"Innocent Belgium" was meant as a pilot for a bigger film project. Creative differences and the bankruptcy of production company 'Innocent Release' led to the fact that this never came to fruition. Famed Flemish television production company 'Studio A' showed interest to make a television series based on the drama-project and a agreement was made. However with the announcement that "Black" and "Back", from author Dirk Bracke, would be made in a feature, the plug was pulled because of similarities in the subject matter in both projects. An edit of "Innocent Belgium" was only shown at the film market in Cannes, France, and never publicly released.
