Stephen King’s The Monkey Scares Its Way to #1 on Hulu After Box Office Success( Photo Credit – Prime Video)

Stephen King’s short story The Monkey has taken a fresh and twisted turn under Oz Perkins’s direction. After the success of his 2024 indie hit Longlegs, Perkins returned with this darkly funny and brutal adaptation, putting Theo James in a challenging double role as twin brothers Hal and Bill Shelburg.

The film struck gold for distributor Neon, earning $68.9 million worldwide and a 78% Certified Fresh score from critics.

The Monkey Tops Streaming Charts

Now streaming on Hulu, The Monkey is topping the platform’s charts, surpassing titles like The Other Woman and The Amateur, per Flixpatrol.

The story begins in the brothers’ childhood, when they find an old wind-up, cymbal-banging monkey toy in their father’s attic. Its appearance marks the start of a grim pattern, where every time it claps its cymbals,...

‘Weapons’ Rises To $43M+ Opening, Still Freaking Out ‘Freakier Friday’: How New Line & Warner Bros Pulled It Off – Box Office Update
Image
Updated Monday Am: New Line’s Weapons is higher with a $43.5 million domestic and $71.8 million global opening over the weekend. Meanwhile, stateside, Disney’s Freakier Friday has eased to $28.6M. Again, per the female under-25 stats we provided Sunday, it appears Weapons impacted Freakier Friday.

For Weapons, Sunday came in at $11.3M instead of $10.3M, off 19% from Saturday’s $14M. While legging out to a crazy 5x multiple is foreseeable, in regards to whether the Zach Cregger-directed movie registers a 15% second-weekend dip like Get Out or even -5% like Sinners, we won’t know until we’re in the thick of next weekend. Sinners posted a first Monday of $7.8M, while Get Out‘s was $4.1M, so that gives you an idea of benchmarks.

Universal’s Nobody 2 is the wide entry next weekend with an outlook of $10M+. Summer is still happening per the ComScore school calendar, with...

‘Weapons’ Review: An Unmissable Horror Hit
Image
Julia Garner in ‘Weapons’ (Photo © 2025 Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.)

There’s an odd correlation between comedy and horror. The timing, build-up, and payoff to both laughs and scares are very similar. This is why comedians can be such great horror filmmakers, as evidenced by the likes of Jordan Peele and John Krasinski. A few years back, writer/director Zach Cregger from the sketch comedy troop The Whitest Kids U’Know splashed into horror with the incredible Barbarian. And now, he’s back to show that his first horror movie was no fluke with Weapons.

Weapons is about a town in which, one night at 2:17am, an entire class of third graders got up out of their beds and ran from their houses into the night. Well, almost an entire class. One kid was left. And no other children from the school disappeared, just the one class.

That’s the setup.

The Monkey Review: Gonzo, Nihilistic Horror Comedy, With a Mind Of Its Own
Image
After shocking the horror world last year with box office juggernaut Longlegs, director Osgood Perkins returns with a gonzo adaptation of one of Stephen King’s most nihilistic short stories in The Monkey. Revamping the story from a morose, chaotic, paranoid chiller to a balls-out gory black comedy, Perkins continues his movement from slow-horror icon to alt-populist crowd-pleaser with this darkly hilarious tale of a wind-up monkey with a mind of its own. Hal seems like kind of a loser. Having survived a chaotic youth with shitheel twin brother, Bill, Hal has cut himself off from anyone who might care about him, including his estranged son Petey (Colin O’Brien). It’s hard to blame him, though. Hal lived through the deaths of both parents and a number...

A Star Trek Film Inspired The Dave Franco & Alison Brie Body Horror Movie Together [Exclusive]
Image
Neon has been making big waves in recent years. Not only is the company home to several recent Oscar Best Picture winners, including "Parasite" and "Anora," but the indie studio has also become quite the haven for original horror, such as last year's breakout hit "Longlegs." The company's latest foray into the genre is "Together," a twisted bit of body/horror from director Michael Shanks. It turns out, he took some inspiration from an unexpected place: "Star Trek."

"Together" stars Dave Franco and Alison Brie as Tim and Millie, respectively. Years into their relationship, the couple is at a crossroads, having moved to the country with them being the only familiar thing in one another's lives. As tensions rise, an encounter with a mysterious force forces them to bond, so to speak.

/Film's Bj Colangelo spoke with Shanks in honor of the film's release in theaters. In discussing his inspirations for his latest feature,...

Mike Flanagan Stephen King Film 'The Life of Chuck' Sets Physical Media Release Date
Image
It may not have been a big success at the box office, but Mike Flanagan's adaptation of Stephen King's The Life of Chuck has found a new lease on life thanks to its digital release on July 29. Now, the beloved fantasy drama is finally getting the physical media editions it deserves, and fans don't have to wait too much longer to add it to their collection.

Starring Tom Hiddleston, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Karen Gillan, Jacob Tremblay, and Mark Hamill, to name a few, The Life of Chuck explores the formative moments in the life of Charles "Chuck" Krantz in reverse chronological order, from his death coinciding with the end of a universe to his childhood. Called a "life-affirming masterpiece" by critics, the film hit theaters on June 6, but only managed to take in $11.5 million at the box office despite all its rave reviews. Granted, it was a limited release...

'Weapons' Set to Knock 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' Off Box Office #1 on Opening Weekend
Image
Zach Cregger has waited a long time to bring Weapons to cinemas, but this weekend the Barbarian director’s new horror movie could be about to take down the Fantastic Four in a serendipitous win over Pedro Pascal. While Marvel’s highest-grossing movie of the year has managed to hold the top spot at the box office for two weeks, projections for this weekend suggest Cregger will take down Marvel’s First Family to claim the number one spot.

Why does this give Cregger a strangely fitting victory over Pedro Pascal? Because when Cregger first completed casting for Weapons, Pascal was meant to be playing one of the lead roles. As the director explained to Entertainment Weekly, before the Hollywood strikes, the film was going to be very different.

“I had a whole different cast for this movie. And then we had the strike, and then Pedro Pascal’s schedule threw us into turmoil.

Together Box Office: Alison Brie & Dave Franco’s Body Horror Debut Earns $10M Amid Tough Competition

Together Box Office: Alison Brie & Dave Franco’s Body Horror Earns $10M Despite Facing Big Studio Heavyweights (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Together arrived in theaters last week after building steady attention since its Sundance premiere. Directed by Michael Shanks, the film stars Alison Brie and Dave Franco, a real-life couple who have been working on a string of genre-bending projects lately.

This marks their third film together, and probably their most ambitious. It is being released in the US by Neon, a distributor known for pushing indie horror into the spotlight with a run of major successes, including several Palme d’Or winners and recent breakout hits.

Neon Distributes Together After Recent Indie Horror Successes

Earlier this year, Neon launched The Monkey ($68.8m) by Osgood Perkins, which turned a tidy profit at the global box office. Before that came Longlegs ($127.9m), another Perkins film that doubled those numbers. With another release from him coming up soon,...

‘Weapons’ Review: The Kids Are Far From All Right in a Hypnotic Horror Mystery That Pits Parents Against Teachers
Image
Spoiler Alert: The following review contains mild spoilers.

At 2:17 a.m. on a school night, 17 children go missing all at once. They get up out of bed, open their front doors and run out into the night, arms outstretched, like stealthy little airplanes flying low across the lawns of their sleepy suburban community. The kids have one thing in common: They are all students in Justine Gandy’s third-grade class, which now sits empty, save for a shy boy named Alex, who’s as bewildered as the town’s angry parents that he was spared such a peculiar fate.

It’s an intriguing place to start a horror movie, made all the more unconventional by “Weapons” writer-director Zach Cregger’s choice to let a local girl describe the movie’s ostensibly supernatural premise. Just how much of the shocking and surprisingly gory events that follow could she have been privy to?...

Alison Brie and Dave Franco’s 91% Rt Horror Movie Devours First Domestic Box Office Milestone
Image
After weeks of pre-release buzz following its debut at the Sundance Film Festival, the body horror film Together debuted alongside two new releases at the domestic box office last week. The movie, directed by Michael Shanks, features real-life couple Alison Brie and Dave Franco in the lead roles, marking their third professional collaboration on a series of increasingly odd genre films. Together is being distributed domestically by Neon, best-known for having picked up six Palme d'Or winners in a row, and for having released two of the biggest indie horrors of recent times.

Earlier this year, Neon released Osgood Perkins' The Monkey, which grossed over $60 million worldwide against a reported budget of $10 million. Last year, they debuted Perkins' Longlegs, which made twice as much globally. Perkins has another film with Neon lined up for release later this year. The distributor seems to have cracked the marketing for these films, and...

Neon’s ‘Together’ Scores For Indies, Original Horror In Studio Dominated Top Ten – Specialty Box Office
Image
Theater owners waited a long while for a robust and reliable release schedule, for a variety of films at the box office to attract more moviegoers and hopefully keep them coming back. Mission accomplished again this weekend where there’s something for everyone from kids fare to comedy to superheroes to Neon’s Together, an original horror, the first feature by Michael Shanks, and the sole independent film in an otherwise big studio-dominated top ten.

Together premiered at Sundance and Neon has been riding a wave of strong reviews ever since with a first teaser in February and stream of well received early access screenings. The distributor orchestrated a rare non-holiday Wednesday opening in the hope of generating buzz heading into the weekend, and it worked. The film opened to about $10.9 million and a no. 6 spot at the domestic box office on 2,302 screens.

“It’s very exciting that the studios...

Weekend Box Office: Fantastic Four has a huge fall in week 2; does the Marvel Slump continue?
Image
While last week’s box office numbers suggested Marvel’s slump might finally be over, Fantastic Four: First Steps has collapsed in its second weekend. According to Comscore, the film brought in $40 million—a steep 66% drop. We had predicted a decline in the 55% range, but it looks like while Marvel diehards are still showing up, the general public just isn’t as engaged anymore.

The silver lining for Marvel? Fantastic Four is still their biggest movie of the year. It’s already outgrossed Thunderboltsand is just a million or so shy of passing Captain America: Brave New World. But it’s unlikely to crack $500 million worldwide, meaning it’ll probably be yet another Marvel release that loses money. And that’s a problem, because Avengers: Doomsday is built around the casts of Brave New World, Thunderbolts, and Fantastic Four—and audiences seem to have rejected all of them. Will Doomsday...

New Horror Movie With 91% Rt Score Hits First Major Box Office Milestone
Image
Together has hit a major box office milestone. The new body horror movie, which was written and directed by Michael Shanks, has a Certified Fresh 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes. It stars real-life married couple Alison Brie and Dave Franco as a couple who find their relationship challenged when their bodies begin to meld together in a variety of disgusting ways.

Unusually, the Together release date came midweek, which is a release strategy that happens more often when a holiday weekend is impending. Because it debuted on Wednesday, July 30, the horror movie had already been in theaters for several days by the time its official opening weekend began.

Per Deadline, as of Saturday morning, Together is projected to earn a 3-day total between $6 and $7 million by the end of Sunday. Regardless of where it lands within that range, Together is set to pass the $10 million domestic milestone by the end of...

Alison Brie and Dave Franco's 'Together' Divides Critics and Audiences on CinemaScore
Image
Real-life couple Alison Brie and Dave Franco often work together on odd genre projects, but their latest collaboration, Together, might be the strangest one yet. The body horror movie opened to excellent reviews from critics this week, but it appears to have divided audiences. Together is aiming for a sturdy opening weekend haul at the domestic box office, although it will probably not find a spot in the top five. The movie was given a major marketing push by Neon, the indie distributor behind five Palme d'Or winners in a row, and the recent horror breakouts Longlegs and The Monkey.

Together is sitting at a "certified fresh" 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes, where the critics' consensus reads, "Given an extra sinew of authenticity by the metatextual casting of Alison Brie and Dave Franco at the top of their game, Together is a body horror that's as emotionally sticky as it is memorably gnarly.

How Will ‘Bad Guys 2’ and ‘Naked Gun’ Fare Against ‘Fantastic Four’ at the Box Office?
Image
As the final month of the summer box office season begins, theaters will have a trio of demo-targeting films — adult comedy, family animation and body horror — to offer moviegoers alongside returning “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” and the other four-quadrant tentpoles from July’s slate.

On tap for the big screen: Universal/DreamWorks Animation’s “The Bad Guys 2,” Paramount’s revival of the George Bush-era comedy “The Naked Gun,” and Neon’s critically lauded date night film from hell “Together.”

None of these films are projected to take No. 1 from “Fantastic Four,” but “Bad Guys 2” is projected to take the No. 2 spot with an opening weekend in the $20 million range against an $80 million budget. The first “Bad Guys” earned a $23.9 million opening in April 2022 and went on to earn $97 million domestic and $250 million worldwide.

“The Naked Gun” is projected to take third with an opening in the mid-to-high teens.

Zach Cregger's 'Weapons' Flies Away With Perfect Rotten Tomatoes Score
Image
The last few years have been an incredible ride for horror fans. From the bloodlust gore of the Terrifier franchise, to Robert Eggers’ chillingly atmospheric Nosferatu, and Oz Perkins’ double-feature of Longlegs and The Monkey, those seeking something to make the nights a little darker have been on the ultimate winning streak. Now, Zach Cregger is following up his rug-pull turn with Barbarian with another movie that is about to change the face of horror again – Weapons. First reactions to the movie were good, and now the movie’s Rotten Tomatoes score has landed with a perfect 100% result, setting up what could be the best horror movie of the year.

Cregger took a little time after the release of his 2022 movie to work on the animated comedy, Mars, and produced the sci-fi smash, Companion, but with Weapons he has come back to an arena that he clearly excels in. One...

Osgood Perkins gives a ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ update at Comic-Con: Why a neurodivergent actor is a ‘beautiful idea’ for Leatherface, and why he’ll never find romance

Leatherface fans received an unexpected update at San Diego Comic-Con.

On Friday, Neon hosted a panel that was all about the "Next Wave of Horror," with special guests representing the upcoming scary movies Keeper (director Osgood Perkins and cast member Tatiana Maslany), Together (writer-director Michael Shanks and producers-stars Dave Franco and Alison Brie), and Shelby Oaks (writer-director Chris Stuckmann).

In addition to their current films, the artisans mused about the horror genre in the modern-day era and their future projects, with Perkins addressing rumors that he's attached to the next installment in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise. "My producing partners and I went down a path with Texas Chainsaw and, to be honest with you, I don't even know what's happening with it," he informed the crowd. "But we were certainly in the conversation for it."

A fan in the audience asked Perkins whether he'd ever consider hiring a neurodivergent...

Keeper: Osgood Perkins Is Back (Again) With Eerie New Horror – Watch The Cryptic Teaser
Image
Osgood Perkins has been hard at work. Last year he brought us what could arguably be Nicolas Cage’s freakiest performance yet in Longlegs, and earlier this year he delivered the harpoon-shooting, side-splitting (literally) horror-comedy The Monkey. Now, the director looks to be pivoting back to darker horror territory, as the trailer for his latest flick, Keeper, has just hit the web — and you can watch it below:

That’s one cryptic teaser, seemingly more in line with the weird and flat-out incredible marketing campaign for Perkins' first Neon horror joint, Longlegs. The teaser gives us a mix of ominous figures reacting directly to the camera — one of the more prominent being Christin Park, who appears in multiple shots, reacting to the camera as if it’s a person. Anyone else getting flashbacks to Elijah Wood’s Pov horror Maniac?

Plot details for this one are sparse. So far, all...

‘Sinners’ and ‘Superman’ Are Hits, but Superheroes and Horror Movies Are No Longer Box Office Guarantees
Image
It wasn’t so long ago that audiences would show up to seemingly any movie featuring a costumed hero or a masked killer. But times and standards have changed, and lately, Hollywood’s two most reliable genres — superheroes and horror — are showing signs of fatigue.

“People haven’t stopped loving horror or superhero films, but they stopped loving mediocre entries in those worlds,” says exhibitor Mike Barstow, executive VP of Midwest-based Acx Cinemas. “There’s a demand for higher quality.”

Analysts believe there are different reasons behind the wear and tear of each. Yet both types of fare appear to have reached the oversaturation point. That’s not to say that movies in either genre can’t or won’t break through — “Sinners” ($365 million), “Superman” ($426 million to date) and “Final Destination: Bloodlines” ($285 million) are recent triumphs — but they are no longer box office guarantees.

“Hollywood takes the less risk-adverse approach...

Keeper: Check Out The Disturbing First Trailer For Longlegs Director Osgood Perkins' Latest Horror Movie
Image
"I don't want to play in your yard, I don't like you anymore. You'll be sorry when you see me, sliding down our cellar door..."

Neon has released the first teaser trailer for Keeper, the latest horror movie from Osgood Perkins, who has been carving out a name as a modern-day master of scares following the likes of The Blackcoat's Daughter, I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House, Longlegs, and The Monkey.

Keeper stars Tatiana Maslany and Rossif Sutherland (Possessor), and follows a couple as they "escape for a romantic anniversary weekend at a secluded cabin. When Malcolm (Sutherland) suddenly returns to the city, Liz (Maslany) finds herself isolated and in the presence of an unspeakable evil that unveils the cabin’s horrifying secrets."

The unsettling teaser doesn't reveal much, simply showing various women in different locations (and possibly timelines) looking towards the camera, before things take a very dark turn.

The Monkey and Longlegs Director's Next Horror Movie Gets an Eerie Sneak Peek
Image
FIlmmaker Osgood Perkins is delivering his next horror movie later this year. To tease its arrival, an eerie teaser trailer has just been released.

From Neon, Keeper is slated for a release on Nov. 14, 2025. For Perkins, it's a follow-up to The Monkey, the Stephen King adaptation the filmmaker released earlier this year. Perkins is also known for helming Longlegs, last year's horror thriller starring Nicolas Cage as a serial killer. Now, fans can see what he's got up his sleeve next by checking out the new trailer for Keeper below.

There's still a lot that's not known about Keeper, which is being touted as a "dark trip from Osgood Perkins," and the teaser doesn't exactly share a lot of info about the plot. It does feature some shots of the movie's various characters, and the imagery seems to get increasingly more disturbing. A woman can be heard saying close to the end of the video,...

With The Monkey making its way onto Hulu next month, all eyes are on filmmaker Osgood Perkins for his next feature-length production. This week, the film’s home studio, Neon, has released a brand-new teaser, giving audiences a look into the madness that will unfold when the Tatiana Maslany (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law) and Rossif Sutherland (Orphan: First Kill) led movie arrives in cinemas on November 14.

There’s been a lot of secrecy surrounding the plot of Keeper, and today’s trailer is no different. From what we can gather, the movie will center around women from different decades and backgrounds,...

Keeper | The third in Osgood Perkins’ wave of horror films is out in November
Image
Mere months after Longlegs and The Monkey, writer-director Osgood Perkins is back with the first teaser for his latest horror, Keeper.

Although he found critical success with his earlier films, including The Blackcoat’s Daughter and Gretel & Hansel, it was 2024’s Longlegs that brought writer-director Osgood Perkins to wider attention and box office success. Although no doubt bolstered by its studio’s ingenious marketing campaign, the film itself – a twisted serial killer thriller – was as itself strikingly well made. Starring Maika Monroe on the trail of a murderer with supernatural powers, and Nicolas Cage in an unforgettably spooky supporting part, it was one of last year’s most memorable genre films.

Incredibly, Longlegs was only one of three movies that Perkins got going in the space of just over a year. Just before Longlegs went into production, he’d written The Monkey, based on the short story by Stephen King,...

Osgood Perkins’ Keeper teaser trailer takes audiences on a dark trip as curiosity turns to disdain
Image
Everyone is familiar with the fairytale scenario of falling in love with someone from across a crowded room. It’s in the eyes, they say. You feel that spark. It pulls you into each other’s orbit, with the rest of the story waiting to be written by fate. However, butterflies can only survive inside a stomach for so long; after some time, they’ll die, along with that initial feeling of wonder. In Osgood Perkins‘ Keeper teaser trailer, love blossoms and withers as time tarnishes what began as something beautiful.

Keeper falls under Osgood Perkins and Chris Ferguson’s new production studio, Phobos. Previously, Neon hosted a looping teaser video for Keeper on the studio’s YouTube channel. The video featured a young, unblinking individual repeatedly drawing on a notepad, the sound of their pen against paper playing like Asmr for sickos. Once in a while, the scene changes...

‘Keeper’ Teaser Trailer: Osgood Perkins Horror Film Set in a Haunted Cabin
Image
Osgood Perkins is getting into the relationship-horror film subgenre. The auteur, who recently helmed both “Longlegs” and “The Monkey” for Neon, is set to release his third film with the distributor in less than a 16-month span. Perkins also became the first ever filmmaker to land a first-look deal with the acclaimed studio, as announced in May 2025.

For “Keeper,” though, writer/director Perkins is just helming it: Nick Lepard wrote the script, with the one-location horror film shot during the 2023 strikes between the “Longlegs” and “The Monkey” productions. The logline for “Keeper” reads: “During an anniversary getaway at a remote cabin, a wife (Tatiana Maslany) is left alone after her husband (Rossif Sutherland) departs, only to confront a sinister presence that exposes the cabin’s chilling past.”

Maslany also starred in Perkins’ “The Monkey,” which offered a sneak peek at “Keeper” in a post-credits scene. Perkins told IndieWire that “Keeper” is a “beautiful,...

‘Keeper’ Teaser – Osgood Perkins’ Dark Trip Opens in November

You can’t holler down our rain barrel, you can’t climb our apple tree. I don’t wanna play in your yard if you can’t be good to me.

Directed by modern master of horror Osgood Perkins, the dark trip hits theaters on November 14 via Neon.

It follows a couple as they escape for a romantic anniversary weekend at a secluded cabin. When Malcolm suddenly returns to the city, Liz finds herself isolated and in the presence of an unspeakable evil that unveils the cabin’s horrifying secrets.

Tatiana Maslany (“Orphan Black”) and Rossif Sutherland (Possessor) star. Nick Lepard (Dangerous Animals) wrote the script.

According to Stephen King "You've Never Seen Anything Like" This 2025 Horror Adaptation Coming to Streaming
Image
The world certainly isn’t hurting for more adaptations to come from the pages of Stephen King novels. And yet, we’re happy that filmmakers haven’t slowed down when it comes to bringing the celebrated horror writer’s works to both the big and small screen alike. This year alone, Mike Flanagan’s The Life of Chuck captivated audiences with its pure heart and zest for life, while Francis Lawrence’s take on The Long Walk looks to be a promising take on an incredibly dystopian plot. But, earlier this year, Longlegs director, Osgood Perkins, returned to cinemas with his wacky, bloodfilled, and entertaining adaptation of King’s The Monkey, and soon, the movie will drum its way onto Hulu, with a date set for August 7.

An absolutely bloody and bonkers ride through King’s 1980 short story, The Monkey follows one family as they struggle with the ups and downs of life.

Disney Is Finally Making the Nicolas Cage Sequel We've Been Waiting 18 Years For
Image
Disney reportedly has plans to continue Nicolas Cage's most memorable action franchise with the first new sequel in almost 20 years. Cage has been a mainstay in the movie scene for decades, known for hits like Face/Off, Con Air, and most recently, the hit 2024 horror movie Longlegs. If a new rumor is to be believed, his most famous set of films to date is getting a new addition.

A new rumor teased that Disney officially started development on National Treasure 3. Known for kicking off with Cage's Benjamin Franklin Gates stealing the Declaration of Independence, National Treasure became a fan-favorite in 2004 before its sequel, National Treasure: Book of Secrets, continued the story in 2007. After fans clamored for the two films to become a trilogy for years, it seems that Disney is finally answering the call.

According to scooper Daniel Richtman, the National Treasure threequel is on the drawing board,...

'I Know What You Did Last Summer's Rotten Tomatoes and CinemaScore Ratings Prove This Reboot Wasn't Worth Waiting For
Image
Although three new movies opened in wide release this weekend, none of them caught the audience’s fancy. They’re all expected to deliver modest numbers at the box office, on the back of audience reviews that can only be described as unimpressive. Director Ari Aster’s latest, the Western black comedy Eddington, earned a C+ grade on the polling platform CinemaScore, as did Sony’s I Know What You Did Last Summer. The horror reboot is eyeing a $15 million haul in its domestic debut, which is hardly the sort of situation that a franchise film of its size should find itself in.

Although a C+ is standard for a horror picture, it’s much lower than the A grade that Ryan Coogler’s Sinnersdebuted with some weeks ago, before grossing over $360 million worldwide. I Know What You Did Last Summer finds itself in the company of recent horror films such as Barbarian,...

‘Lone Wolf’ Executive Producer “No Longer Associated” With Financier Rabbits Black Amid Funding Issues For Bryan Cranston Movie
Image
Exclusive: Rabbits Black, one of the key financiers of troubled indie movie Lone Wolf, has gone separate ways from company partner Sean Krajewski.

The company confirmed to Deadline that Krajewski is “no longer associated with Rabbits Black,” but declined to comment on the reason for the exec’s recent departure, which comes at a time when project Lone Wolf, which Krajewski was closely involved in putting together, is under the microscope due to its financing falling apart. As we have reported, the project has been in limbo for months due to funding issues. Star Bryan Cranston told us last week that he won’t return to filming until all cast and crew are paid outstanding wages.

Rabbits Black has told us multiple times that it met all of its contractual financial obligations related to Lone Wolf, and the company is understood to be part of the ongoing effort to get the project finished.

This 100% Rotten Tomatoes Dave Franco Horror Could Be This Summer’s Breakout Sleeper Hit
Image
It’s shaping up to be a big year for Dave Franco, who recently earned an Emmy nomination for his work as a guest performer in The Studio, the hit Apple TV+ series starring Seth Rogen. Franco is also set to star opposite Alison Brie in an upcoming horror film that’s earning rave reviews, and it just might be your new favorite sleeper hit of the year. Franco and Brie star alongside Damon Herriman and Mia Morrissey in Together, the only horror film of 2025 that’s earned a perfect 100% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. The film has been set for release on July 30, 2025, which also leaves it with a path towards tremendous box office success. Michael Shanks wrote and directed Together.

Together premiered earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival, and Collider’s Ross Bonaime gave the film a strong 8/10 in his review, calling it “gleefully strange” and “bonkers.

The Odyssey Ticket Stunt Cements Christopher Nolan As A Cinematic Event Unto Himself
Image
Universal Pictures is clearly very high on director Christopher Nolan's upcoming adaptation of "The Odyssey." The star-studded blockbuster is set to hit theaters next summer -- exactly one year from the date of this article's publication -- and the hype is already evident ... so much so that Universal did something totally unprecedented, selling tickets for 70mm IMAX showings of Nolan's latest a full year before the movie arrives. Even more wild? The demand was overwhelming.

Only 30 screens throughout the world are capable of showing the movie on true 70mm IMAX and when those locations listed tickets for sale this morning, rabid cinephiles logged on in droves to scoop up tickets for summer 2026, almost as though this were a big concert like Taylor Swift or Metallica. The vast majority of these showings are already sold out. It seems difficult to fathom that it wasn't all that long ago many of...

Studio Behind ‘Parasite’ Has 100% Rated Horror Movie Releasing in 2 Weeks Featuring Real-Life Couple
Image
It’s not every day a horror movie pulls off a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score before its release. But Together—the upcoming fright-fest from Neon—has done just that. The film stars real-life couple Dave Franco and Alison Brie, and let’s just say, critics are already welcoming the movie with approval.

While most horror flicks struggle to impress the crowd and critics, Together is chilling its way into history with a flawless 100%. And mind you, the movie still has two weeks before it hits theaters. Additionally, Dave Franco, best known for comedies and dramas like Now You See Me, seems to be quietly reinventing himself with serious horror chops.

What’s even stunning is that he might be outshining his infamous older brother, James Franco, once Hollywood’s golden boy, turned cautionary tale after multiple assault allegations. While one brother fizzled under controversy, another seems to be rising from the shadows.

The Studio Behind ‘Parasite’ and ‘Anora’ Is About to Drop 2025’s Only 100% Rotten Tomatoes Horror Film
Image
Few movie studios are operating at as high a level as Neon right now. The studio had a tremendous in 2019 with Parasite, the Best Picture-winner from director Bong Joon Ho, and just last year, it also soared with the release of Longlegs and Anora. The former stars Nicolas Cage and the latter won the Oscar for Best Picture. Neon is always securing the rights to distribution for films that could easily go on to become cult classics, and the studio has struck gold once again. Neon has officially announced that Together, the horror film starring Dave Franco and Alison Brie, will be released in theaters on July 30. It’s the only horror movie of 2025 thus far to earn a perfect 100% “certified fresh” score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

What makes Together’s flawless Rotten Tomatoes score even more impressive is that it comes from 53 reviews. Holding a perfect rating from...

Friday One Sheet: Keeper
Image
Director Osgood Perkins has been on a creative and productive streak. It is almost a year to the day that Longlegs was released, and he has two more features under his belt: The Monkey from earlier this year, and the forthcoming "Dark Trip" (in the parlance of the below poster's copy) Keeper. The Longlegs marketing campaign was perhaps the best series of posters for a single film in 2024, and Neon has continued to support Perkins' work with exceptional, and in this case minimalist, key-art going forward. The design below has a figure in a jacket photographed from a slightly low angle, but the black out of the face (minus a visible tangle of hair) is enough to be creepy and engaging at the same time. It is not...

The horror! ‘Sinners’ and ‘The Substance’ lead Fangoria Chainsaw Awards nominations of year’s scariest offerings
Image
The grossest, goriest, and most gratuitous of the year are set to be feted at the 2025 Fangoria Chainsaw Awards.

The horror magazine has unveiled the nominees for its signature awards, which includes the big categories you'd expect — like Best Wide Release and Best Lead Performance — and some you mind not—like Best Video Game and Best Public Domain Resurrection.

The Chainsaw Awards are also among the first opportunities for this year's potential awards frontrunner, Sinners, to flex its muscles. (Metaphorical muscles. Michael B. Jordan's are currently streaming on HBO Max.) Ryan Coogler's period vampire thriller is in contention for Best Wide Release — where it will compete with 28 Years Later — and boasts a total of ten nominations in all.

With an eligibility window that ran from July 2024 to June 2025, the Chainsaw Awards also include some of last year's awards contenders, including The Substance, which tied Sinners for nominations.
