie. Half of the rating was already too high. Really a disappointment and unsatisfying feeling afterwards. Can somebody explain to me where the 7,5 comes from? What did i miss??
You gotta love the iconic Martin van Waardenberg, but unfortunately he makes bad decisions too, and this is one of them. The movie has no scenario, it just movie from one scene with a 'famous Dutch person' to the next one.
The comedy is only seldomly funny. The drama is cringey; badly acted and badly written. And even Van Waardenberg himself is not on top of his game: he can play a foulmouted fool like no one else, but this is not one of his top 50 performances.
I wanted to like this movie, and there were some chuckles ("betonknie") in the beginning scenes, but irritations grew as the movie progressed.
The proceeds of the movie are apparently for a children's hospital, there you have it, at last something positive about this mess of a movie.

Beautiful movie. Martin deserves a gouden kalf for his performance. Laugh, cry, black comedy. For a Dutch movie great played. The film takes you into the life of uncle Cor. Well acted by all the actors, beautiful images of Rotterdam. The movie gives you a smile and a tear. Really well made for a low budget film. This film deserves to be embraced by a large audience. I don't understand why it is only seen a couple of times in a cinema. It really must be showed in all cinemas in Holland. Well directed, well acted and a great story. Forget the critical reviews, these are incorrect and based on nothing. Just see for yourself.
This movie was made out of an idea with next to no budget or even a proper script. It is clearly made to have fun and a lot of Dutch actors joined in the fun by having a small role. The story is simple, but the overall quality is quite good.
Watching the movie, you see Ome Cor slowly getting himself in more and more trouble. He has himself to blame, but it seems the world is just a bit too complicated for him. He is lovable, so everybody knows him. At some point in time he seems to have scammed pretty much everybody (mostly not paying small bills or loans). Some still tolerate him and see him as the character he is, but he is all out of credit with most.
If you can enjoy the character it is a fun movie to watch. The movie breaths Rotterdam in both the settings, but also in the characters played in the movie.

This movie is so unbelievably bad that we kept asking ourselves if we were missing the point. Because we just couldn't imagine how anyone could make this. You cannot even say that the makers failed, because that would require at least a basic idea on which to fail. Instead, it seems like they asked a bunch of well-known Rotterdammers - many of them talented and esteemed actors - to contribute a scene, without anyone having a clue what story they were going to be a part of. Including, unfortunately, the director.
Since the profits of this film are donated to the Sophia Children's Hospital, I suggest you make a direct payment to them and save yourself the embarrassment of watching this movie.
