During a recent appearance at MegaCon Orlando, Law recalled the first time he saw George Lucas’ 1977 movie Star Wars, revealing it definitely influenced his passion for acting. "My experience was in a decade far, far away. I was about 6. It blew my mind," he said. "I was playing with toys and had the bedsheets. I look back and realize it reinforced my acting. It was a massive influence." Besides being a Force-user, Jod Na Nawood was also introduced as a pirate captain who got ousted by his own crew after...

We expect to see the a lot of announcements, clips, images, and other goodies from the Netflix streaming service today, and the action begins with the unveiling of the streamer’s 2025 TV slate – which is previewed in the fun “You’re Not Ready” trailer embedded above. In this trailer, a Netflix subscriber finds herself taking a journey through some of the many TV shows coming to the streamer this year, including Squid Game season 3, Wednesday season 2, the Cobra Kai finale, The Witcher season 4, and Stranger Things season 5. Don’t expect to see much in the way of show footage in the trailer; this is just about the subscriber’s adventure. Netflix had the actress who stars in the ad do a lot of stuff for this 3 minute promo, but unfortunately they didn’t reveal her name, so I can’t credit her for her work.

On Thursday, Netflix revealed its full 2025 TV slate. The lineup includes the final seasons of two of its biggest shows, Stranger Things and Squid Game, and a second season of its other biggest show, Wednesday. It also includes promising-sounding limited series like Black Rabbit and The Four Seasons, returns of longtime Netflix favorites like Black Mirror and Chef’s Table, an overwhelming number of sports documentaries, and dozens more shows.
The biggest piece of news in the announcement is the startlingly soon release date for Squid Game Season 3. The second and third seasons shot back-to-back, and so the final season is slated for June 27, just six months after the release of Season 2. Netflix also revealed a handful of previously unannounced projects, including a 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina documentary that counts Spike Lee as a director, and a Long Island serial killer docuseries from director Liz Garbus.

Netflix has quite a large slate of new and returning series coming in 2025. The slate was previewed Wednesday at the streamer’s annual Next on Netflix event in Los Angeles, which was also streamed across the globe.
Some of the most anticipated projects include Stranger Things 5 and Wednesday Season 2, neither of which have premiere dates just yet. So far, Netflix has revealed a huge slate for February, as well as a smattering of series that are expected through August, but a large portion of the series the streamer says we’ll see this year haven’t been confirmed for a specific date yet.
Of the dates that were revealed, perhaps the biggest surprise is that the third and final season of Squid Game is coming sooner than audiences might have anticipated, premiering on June 27. June will also bring another season of Ginny & Georgia.

Arlan Ruf, a promising, up-and-coming young actor, will co-star opposite Jason Bateman and David Harbour in the HBO limited series “Dtf St. Louis,” Variety has learned.
The seven-episode show comes from creator and showrunner Steven Conrad. HBO describes “Dtf St. Louis” as a dark comedy about a love triangle between three adults experiencing middle-age malaise — an entanglement that leads to one of them ending up dead.
Bateman has been busy since ending his run on Netflix’s crime series “Ozark.” He co-starred in the streamer’s suspense hit, “Carry On” and is working on its new limited series “Black Rabbit.” Harbour is finishing up “Stranger Things.” He will co-star in Marvel’s “Thunderbolts*,” which opens in May.
Linda Cardellini (“Freaks & Geeks”) and Oscar-nominee Richard Jenkins (“The Shape of Water”) will also star. Ruf will play the role of Richard, the socially maladjusted, delinquent stepson of Harbour’s character.

Deadline’s Read the Screenplay series highlighting the scripts behind the awards season’s buzziest films continues with The Order, Justin Kurzel’s period crime drama based on a chilling and timely true story. The screenplay was written by Oscar-nominated King Richard scribe Zach Baylin.
The film starring Jude Law, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan and Jurnee Smollett has been hitting the fall festival circuit beginning with its world premiere at Venice. It has since opened the Zurich and Marrakesh film festivals and hit theaters in limited release this past weekend via Vertical.
Baylin’s script, adapted from the book The Silent Brotherhood by Kevin Flynn and Gary Gerhardt, centers on a string of violent robberies and other crimes beginning in the early 1980s Pacific Northwest that the FBI, and specifically veteran agent Terry Husk (Law), figured out were being perpetrated by a white supremacist group plotting to overthrow the government.

Jude Law loves being a producer because it gives him a "greater sense of input and control".The 51-year-old actor has produced his new movie 'The Order' through his Riff Raff Entertainment production company and he enjoys the added responsibility that comes with the role of producer. He told The Hollywood Reporter: "This film is a perfect example of how producing can be hugely rewarding. It was born out of a relationship with Zach Baylin, who’s a really talented young writer. We’d been in discussion with him about various projects, and we have actually now just made a limited TV series ['Black Rabbit'] with him. So, I was lucky enough to have a real input into where and how to make the film, and we were also lucky to have Justin Kurzel come on board. When Justin Kurzel set out to direct The Order— he couldn’t have known how its real-life history of white supremacy and anti-government would continue to evolve and become yet more significant.
The film, written by Zach Baylin and based on the book The Silent Brotherhood by Kevin Flynn and Gary Gerhardt, follows the 1980s story of real-life white supremacist group The Order led by Bob Matthews (Nicholas Hoult) and the FBI agent determined to stop him, played by Jude Law, who also served as producer on the project.
In his doctrine, Matthews had heavily referenced William Luther Pierce’s 1978 novel, The Turner Diaries, which depicts a right-wing assault on the Capitol. And Kurzel recalls how as the events of January 6 unfolded, a chilling present-day parallel emerged.
“I just remember watching that event,” Kurzel says, “and then also seeing some of the photographs and imagery that were coming in from the day.

HBO has greenlit the limited series “Dtf St. Louis” with Jason Bateman and David Harbour set for two of the lead roles, Variety has learned.
HBO has given the series a seven-episode order. The show was originally announced as being in development back in 2022 with Harbour and Pedro Pascal attached to star and executive produce. The project was originally inspired by the James Lasdun New Yorker article “My Dentist’s Murder Trial: Adultery, False Identities, and a Lethal Sedation.”
However, according to an individual with knowledge of the project, the creative direction of the series evolved over time and is now based on a wholly original idea with no connection to the original article. In addition, Pascal is no longer attached in any capacity. He remains in business with HBO, though, with the second season of “The Last of Us” set to debut in 2025.

Straight off the plane from New York, where he is mid-production on the Netflix series “Black Rabbit,” director Justin Kurzel debuted his new documentary “Ellis Park” at the Melbourne International Film Festival.
“Ellis Park” follows the eventful life of composer Warren Ellis and the wildlife sanctuary he co-founded on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. Combining Ellis’ irreverent humor and unbounded creativity with the moving story of the sanctuary’s role as a home for animals rescued from the black market, “Ellis Park” is set to be one of the most impactful Australian documentaries of recent years.
Following the film’s premiere at Melbourne’s Astor Theatre, Kurzel said making the documentary has profoundly influenced his forthcoming productions. Alongside “Black Rabbit” these include “The Order” — a wintry thriller starring Jude Law, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Jurnee Smollett, and Marc Maron set to premiere at the Venice Film Festival — and the series...

Unfrosted, the fictionalized retelling of how Kellogg's Pop-Tarts came to be, is now available to stream on Netflix. However, the made-for-streaming movie directed by and starring Jerry Seinfeld is making critics yearn for the days of Seinfeld rather than making them nostalgic over fond memories of breakfast as a child.
Currently, Unfrosted has a 30% rotten score on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 30 professional reviews. "Unfrosted is one big steaming pile...," Barry Hertz of Globe and Mail wrote. "A distressingly laugh-free affair that is, as Larry might say, pretty, pretty, pretttttyyyyyyy bad." "Oh, well. Perhaps the best response to junk food is junk cinema," Donald Clarke wrote for the Irish Times. "If you thought Jerry Seinfelds funniest moments were in his American Express ads, then Unfrosted is the film for you," said TheWrap's William Bibbiani.

Exclusive: Jude Law’s Riff Raff Entertainment has received “significant funding” via a new TV development deal with France’s Newen Connect.
Unveiled at Newen’s London TV Screenings event, the deal sees Riff Raff, which the two-time Oscar nominee co-founded with Ben Jackson, handed a cash injection to develop a slate of TV projects, while giving the company a distribution pipeline.
The development partnership has already spawned three early-stage projects: political thriller Foreign Desk starring Law and written by Marek Horn, a female-led show from Pure writer Kirstie Swain and a “talent-led TV project with acclaimed playwright Chris Urch.”
The investment figure was not disclosed but is referred to as “significant.” It is being underwritten by European studio-financier Anton, which separately invested €50M ($54M) in Newen in early 2022 that allowed the French major to move into features.
