Beggarman

Saw this movie at the Garden State Film Festival 2025 and was very entertained. Great story of redemption, great acting and solid New York story. Cool film with an old school NYC vibe. Lots of action propel the story and each character has an arch. Fun moments and comedy in this film, as well. Peter Greene is fantastic in his role, always with an edge and you can really feel for Lenny. Matt Grossman as the cab driver is fantastic. Super fun watch at GSFF in Cranford, NJ. Will def watch on streaming and recommend highly to film lovers, especially those fans on "Mean Streets" and "French Connection."

Got to see the movie at the 2025 Garden State Film Festival. This movie was far and away the best one there. Truly enjoyed the acting, the writing and the overall feel from the movie. The locations were great, and gave a real New York City feel to the movie, gritty. Sometimes when movies go for a gritty feel, they also come across as amateurish, but this movie felt polished.

Also thought the performance from Lenny Thomas was excellent. He comes across as an actor that you will be seeing more from down the road.

Overall highly recommend checking out Beggarman. Definitely worth a watch and hopefully there will be more places where people can see the film.

This film is an absolute gem. It's original, gripping, and endlessly entertaining from start to finish. The sharp writing and precise direction make it no surprise that it's been a hit at multiple film festivals. The pacing keeps you on the edge of your seat, with no dull moments. The lead performance is outstanding, capturing the vulnerability and determination of a character who's fighting for a second chance, yet constantly surrounded by danger. For anyone who loves intense thrillers with fresh plots and unforgettable characters, this is a must-watch. It's exciting, smart, and has you craving more. I'm definitely hoping for a sequel to see where the story goes next!

This film takes on a lot; it's dramatic, somewhat classic in setting, funny ... every move worked well, making Beggerman and enjoyable watch, and even thought provoking ... money does not always solve problems, it makes more of them, and the plot illustrates that through a dramatic unraveling, that leaves the viewer not only entertained, but moved.

The overall look of the film has an appropriate great, with color breaking through as needed, and some of the sets and props are notable - was that really money from the 1970s? Real rain? I had these thoughts while watching, but it did not distract from getting immersed in the world of Beggarman!

Beggarman had my full attention throughout the entire movie. Great story, great acting and great scenery. Definitely worth watching. Love that it's real and what I mean by that (without giving any spoilers) is that we see the things that go on in the movie in every day real life. It makes you feel all sorts of emotions. I had the opportunity of watching Beggarman at a film festival without really knowing to much about the plot and I so glad I didn't because it had me locked in from beginning to the end. Oh man! Definitely a must watch. I promise you won't be disappointed. Great job on the directing too.
