Any action anime series will need some cool and strong villains to threaten the world and challenge the heroes. Weak, forgettable, or generic villains are sure to hold back the narrative somewhat, but truly great villains will make an action anime shine and keep viewers coming back for more. Whether those villains are halfway sympathetic beings or unforgivable monsters, they will be entertaining if they're stylish and strong.
A variety of action anime titles absolutely deliver on that front, and at times, the villains are more interesting than the heroes themselves. The best action anime with the best villains treat viewers to not just excellent fight scenes between good and evil, but also some thoughtful dialogue and ideological views from the villains. It's not enough for the antagonists to be strong — they also need an interesting why with what they do, and they should have strong personal convictions or even vulnerabilities to round things out.

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure isn’t a mere Shonen anime but a phenomenon. From cosplays to memes, Hirohiko Araki’s series has made waves on the internet. To say it is popular would be criminal considering its worldwide impact. This also goes for loyalists who await the seventh volume’s animated release.

Of late, an official source confirmed Steel Ball Run’s anime release which has fans all stoked up. Their excitement and responses are valid considering it’s been three years since the sixth season’s release. To say the least, Steel Ball Run is a riveting and engaging commentary on power.
Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 7 anime announced
If Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure were to be summed up in one word, it would be flamboyant. It is anything but a run-of-the-mill Shonen series, especially with its unique power system.

Heroes are an important part of any anime series, but it's the villains that really keep the audience hooked. Villains, in a way, are almost more important to the story than the heroes themselves are, as they're the ones who push the plot forward. Most of the time, they are, indeed, the plot itself. Villains like Mha's Tomura Shigaraki or Naruto's Orochimaru, push the conflict and raise the stakes. Villains, also, have the benefit of being a lot more avant-garde in terms of their presentation than heroes.
However, as is the nature of most stories, the villains eventually need to fall. And those moments should feel earned. They are an obstacle to climb for the heroes and that should be satisfying. Sometimes, the narrative has to step in and save the heroes. This happens for many reasons. The villain could have become too strong, or perhaps the hero’s...

Spoilers for "Invincible" season 3 to follow.
Robert Kirkman first worked with Steven Yeun when the latter played Glenn on "The Walking Dead" (a series based on Kirkman's long-running zombie comic). Then, when Prime Video turned Kirkman's superhero comic book "Invincible" into an animated show, Yeun got the series' leading role.
The cast of "Invincible" has since included a handful of other "Walking Dead" alums. The latest of them came the end of season 3 when Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who played the baseball bat-wielding apocalypse warlord Negan, arrived as the Viltrumite warrior Conquest. ("The Boys" isn't the only superhero show out there with Mr. Morgan in its cast.)

Hirohiko Araki didn’t limit the various Joestar Group to just male protagonists. In Part 6 of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, titled Stone Ocean, the JoJo this time was Jolyne Cujoh. She was the first female main protagonist in the entire expansive series and became an icon for it.

Araki, however, wanted to introduce a strong female protagonist well before Stone Ocean. Part 3, titled Stardust Crusaders, depicts Jotaro Kujo’s journey. A young girl named Anne follows his group from Pakistan and is featured in the first part.
The creator of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure wanted Anne to have a much bigger role in the series. He pitched the idea of her gaining a Stand to his editors. They, however, disagreed with them, stating that it wouldn’t appeal to the male Shonen demographic. This, of course, didn’t stop him from making Jolyne.

Remarkably few fights in the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure anime are a one-sided beatdown, aside from Yoshikage Kira butchering Josuke's team before retreating, or Diavolo ambushing Bruno Bucciarati. For the most part, the JoJo's anime keeps the tension at maximum with evenly matched battles, with the Stand-wielding heroes giving it their all each time to narrowly defeat their sinister opponents in the major story arcs.
Best of all, these narrow fights are usually a good mix of brawn and brains, with the Joestar heroes and their many JoBro allies needing all their wits and resourceful thinking to stay in the fight when the enemy has the upper hand. That leads to some of shonen anime's most intense and suspenseful battles, often with a surprise, last-minute move to decide the fight once and for all. These particular clashes in JoJo's stand out as fine examples of how evenly matched the fighters tend to be.

Most story arcs in the JoJo's Bizarre Adventureanime make good use of the Stands that appear, most of all the Stands belonging to heroes like Jotaro Kujo, Josuke, Giorno, Kakyoin, and Bruno Bucciarati. Those Stands showed anime fans the full extent of their powers and uses in many battles and adventures, but not all Stands had the same opportunity to shine. No matter their cool designs and their potential, some Stands were written out too soon.
That is bound to happen when an anime like JoJo's Bizarre Adventure uses most of its antagonists as "monster of the week" villains who show off their Stands in just one battle before getting knocked out of the story. In the case of simpler Stands, such as Tower of Gray, anime fans don't mind if an enemy Stand is used so briefly, but if the enemy Stand is super cool, it deserves more than that.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventureintroduces shonen anime fans to an unforgettable cast of characters in each story arc. As protagonists, Jotaro Kujo and Joseph Joestar are the two main standouts, which makes it easy for fans to gravitate to them. Aside from Jotaro and Joseph, however, there is a full cast of incredible characters in Hirohiko Araki's manga and anime thatshouldn't be ignored in the process.
Jotaro may be the face of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure franchise, and Joseph its funniest protagonist, but the rest of the cast all have memorable moments that make them unforgettable, including the Joestar heroes and their "JoBro" allies in each arc. Between scene-stealing lines of dialogue, dazzling outfits and poses, and their combat prowess, the other characters in Jjba stand out on their own, quickly becoming fan-favorites.

George Lucas and J.R.R. Tolkien created incredible fantasy universes that defined generations of storytelling. But while Western fans debate whether the Silmarils outshine kyber crystals, anime has quietly put forth fantastic franchises so steeped in lore they could dwarf Middle-earth.
The best anime franchises, no matter how many entries they have, stand out for constructing living mythologies that aren't afraid to bend and break the audience's—or its characters'—preconceived notions about the world. As anime’s largest and most popular demographic, shonen anime is full of titles spanning over every genre and subgenre imaginable. Many of the medium’s most iconic titles come from shonen, topping the charts as the greatest series of all time. From beloved classics like Dragon Ball and Fullmetal Alchemist to modern hits, such as Dandadan or Demon Slayer, shonen anime have been some of the most influential series in anime history. But while these popular series have gotten fans hooked for decades, they’re still far from perfect.
The anime industry is constantly evolving, improving with each new release. As a result, even some of the most legendary shonen series start to feel outdated. Many of the genre’s best haven’t aged as well as fans might have hoped, with visuals that no longer meet modern standards and writing that feels out of touch with today’s audiences.

It's easy for a short and sweet anime series to have no bad episodes to its name, since there are no points where the plot drags with slow buildup episodes. Anime like Chainsaw Man and Oshi no Ko are certainly like that, being a serious case of quality over quantity. Meanwhile, it's even more impressive for a lengthier anime to have no bad episodes, since a long anime has many more chances to drop the ball.
It's a given filler episodes and arcs are weaker than the canon episodes, so of course a long anime with filler episodes will have some weak installments, such as Naruto and Bleach. That's why fans love it when a longer anime's canon episodes make up for that with consistent quality, never dipping below mediocrity to keep the story and action going. When the anime is firing on all cylinders with filler out of the way,...

The JoJo's Bizarre Adventure anime is constantly being referenced. There's a game to be made in pointing out the JoJo reference in anything and everything. It is also a hard anime to really discuss with people who haven't watched it, as the content can be more than a little bizarre. There's a lot going on in the series with a lot to tackle when it comes to even scratching the surface in order to give a summary. That, often, isn't even enough to break down the scope of the franchise by a long shot, but there are some parts that are easier to sell than others.

Shonen anime series are well-known for their battles, but some anime characters love to fight more than the average cast member. Whether it’s to protect others or the simple thrill of combat, these main characters are eager to engage in battle. They are typically some of the most gifted fighters as well, making it clear why they enjoy it so much.
The best shonen anime protagonists who love to fight have a thirst to exercise their skills. Shonen anime is one of the most popular genres of anime, and it earned that popularity largely from the legendary anime that paved the way back in the 1990s. Many anime at the forefront of discussions today are from the '90s, whether it be Dragon Ball or JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, which was revived with a remake in 2012. What makes many shonen anime stand out is the fights.
Fights are the core of any good shonen anime, which can either make or break one’s viewing experience if the action is lacking in any way. One of the most devastating yet prominent topics in media, war has been the ruinous reality of humankind throughout history — which explains why art reflects on war so often. While anime might not be the first medium that comes to mind when thinking of profound tales of military conflict, the war anime niche is surprisingly prolific and filled with discerning explorations of the subject.
From unnervingly realistic portrayals of historical conflicts to fictionalized, fantastical warfare that allegorically examines grounded themes, anime series about war stand up to the challenge of covering this challenging topic with all the nuance it requires. Some of the medium's most compelling and thought-provoking works are dedicated to depicting how war and its horrors affect people, resulting in poignant, sincere narratives that use the subject for more than its action appeal.

Plenty of anime titles on the streaming giant Crunchyroll are short and sweet, with anime series like Chainsaw Man, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Spy x Family being notable examples. Meanwhile, other titles on Crunchyroll value quality and quantity, treating devoted fans to endless episodes of high-quality content. Both in the long run and episode by episode, these lengthy series are rewarding to watch and rank among the superstars of the platform.
Notable absences include the legendary and ultra-long Pokémon, which can be found on Netflix instead, along with Bleach, which moved from Crunchyroll to Hulu a few years ago, including its Thousand-Year Blood War installment. That leaves other anime titles that rank among not just the best, but also the biggest on Crunchyroll, all of which have 100 episodes or more, and a few actually have 1,000 or more episodes to their names.

The anime medium is more popular than ever, and a major reason for this is the overwhelming number of genres and subgenres that have garnered dedication over the years. In particular, the success of ninja anime has been especially pronounced over the years, because of the overwhelming popularity of a single series, Naruto.
Naruto and its sequel series, Naruto: Shippuden, played a major role in the proliferation of anime around the world, but while they might be the best-known ninja anime, they're far from the only ones. Both before and after Naruto's debut episode aired, many other enjoyable ninja series have aired, some of which give the beloved shōnen anime a true run for it money.

Like most ninja & samurai anime, Brave 10 is set during one of Japan's historical eras — in this case, the Warring States Period.

The shonen genre of anime is widely known for its dominant characters. Surprisingly, a good number of these skilled combatants are severely advanced in age and wouldn't be doing any fighting in the real world. Popular characters like Whitebeard prove it's possible to age gracefully and powerfully. Despite being one of the oldest characters in One Piece, even the World Government thinks twice before taking on the old Sea Dog.
Other influential individuals like Isaac Netero prove that skill does not diminish with age in anime. The older Netero often explains without words why he was once considered the most powerful Hunter. Older shōnen anime characters only seem to grow stronger with age. These generational leaders keep up with the youth of their respective series and then some.

Getting new fans into anime as a whole calls for some intro-level anime that don't feel too excessive in their style and presentation. There are plenty of introductory anime to choose from, including shonen and seinen, and there are plenty of shonen anime that should not be used to welcome new fans to the anime community. If someone is on the fence about anime as a whole or is skeptical of the whole thing, there are some shonen anime that will just make the situation worse.
A non-fan might be convinced to check out something like Violet Evergarden or Vinland Saga, while certain shonen anime would just push non-fans away. While these shonen anime titles have plenty to offer for mainstream anime lovers, those shonen anime titles would just reinforce a non-fan's perception of why anime isn't suitable entertainment for them. Many of the most popular anime villains of all time are sympathetic, or at least nuanced. On the flip side, there are figures like Frieza, who are loved for how unabashedly wicked they are. Frieza is an anime icon, but he's also sadistic, manipulative, responsible for the deaths and oppression of billions, and lacking in any redeemable traits.
Dragon Ball Z's Frieza is one of the most evil characters in any anime, but there are far more cruel villains in other series. Cruel as Frieza may be, he can be reasoned with. He treats those who are loyal and useful to him well, and Dragon Ball Z, being a shōnen anime meant to be appropriate for kids, keeps the forms of crimes he commits restrained. Few antagonists can match the number of people killed by the Emperor of the Universe, but that doesn't mean they can't be worse in their own ways.

Anyone who's exploring anime for the first time is likely to assume that it's filled with nothing more than constant battles. So much of the lore surrounding anime is related to the action-shōnen genre that it is understandable for newcomers to believe that. However, there are many more thought-provoking anime with some of the most intelligent characters in the genre.
Many anime delve into the psychology of the human mind, as well as some deep scientific themes that challenge viewers. The smartest characters often provide much-needed logic to both their peers and audiences alike. While there are many intelligent characters, these are some of the smartest.

Dandadan mesmerized an evergrowing fan base with its singular, irreverent charm. For many fans, the series' balance of horror, comedy, and fantasy was a refreshing update to more traditional shōnen tropes and introduced an eclectic ensemble cast many fans found enrapturing. In a crew where everyone is endowed with strange abilities, each character plays an equally important role in keeping the world from falling to supernatural threats. While it's debatable who is most integral for the overall safety of the universe, fans would agree that few characters have been more integral than Ken Takakura or, as series protagonist Momo Ayame demands he is called, “Okarun."

Most abilities in Bleach are straightforward and rely on brute force, but there are exceptions that would make them perfect stands in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. In Bleach, a character’s powers often reflect their personality, much like how stands in JoJo are tied to their user’s traits. For example, Echoes’ evolution mirrors Koichi Hirose’s personal growth, creatively tying the ability to its user's character development.
In JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, stands have grown more complex and less focused on direct combat. This shift makes the fights more creative and strategic, with each stand offering unique abilities that require clever thinking to use effectively. While many powers in Bleach fit this mold, not all do—and comparing how these two anime handle similar concepts highlights their different approaches to storytelling and battle strategy.

Plenty of shonen anime series go to great lengths to keep their main characters alive, since those characters drive the plot in essential ways. Besides, fans would be outraged if the best, most popular characters got killed off, so these anime series will do anything to shield them from harm, or at least, keep death itself at bay. To ensure protagonists aren't just dropping like flys, shonen anime characters are clad in plot armor, and a little goes a long way.
Plot armor is inevitable in fiction, so the key is to make it subtle and let the main characters survive and succeed with their own smart actions. However, a select handful of shonen characters (like Luffy from One Piece and Bakugo from Mha) rely too much on plot armor, and they're sometimes rather obvious about it. Fortunately, the conspicuous plot armor didn't totally ruin these popular characters, but fans...

While most Soul Reapers in the Bleach anime rely on zanpakuto and kido spells to fight, the rogue Yoruichi Shihoin is a dedicated martial artist and assassin. Yoruichi has a zanpakuto, but never once in Bleach's story did she use it, instead making good use of her refined martial arts and the power of Shunko to vanquish her foes. That made her a match for foes like Sui-Feng, Yammy Llargo, and more.
Yoruichi is easily a match for any bare-handed combatant in the Bleach anime universe, so fans want to see what would happen if Yoruichi took on martial artists and other bare-handed fighters from other anime universes as well. Some martial artists are beyond even Yoruichi's power, but plenty of others would prove easy for Yoruichi to vanquish, either with or without the benefit of Shunko.

If anyone is on the topic of overpowered anime protagonists, Saitama is bound to take first place. The One Punch Man hero is the very definition of an Op character and has never been defeated by anyone except a mosquito (iykyk). But what happens when he is pitted against someone who has an equally broken ability?
The character in question is Giorno Giovanna, the protagonist of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure part 5 and the 5th Jojo of the overall series. He is the illegitimate son of Dio and flexes one of the most powerful abilities in the entire series.
