Revealing French documentary on ancient Egyptians.

An interesting French documentary regarding Jean-Pierre Houdin's theory and discovery of how the ancient Egyptians built the the most fantastic constructs created by man.

A French architect is inspired by his father to pursue an interesting theory of how the pyramids might have been constructed. Houdin tried to present his theory to the then old guard of Egyptologists who mostly, according to the documentary, didn't give Houdin the time of day. All save for one who is a trusted member of Egypt's inner circle, who was willing to listen and entertain Houdin's theory, and, though intrigued, was not entirely convinced, but was willing to listen to Houdin and weigh the evidence against the theory.

The evidence is not compelling in the sense that it suddenly clears up a lot of mysteries with one fantastic explanation, but the theory does fall in place with a lot of unexplained facets of the pyramids; the "main gallery", rooms at the corners of the pyramids, and a few other details regarding stress and what stones went where.

I like this documentary because in the past other documentaries, particularly those produced by American or UK production companies, tend to add a lot of production gloss like music and artistic shots to help make the piece look interesting, and where Florence Tran adds a few clearly staged shots showing Houdin first meeting and talking with various people, the film pretty much stays with the basic idea of how the pyramids were built.

All I can is, well, now we know how, all thanks to Houdin and his father. Have a look and enjoy.

    It's a good watch.
