Adams request to film me came at a good time. I was nearing retirement from rock climbing, and most of my friends had either quit climbing or quit living entirely. It seems that folks who climb without a rope don't live as long as the average person.

Adam was very skilled with his Nikon d7000, so it was easy to forget about the camera, and to simply be myself. At that time, 'myself' was very dirty and poor and anti social. In fact, seeing oneself in a documentary can have it's effects. I was a bit horrified at how gnarly I had become, and determined to do something about it.

So, after a stint of 4 decades, I quit rock climbing, and picked up a digital camera. I began shooting sweeping panoramic photos of the red desert, and tried my hand at a few short films. More recently, I have moved to rural Washington, to build tiny homes; experiment with electric vehicles; and install solar panels. The views expressed in 'A Desert Life' have not changed much. But I struggle to get along with folks so that i can trick them into accepting a future with less commotion and almost total reliance on clean energy.
