Off the Air

I'm pretty confused by the high rating. It's basically stock footage and low quality animation jumbled together based on a one word theme. It's like a first year film student had to produce a project in one sitting. Very dull, or perhaps too cerebral for me to "get it." There's a reason most of the reviews mention acid or psychedelics - you are unlikely to enjoy this sober.

I'm coming to this show a bit late, but can say knowing Adult Swim's history it's no surprise this fits right in to their roster as they tend to showcase shorts and shows that delve into the psychedelic and surreal side of humour. Point of interest: some of the "dialogue", which sound like crank calls, are actually clips from Longmont Potion Castle albums, who is basically the Dali of crank calling.

This show is very trippy, I don't know if it's because I'm not watching this on acid but I don't really find the random trippy nature of this show entertaining for more than a couple minutes. Defiantly not something I would watch on my own time.

Stock footage in weird mix/edits. And in between some animation sequences that are not very creative, with a rather bland style and low-level technique re the underlying artwork.

Even if I was watching this on acid, I'd be either bored out of my mind (that's really something) or -more likely- this would be so annoying that I'd rather do anything else.

There's nothing edgy about this. You can talk about psychedoodles all you want, -it's hard to see why this show exists. It's plain bad. Not "so bad it's good. Not "you have to be high to get it". Just not well made and -in whichever way you look at it- not very entertaining.

If you're looking for an alternative, I would highly recommend The Midnight Gospel. The first episode is a bit meh compared to the rest. My favourite is the last episode.

It shows exactly what my mind secretly craves. To get our attention, good show usually has to have complicated plot, sophisticated dialogues, well-written characters and such. But those visuals are so surreal and sophisticated you realize your mind is fully occupied! For me it was a beautiful and exciting realization. I want more of it and i want more stuff like that. One of the best shows ever!
