Hello in Here

Beautiful slow burn trip through an isolation spiral that is very relatable and touching. Themes are weighty but the familiarity of the subject matter gives it a light and sympathetic touch. The film does a graceful job of navigating the channels between mental health issues and comedy that emerges from the frustration of daily life slowly wearing down the protagonist. It's material we can all relate to...is it me or is the world totally INSANE? In the end the movie felt like a therapeutic apology for that question...she's going to be ok, we're all going to be ok. But we'll take some knocks along the way. Dug this one a lot!

The fictional screenwriter in the brilliant film "Adaptation" attempts to make a film where nothing happens. He wants to make a film that feels authentic to his life. That film ends up having an immense amount of conflict and brilliant performances by three Oscar award winning actors. I mention this film because "Hello in Here" feels like a version of that film where not really much of anything happens other than the mundane routines of life. Watching this film makes me re-live what was already a mundane pandemic for most. The film's cinematography has an objective POV and is pretty to look at. I commend the filmmaker for attempting to mix multiple genres.
