Solo Leveling is a franchise that has quickly become synonymous with success, as it continues to dominate discussions among anime fans. Jin-woo's adventure has continuously captivated audiences with its amazing plot, memorable characters, and stunning art style. The series has achieved many impressive milestones that no other anime in history has been remotely close to.
Yet, despite this unprecedented success, many fans have made their concern for the franchise known after it failed to reach the top of the best-selling adult graphic novels during July. Despite being considered the biggest anime of the moment, the original manhwa from which the show was inspired has found it hard to reach American audiences.

In Episode 7 of Dandadan Season 2, Momo, Okarun, and their friends were seen chanting Dragon Ball’s iconic Tri-Beam attack while “pouring love” into the food at a maid café. Now, it may sound a little strange, but that’s exactly how Japanese maid cafés work.
It’s like a ritual where the waitresses in maid outfits pretend to pour love and care into the food to make it “extra delicious” before serving. But what no one saw coming was that instead of saying their usual chant, Moe Moe Kyun, Momo came up with Moe Moe Tri-Beam, a clear reference to Tien’s iconic attack in Dragon Ball, which also goes by the name Tri-Beam in the original series.

Sakamoto Days part 1 received a mixed bag of reactions. While some considered it a lighthearted Shonen anime, others found it straying from the manga. Even though the source material has a balance of slice-of-life and action moments, the anime heavily cuts down on the slice-of-life elements.
Matthew Mercer, the voice actor of Taro Sakamoto, is also fond of the contrast between the protagonist’s assassin and family life. Unfortunately, the direction of the anime did not focus much on the cosy moments of the series.
Even Mathew Mercer Is Aware of What Makes Sakamoto Days Special
Matthew Mercer has voiced plenty of popular characters like Levi Ackerman from Attack on Titan, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure‘s Jotaro Kujo, Hunter x Hunter‘s Leorio, and more. Recently, when Rurouni Kenshin’s 30th anniversary was celebrated across the world, several controversies revolving around its creator, Hirohiko Araki, arose. When asked to share a tribute illustration to Nobuhiro Watsuki for Araki’s achievement, the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure creator submitted his piece, which was so outrageously off-model that it felt more like satire than sincerity.
Ignoring the fact that it was made on a napkin during a dentist appointment, his drawing turned into a meme. But underneath all the laughs, fans found this moment to be a sign of rebellion or protest. While Araki sent a well-to-do drawing, we have Tite Kubo, who simply refused to participate at all. Araki proved once again that everything he does is a JoJo’s reference, even this quiet rebellion, while Kubo chose silence as the loudest message.

After over two decades since its initial release in Japan, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run is finally hitting Viz Media’s Shonen Jump digital vault. June 24 marked the first full, officially released English-language serialization of Part 7 of the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure saga on the app. The story is often regarded as Hirohiko Araki’s most ambitious and critically acclaimed arc in the JoJo's franchise.
Originally serialized in Japan beginning in 2004, Steel Ball Run was a soft reboot to the JoJo saga, featuring a new continuity, new protagonist and new, big genre and aesthetic swings. The arc takes place in the 1890s, following Johnny Joestar and Gyro Zeppeli competing in a cross-country horse race throughout America for a $50 million prize, unraveling a conspiracy as they go. The competition, as well as the manga’s brash, surreal depiction of the United States, make for a one-of-kind backdrop for classic JoJo battles and philosophical introspection.

There are great achievements, and then there’s the feeling of knowing exactly who voiced a particular character just by hearing them for the first time. As great as that feeling is, you probably won’t experience it if you watch Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. For instance, it’s hard to believe that Himmel and Bakugou are voiced by the same actor.
The voice actors have done such a phenomenal job that they’re unrecognizable. Their versatility and talent shine through in their performance, so here are some of the voice actors from Frieren and their most popular roles.

Stark is a part of the central trio in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, and he’s voiced by Chiaki Kobayashi. The voice actor has also played Mash Burndead from Mashle, Louis James Moriarty from Moriarty the Patriot, and Gabimaru from Hell’s Paradise.

Atsushi Ohkubo’s Fire Force is a story filled to the brim with relentless plot twists, intense actions, and fantastic villains that send chills down the spine. While one can point to Giovanni or Amaterasu as their favorite antagonists, Sister Sumire has always been my favorite, and the reason for this has to do with her being a nun. If you have watched Fire Force Season 3’s Episode 8, then you are going to agree with me.
There is something about a person of God being shown as a villainous individual that I find twisted and refreshing. I guess this is why Sister Sumire, according to me, is the most diabolical villain in Fire Force.

New JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run Release Draws Immediate Controversy Ahead of Next Anime
Viz Media’s new English translation of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run is already being criticized by fans shortly after its release. An anime adaptation of the story was announced last month.
"Steel Ball Run Volume 1 officially released in English today. The translation is great, but there are a few editing errors," @Jojo_Wiki wrote via X (formerly Twitter). "Documenting them here in case Viz would like to fix them." The attached image includes multiple errors in the English translation, including major mistakes like a misprinted date in the story and left-behind Japanese text, along with more minor visual errors like erased fingers and a cloned mouth.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure's live-action spinoff, Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan, has upset more than a few fans with the reveal that its newest project, the movie At A Confessional, extensively used AI to create the soundtrack. The reveal ignited a major controversy among fans, with some Japanese moviegoers threatening to boycott the film.
At A Confessional is a film adaptation of the first chapter of Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan, based on the spinoff anthology manga by Hirohiko Araki starring Jojo's Bizarre Adventure's Rohan. The film had been highly anticipated by fans of the live action series, which had been drawing from other chapters of the series for its content. Given that it's a live-action production, one would think the risk of AI getting involved would be unlikely, but that's unfortunately not been the case. As it turns out, the film's composer, Naruyoshi Kikuchi, proudly announced that he "did not compose a single piece.

It isn’t very often you hear about a director clashing with a composer in the anime industry. They complement each other’s styles and make a masterpiece. Just see how brilliantly Joe Hisaishi works with Studio Ghibli’s Hayao Miyazaki. However, the composer of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure broke this pattern.
Naruyoshi Kikuchi, who often worked on JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure as a composer, confessed to using artificial intelligence for his songs in the live-action spin-off film, Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan: At a Confessional. He did not feel shame, however. He was proud of using AI in his craft.
This is a pretty big deviation from how Hirohiko Araki, the creator of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, feels about AI. He didn’t just condemn those who use it, he labeled them fraudsters. Knowing how strongly the mangaka feels about it, Kikuchi still took the risk and used AI in his compositions for At a Confessional.

Naruyoshi Kikuchi, a composer who worked on Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, boasted about using AI to produce a soundtrack for one of the franchise's prominent releases. Series creator Hirohiko Araki previously condemned the controversial tech, equating those who use it as "con artists."
According to JoJo's Bizarre Encyclopedia, Kikuchi proudly admitted using AI to compose the soundtrack for Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan: At a Confessional on X (formerly Twitter). "This is the first original soundtrack in the history of global entertainment films in which all tracks were composed by AI," Kikuchi said. ‘Fire Force’ Has Given Me Confidence About How Good ‘JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure’ Part 7 Is Going to Be
If you’re still living under a rock, it’s time to get out of it, because JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 7 is here to revolutionize the entire anime industry. And it’s not just me saying it; ask any pro manga reader, and they’d say the same. It’s not a coincidence that JoJo Part 7 is ranked 2nd on MyAnimeList’s top-rated manga of all time.
But because of the immense hype surrounding its anime adaptation, there’s one thing that people must be most concerned about – the animation. Which is why, from the bottom of my heart, I pray to the anime gods that Studio David Production does justice to the series, and the good news is they might actually pull it off. I mean, their latest Fire Force episodes are already giving me enough confidence to see it happening.

Jujutsu Kaisen creator Gege Akutami has shocked and delighted fans by unveiling a heartfelt tribute to JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure in the 2025 summer edition of Jojo Magazine. The featured illustration showcases fan-favorite JoJo characters Rohan Kishibe and Ken Oyanagi, drawn entirely in Akutami’s signature style. While many manga artists openly admire Hirohiko Araki's influential work, this collaboration stands out as a rare moment of creative reverence that blends two of the most popular supernatural franchises in modern manga.
Even more intriguing is Akutami’s personal commentary, according to @jojo_wiki on X, which highlights his admiration for Diamond is Unbreakable. He cited a particular scene where Josuke spares Okuyasu’s life as a moment that encapsulates the part’s grounded emotional realism. For a creator known for the relentless pace and moral ambiguity of Jujutsu Kaisen, Akutami’s appreciation for this quieter, more character-driven moment in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure...

It wouldn’t be an overstatement to call Wind Breaker the next thing. It is packed with action, emotional buildup, and most of all, diverse characters. They’re layered and well-written, but there are downsides to that as well.
Of late, Satoru Nii may have struck a nerve with his manga. This didn’t sit well with some fans. The series got unnecessary backlash and hate from the fans, especially with its recent episodes.
But here’s the thing: while the manga received harsh criticism for its queer representation, One Piece conveniently got away with it. So why is it that one series shoulders the hate while the other gets a pass? Let’s find out.

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure might be primarily known for its characters’ unique poses, but it is also pretty popular for its character designs. Yes, they are fantastical, with a hint of the absurd, and have the fandom in a chokehold. But much like in Wind Breaker, these clothing choices have specific stories to tell.

Everything is a JoJo reference is a mantra all JoJo fans live by. This is why I’m ashamed to admit that I missed the biggest JoJo reference in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. During an interview, the motion-capture actor Allan Henry confirmed how he incorporated a JoJo reference in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

If you have to pull one anime villain as a representation of all ultimate villains, it probably has to be the great Sōsuke Aizen from Bleach. His suave tone in his voice, his mind-blowing “Zanpakutō” that messes with your head, and his devious plans to dethrone the “Soul King” make Aizen downright relentless.
From brains, charm, to his insane power, Aizen has got pretty much everything that drives fans simply mad for anything he does. And who knows the Soul Society better than Aizen? The way he played and deceived his comrades was wicked, but it blew our minds.
But hold up, he has got some tough competition out there in the anime community. You could replace JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure with fashion in a sentence, and nothing would change. That is why when Alton Mason made a JoJo reference at the Met Gala Red Carpet, nobody was surprised. After all, what is a better place to honor fashion than the biggest annual celebration of fashion history? When it comes to bold and colorful fashion choices, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is second to none.
The over-the-top styling is a core element of the anime-manga series. Hirohiko Araki treated the manga panels like a ramp, and sent the most gorgeous looking characters in colorful clothing or you could also call it JoJo couture. So, every time a celebrity picks a JoJo outfit for major events and rocks it, fans have nothing but appreciation for their elite taste.

Ace’s death is one of the most tragic moments in One Piece, but anime fans will be damned if they don’t make it into a meme. Plenty of characters outside of this series have died in the same way he has, with their enemy putting a hole in their chest. Fans have jokingly dubbed them the “Doughnut Club.”
Akainu and Ace’s Devil Fruits are quite similar, both having to do with heat. However, the Fleet Admiral controls magma, which is far superior to fire. The Whitebeard Commander had no chance against him. When he fell for his taunt and jumped in front of Luffy to protect him, we knew it was the end for him.
This started the iconic doughnut meme. Akainu punched a clean hole through Ace’s chest, making a ring that looks similar to a doughnut. One Piece fans haven’t gotten over it even after 14 years.

In a year when the Met Gala red carpet was overflowing with extravagant couture and daring silhouettes, one standout look managed to break the internet while paying homage to the beloved anime Jojo's Bizzare Adventure. Model Alton Mason turned heads and sparked conversation among both fashion lovers and anime fans by channeling JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, one of the most stylish and influential anime series of all time. While the theme of the gala was “Tailored for You,” Mason took the prompt in a bold direction by merging high fashion with anime iconography in a way no one saw coming.
Speaking with the press on the red carpet according to @jojo_wiki on X and @teenvogue on TikTok, Mason confirmed what fans had already begun speculating. “I have a favorite anime, it’s called JoJo,” he said. “And this is an ode to it. Giorno Giovanna has a cut-out, so I decided to include that.

Calling it a colorful adventure series is the best way to describe JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. However, a single genre or category can’t capture everything JoJo has to offer. The anime is a blend of multiple genres, and that includes horror, too. One could argue that it’s not typical horror, but the dogs in the series would disagree – most of them meet horrid ends.
Initially, the publishers of the manga were against the horror concept, but Hirohiko Araki still decided to move forward with it. The mangaka shared this during an interview. If it wasn’t for the horror, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure would not have been much different from other shonen series.
