Höllgrund

This German series, set in a remote village in the Black Forest, opens as the old doctor talks to Tanja, a young policewoman, on the day of his retirement. The next day he is found dead; it looks like suicide but Tanja isn't convinced. Soon afterwards new doctor, Fabien, arrives. More deaths occur and Tanja starts to think Fabien might be involved... the truth is not hidden from the viewer. As the series, and Tanja's investigation, progresses old secrets at the heart of the village emerge.

I thought this was an enjoyable series. Its opening scene made me think is was going to be rather nasty but it turned out to be darkly comic. There may not be a mystery about who is killing people but the reason isn't immediately obvious. As we approach the conclusions there are some nice twists and turns. The cast does a solid job bringing the characters to life and the setting helps create a good atmosphere. Overall I'd recommend this to fans of Euro-drama.
