It's hard to believe that A24 is over 10 years old, but the company has quickly become one of the best contemporary distributors. Few distribution companies have developed their own recognizable aesthetic or are able to sell pricey hipster-style merchandise. But A24's curation of independent film has stoked the flames of cinephiles' passion for bold visions and imaginative stories. Their commitment to creating a platform for independent filmmaking feels refreshing in the glut of superhero and IP-driven releases. A24 has launched the careers of some of our most innovative filmmakers, including Greta Gerwig, Barry Jenkins, Alex Garland, Ari Aster, and Robert Eggers while bringing directors such as Harmony Korine and Sean Baker to a wider theatrical audience. But for every "Moonlight" or "Hereditary," there are other A24 films that have not been quite as well-received. Even though they have bad Rotten Tomatoes scores, they are still worth watching for all...

Fallout: New Vegas by Obsidian Entertainment stands out for its unique factions and complex storyline in the Fallout series. Players can choose between siding with Ncr, Caesar's Legion, Mr. House, or independence, leading to varying endings with consequences. Taking place in 2281, Fallout: New Vegas occupies a significant place in the franchise timeline, setting the stage for future Fallout events.
With the first season of the Fallout TV show wrapped up, it's a good time to brush up on the story of Fallout: New Vegas. Considered by a sizable contingent of fans to be the best of the modern Fallout games, New Vegas has garnered considerable praise for its approach to the factions, history, and gameplay of the series and for, in some opinions, striking a good balance between the classic, isometric Fallout games and their first-person shooter sequels.

Home to films like “Lady Bird,” “Eighth Grade” and “Mid90s,” A24 is synonymous with a certain brand of indie, auteur-driven coming-of-age story. The company’s latest is “Funny Pages,” the debut feature film from writer-director Owen Kline (who you might recognize as Frank from “The Squid and the Whale”). Set in the suburbs of New Jersey, “Funny Pages” follows Robert (Daniel Zolghadri), a talented high schooler determined to make his way as a cartoonist. When his beloved teacher suddenly passes away, he rebels against his upper-middle class upbringing and abandons future plans to attend art school.
Robert’s decision to drop out of school, rent sketchy (i.e. illegal) lodgings in a boiler room and take a low-paying assistant job bring him into the path of Wallace (Matthew Maher), a former employee at one of the comic magazines Robert idolizes. An impressive slate of A24 films are coming to HBO Max next month, including Oscar-winners like 2015’s “Room” and Alex Garland’s directorial debut “Ex Machina.”
A total of 28 A24 films will arrive on the streamer on Aug. 1, timed to the studio’s tenth anniversary and marking the largest collection of A24 films made available to stream on the platform. Much of the lineup consists of films released prior to 2016, when A24 was still a distribution house and not yet the full-fledged studio it is today.
Some buzzy titles such as “Everything Everywhere All At Once,” “Eighth Grade,” “Mid90s” and dozens more are not on this list because of prior deals the studio set up with other streamers. Most A24 films can be found on Apple TV+ and Showtime, who set up deals to serve as the home for a number of their digital releases in 2018 and 2019, respectively. But as those deals near a close,...

Exclusive: Katrina Law (NCIS) has signed on to star opposite Frank Grillo in the horror-thriller Year 2, from director Steven C. Miller (Line of Duty), which is heading into production this month.
One year ago, in the film written by Matthew Kennedy (Inheritance), a supermoon event caused a latent gene to turn everyone exposed to the moonlight into a werewolf for one night. Millions died—and now, the supermoon is back. Law is playing the brilliant geneticist, Dr. Amy Chen, who goes on a dangerous journey with Grillo’s character to saved loved ones, against a ticking clock. Myles Nestel (Blacklight) and Craig Chapman (Honest Thief) will serve as Year 2‘s producers.
Law recently joined CBS’ NCIS as new female lead Jessica Knight, and has also been seen on such series as NCIS: Hawai’i, Hawaii Five-0, Arrow, Magnum P.I., The Oath, Sacred Lies, Training Day, Spartacus and The Resistance, among others.

The purpose of this piece is to draw your attention to some significant experimental film works that emerged in 2021. These are films that mostly played small festivals, such as Prismatic Ground, the new Light Matter festival in Alfred, New York, or Mark McElhatten’s “Carte Blanche” program at MoMA. Others, to my knowledge, have not yet debuted in North America. This piece intends to draw your attention to these films (although you may have already seen some of them), and to make a case on their behalf.I have started writing this piece several times, and each time I have scrapped my introductory remarks. In one draft, I talked about those festivals in some depth. In another, I briefly analyzed the 2021 selections for the New York Film Festival’s Projections program, conjecturing about the prevalence of essay films as part of a backlash against formalism. In another, I talked about Gramsci and hegemony,...

The following contains spoilers from the season 10 finale of American Horror Story: Double Feature aka American Horror Story: Death Valley, ep. “The Future Perfect”
Never accuse Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk of jumping the shark.
American Horror Story wrapped up ten seasons running tonight with Sarah Paulson’s Mamie Eisenhower getting her head blown up. Like, a full on bloody splat. I can’t remember an AHS where I laughed so hard.
In a unique season that began with a family’s transformation into vampires in Provincetown, Massachusetts (Red Tide) which then handed off to a completely different second story, Death Valley, which was a celebration of 1950s B sci-fi films, as well as Alien, They Live, V and I swear, a wink at Denis Sanders’ Invasion of the Bee Girls, AHS Season 10 continued to reinvent itself, showing no signs of grey, rather knee-slapping hysteria laced with groovy retro style.

The evolution of the human race concluded on Wednesday with the mind-blowing finale of American Horror Story: Double Feature, an hour as rich in gore and twists as it was in stunning, timeless kaftans. And if that isn’t this entire franchise in a nutshell, what is?
The fourth and final “Death Valley” installment began in 1972, with Nixon’s presidency in shambles as the American people demanded an end to the Vietnam War. The president’s trusty advisor Valiant Thor reminded him that the war was merely a temporary distraction to keep the public from noticing how many Americans were being abducted.

Wednesday’s episode of American Horror Story: Double Feature was every mother’s worst nightmare, no matter what planet she’s from.
The penultimate hour of “Death Valley” welcomed Cody Fern as Valiant Thor, a handsome (and apparently robotic) liaison between the humans and aliens. His primary job, besides giving Mamie the mind-blowing sex that queen deserved, was overseeing what he called “the business at hand.” More specifically, he was there to process the harvesting of a new race, one that was “neither human nor us but able to survive on this earth.”

FX's American Horror Story: Death Valley, part two of season 10, has begun airing and is finally returning to the theme of aliens which was first introduced back in season 2. Not since the days of Bugs Bunny have we witnessed such a sudden turn in Albuquerque.
Wednesday’s episode of American Horror Story: Double Feature, which serves as the premiere of Part 2 (aka “Death Valley”), takes us back to the black-and-white days of 1954, where a New Mexico housewife named Maria is cheerfully planning dinner for her hard-working husband and precocious young son. Are we getting a surprise episode of "Red Tide" as part of American Horror Stories Season 2?
After five of the strongest episodes in years, American Horror Story Season 10 Episode 6 supposedly concluded the story, but it has got to be the least satisfying conclusion in the history of the series.
If you watch American Horror Story online, you know a lot was riding in this story, what with The Chemist, Austin, and Belle preparing to go to war against Harry and Alma.
We got all of that, but just not with a lick of sense. Yes, it took some scheming from Ursula to get the people that mattered to her out of Provincetown and back to Los Angeles with a new concoction of the pill.
Ursula is one of my favorite characters to date because she owned her flaws from the beginning. She was unapologetic in her attempt to turn would-be writers into full-blown,...

TV docudramas always walk a fine line between illumination and exploitation. But American Crime Story‘s first installment, The People v. O.J. Simpson, broke the mold by doing the impossible: It gave us a fresh perspective on a story we thought we already knew so well. It had depth, it had nuance, it made us rethink the legacies of infamous media pariahs… and I say all that to emphasize that Impeachment: American Crime Story does none of this.
Despite its lofty pedigree, Impeachment is a disaster: a schlocky, overheated melodrama that’s only a degree or two removed from a Saturday Night Live parody.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “Cape Fear” and “Pale,” the two episodes that aired as the “American Horror Story: Double Feature” premiere on Aug. 25.
It has been nearly two years since the last season of “American Horror Story,” which took everyone on a journey through 1980s slasher movie tropes with “1984.” The new season is also starting with a film reference in “Double Feature,” but based on what the creators have said about the theme, it simply means there are two stories this season.
The first is subtitled “Red Tide” and it will encompass the first six episodes of the season; the second is “Death Valley” and it will be featured in the last four episodes. Presumably, because this is “AHS,” the two halves will be connected somehow — and they do share some cast members, including Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Angelica Ross and Leslie Grossman.

Inspiration is a wonderful — and deadly — thing in the first trailer for season 10 of Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Stories series, titled Double Feature.
In the clip, a young couple (Finn Wittrock and Lily Rabe) move to Provincetown, Massachusetts, in an effort to crack Wittrock’s character’s writer’s block, a move that many a Stephen King fan knows can only spell trouble in a horror story.

FX has finally released the first teaser for “American Horror Story” Season 10, which is dubbed “Double Feature.” So the video, naturally, features double the terror: first sirens with shark-like teeth, then creepy aliens.
Actually, those could be mermaids. Or ocean zombies. Or water vampires. Honestly, it’s anyone’s guess at this point. But we’re pretty confident about the aliens part.
Seriously, Ryan Murphy, what is going on in your brain at this point? Never mind, we’re here for it and can’t wait till “AHS: Double Feature” premieres on Aug. 25 to find out just how twisted this is going to get.
Watch the teaser above, which also reveals that the first half of the two-part season is called “Ride Tide,” while the second half is titled “Death Valley.”

Updated with trailer There’s clearly something in the water, and on land, in the latest look at American Horror Story 10.
On Tuesday, Murphy teased the upcoming installment of the FX horror franchise, sharing a poster for American Horror Story: Double Feature via Twitter.
American Horror Story: Double Feature will take on “two horrifying stories” – one by the sea and the other by the sand, Murphy previously revealed, and the poster teases exactly that. In the sea, a siren with full set of sharp teeth inhabits the water. However, the first half of the monster’s face is that of an alien, with bulging eyes reflecting the dry environment surrounding it.
FX also unveiled a teaser for the upcoming chapter. The two monsters go face to face, tooth to tooth in the brief snippet, which teases two parts – the first is Red Tide, and the second is titled Death Valley.

MaryAnn’s quick take… Upends expectations, demythologizes the mythos, and takes an iconic series in a bold new direction with a story full of humor, courage, and dazzling imagery. I’m “biast” (pro): I’m a huge Star Wars fan
I’m “biast” (con): nothing

This is not going to go the way you think,” Luke Skywalker says to… well, someone who needs to hear it. Someone whose arrogance is borne of shortsightedness and narrow expectations. And this is also Star Wars: The Last Jedi’s word of warning to the audience. To us. This is the Star Wars movie, after all, from writer-director Rian Johnson, the guy who gave us The Brothers Bloom, a tricksy movie about con artists that knows we go into a movie about con artists with certain assumptions about what we’re about to see.

Annapurna Pictures has released three new character posters for Professor Marston & the Wonder Women, a biopic highlighting the unconventional creation of Wonder Woman by its creator William Marston, and the two women who inspired him. The new posters feature Luke Evans as the Wonder Woman creator, Professor William Marston, Rebecca Hall as his wife Elizabeth Marston and Bella Heathcote as their mutual love, Olivia Byrne. These posters come on the heels of the film's world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 9, with the studio also announcing a new theatrical release date as well.
In a superhero origin tale unlike any other, the film is the incredible true story of what inspired Harvard psychologist Dr. William Moulton Marston to create the iconic Wonder Woman character in the 1940's. While Marston's feminist superhero was criticized by censors for her 'sexual perversity', he was keeping a secret that could have destroyed him.
