Ryan Reynolds' R.I.P.D. Finds New Life as Streaming Hit Despite 13% Rating
Image
Ryan Reynolds has established himself as a leading figure in modern cinema, acclaimed for his sharp comedic timing and his prominence in superhero films. Though his global box office total exceeds $6.5 billion, his career began with modest television appearances, first rising to attention with starring roles in Hillside (1991-1993) and Two Guys and a Girl (1998-2001).

Transitioning into film, Ryan Reynolds headlined several romantic comedies that cemented his popularity, including National Lampoon's Van Wilder (2002), Waiting... (2005), and The Proposal (2009). Not every venture was met with critical or commercial acclaim; his turns in superhero entries like Blade: Trinity (2004) and Green Lantern (2011) fell short, underscoring the uneven path that often accompanies rising stardom.

Reynolds' defining breakthrough came with the Deadpool franchise, beginning in 2016. Deadpool and Deadpool 2 (2018) became cultural phenomena, while Deadpool & Wolverine (2024) delivered his highest-grossing success to date. Beyond superheroes, he's starred in 6 Underground (2019), Free Guy (2021), and The Adam Project (2022). However,...

This Forgotten DreamWorks Film With 'The Big Bang Theory' and 'Only Murders in the Building' Stars Is a Galactic Streaming Hit
Image
Sandwiched between its big successes of How to Train Your Dragon 2 and Kung Fu Panda 3, DreamWorks released a little sci-fi film in 2015 about an outcast alien and a little girl just trying to get Home. The sweet little film came packed with an otherworldly cast, headlined by the likes of Rihanna, The Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons at the height of his powers, the great Steve Martin, and Jennifer Lopez fresh off of The Boy Next Door with 9-1-1's Ryan Guzman. Despite all the star power and a solid $386 million box office, though, it's mostly forgotten among the studio's larger catalog, especially considering the movies around it. Now, however, it's getting a chance to shine again on streaming, rising to #4 on Netflix's global charts and beating out some big names in Happy Gilmore 2 and Megamind.

Home starts on Earth, where a cowardly alien...

Ben Stiller's $600 Million 'Madagascar' Sequel Is a Streaming Hit in the U.S.
Image
Excitement is high as one of Ben Stiller's comedies gears up for a long-awaited comeback. Stiller and many more of the original cast are set to join Ariana Grande in the upcoming Meet the Parentssequel, set to be written and directed by franchise veteran John Hamburg. But whilst you wait for the film's release on November 25, 2026, perhaps looking at another of Stiller's comedy sequels is the perfect way to fill the time. That's something fans have been doing, with one of the actor's most successful sequels ever officially joining the upper echelons of the streaming ranks.

As of August 8, 2025, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa is one of the ten most-streamed movies on Peacock in the U.S. The sequel came three years following the huge success of the first movie, which, although failing to please most critics, earned over $500 million at the box officefrom a reported $75 million budget. But could the sequel,...

An Established MCU Director's Sleeper Hit Directorial Debut Is a Streaming Success
Image
Sure, Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania is likely the worst MCU movie release of the entire saga. Starring Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, and Michael Douglas, the movie failed to capture much positivity from both the fandom and critics, leaving director Peyton Reed with a disappointing stain on his impressive career. 23 years prior to this release, Reed was making his feature directorial debut with an impressive splash, although his first outing behind the big-screen camera wouldn't find its deserved success straight away.

The movie in question is the cheerleading comedy Bring It On, starring Kirsten Dunst, Eliza Dushku, and Gabrielle Union. A quarter of a century since its debut, this sleeper hit has found streaming success once again, officially topping the Peacock U.S. streaming charts as of August 8, 2025. With a 65% critics' score and a 66% audience rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, Bring It On is a cultural phenomenon that...

Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, and Brittany Murphy in Clueless (1995)
Here Are the Top 10 Most-Watched Movies on Peacock This Week, Including ‘The Phoenician Scheme’
Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, and Brittany Murphy in Clueless (1995)
Peacock’s latest top-ten lineup is a comfort-food buffet: animated showstoppers, razor-sharp teen comedies, and a thriller or two for good measure. It’s a snapshot of what people actually watch when they want pure fun—familiar characters, generous laughs, and stories that go down easy after a long day.

What makes this mix pop is the range. You can jump from high-energy martial arts hijinks to biting satire without losing the feel-good momentum. Below, we count down from #10 to #1, highlighting why each title has viewers hitting play this week.

10. ‘Clueless’ (1995) Paramount Pictures

‘Clueless’ remains a sparkling time capsule of wit, wardrobe, and well-aimed self-awareness. Its heroine may be gloriously oblivious at first, but the movie’s empathy gives every joke a soft landing.

The appeal endures because the satire never curdles; it invites you in rather than talking down. Rewatches deliver the same fizzy charm—zingers, glow-ups, and a...

‘Bring It On’ & 9 Other Movies Top Peacock’s Most-Watched List This Week
Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, and Brittany Murphy in Clueless (1995)
Peacock’s weekly chart is a cozy chaos of comfort rewatches, family-friendly favorites, and a couple of curveballs. From animated animal antics to teen comedies that basically defined an era, the lineup shows how well a good laugh (or a well-timed eye roll) still plays at home. It’s also a reminder that a great stunt sequence or a killer one-liner can be just as bingeable as prestige TV.

What’s fun about this mix is how it hops across tones without losing steam: sharp teen satire sits alongside kung fu slapstick, while a cheerleading classic keeps pace with globe-trotting penguins and power-kicking pandas. Below, we count down the week’s most-watched titles from #10 to #1, spotlighting why each one has people pressing play right now.

10. ‘Clueless’ (1995) Paramount Pictures

Even decades later, ‘Clueless’ keeps its grip on pop culture with razor-witty dialogue, a sun-splashed Beverly Hills vibe, and a lead who...

Beginning Aug. 1, Kung Fu Panda 2 will be available to stream on HBO Max. The animated martial arts comedy sequel follows Jack Black's Po, the titular Kung Fu Panda, as he travels to Gongmen City with the Furious Five — Tigress (Angelina Jolie), Mantis (Seth Rogen), Viper (Lucy Liu), Crane (David Cross), and Monkey (Jackie Chan) — to stop the peacock Lord Shen (Gary Oldman) from conquering China while also learning about his forgotten past. Kung Fu Panda 2 was produced by DreamWorks Animation and distributed by Paramount in 2011, where it received largely positive reviews from critics, with Rotten Tomatoes noting a "certified fresh" approval rating of 82%.

Former X-Men Star’s New British Drama Earns Stunning Rotten Tomatoes Score Ahead of Theatrical Release
Image
With the likes of James Gunn’s Superman, Universal's How to Train Your Dragon remake, the Gareth Edwards-helmed Jurassic World Rebirth, and much more dominating the global box office, it can be difficult for the smaller titles to reach an audience. With that in mind, the queer British drama Unicorns is worth better representation against the big-hitters ahead of its upcoming Friday, July 18, debut in US theaters. The film released in the UK last year, with its official debut at the Toronto International Film Festival coming way back in 2023.

Ahead of its release, Unicorns boasts a near-perfect 93% Rotten Tomatoes score from 28 reviews to date, one of the highest scores of any movie making its US theatrical release this year. The movie, directed by James Krishna Floyd and Sally El Hosaini and featuring newcomer Jason Patel, stars an X-Men: Apocalypse alum, Ben Hardy, as single father Luke Tilson, who...

How To Train Your Dragon's Box Office Flies Past A James Cameron Sci-Fi Classic
Image
How to Train Your Dragon has passed a key James Cameron film at the box office. Cameron has a great commercial track record with his movies, continuing to prove himself a box office king. Three of the top 5 highest-grossing movies of all time were directed by him, which were Titanic, Avatar, and Avatar: The Way of Water.

Cameron has another chance for box office glory this year with the upcoming Avatar: Fire and Ash. Before that point, however, several films had done well at the box office so far this year. This includes the live-action adaptation of How to Train Your Dragon, which has been well-received by critics and audiences alike.

As per Box Office Mojo,How to Train Your Dragon has now passed Terminator 2: Judgment Dayat the all-time worldwide box office. At the time of writing, the live-action adaptation was the no. 245 highest-grossing film of all time,...

Bill Hader, 47, Begins a Whimsical New Adventure in First 'The Cat in the Hat' Trailer
Image
Oh, the places Bill Hader will go in next year's The Cat in the Hat movie. Over seven years ago, Warner Bros. Pictures snagged the rights to make a new feature adaptation of Dr. Seuss's iconic anthropomorphic feline. Now, the first trailer is finally here with the Barry star voicing the titular character in a whimsical new adventure that expands on the world of the storybook original. Filled with colorful and surreal visuals that capture the children's author's style, the footage teases a new challenge that will take him around the planet and threaten his signature striped headgear. The film will bring a little magic to theaters on March 6, 2026.

Everything Coming to Hulu and Disney+ in June
Image
While the Max rebrand back to HBO Max has the streaming world in a tizzy, it’s worth remembering the significance of keeping diverse subscriptions. While “Hacks” and “The Last of Us” wrap up over on that side of your library, the Hulu and Disney bundle is essential for maximizing this summer’s offerings.

Disney+ continues to be the go-to streamer for family friendly viewing options; this month, they’ll add the official “Frozen” Broadway musical to that library, along with Marvel’s “Ironheart,” about Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) who was introduced in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”

Hulu has everything you need for an “Alien” movie marathon, all to gear up for FX’s “Alien: Earth” which premieres in August. You could also do a “Mamma Mia!” marathon or “Bachelor” binge — we’re not here to judge.

Top Pick: “The Bear” Season 4 (Available on Hulu)

‘Kung Fu Panda 4’ Was Worth The Wait As No. 8 Most Valuable Blockbuster Of 2024
Image
Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster tournament has returned, and as you’ll see from the most profitable films of 2024 that we’re about to disclose, a movie’s game doesn’t end at the box office. Rather, its downstream revenues and subsequent home windows must be taken into account. Streaming continues to be a wildcard: While traditional motion picture studios such as Disney, Warner Bros, Sony, Paramount and Universal rely on lucrative pay two and pay three streamer deals to catapult their slates into the black, those streamers who’ve embraced theatrical (specifically Amazon MGM Studios and Apple Original Films) have a clandestine metric as to how they evaluate a movie’s post-cinema success. By traditional studio P&l standards, some of those releases would be considered flops. Given that, Apple and Amazon are excluded from this year’s survey. The Most Valuable Blockbuster series runs later rather than sooner as...

‘A Minecraft Movie’ Slays ‘King Kong’ & Two Kung-Fu Panda Movies To Become Jack Black’s Sixth Biggest Film
Image
After a dubious start to the year, with films such as Mickey 17 and The Alto Knightsunder-performing, Warner Bros. bounced back a couple of weeks ago with A Minecraft Movie. The video game adaptation broke opening weekend records, and recently passed the half-billion mark at the global box office. The big question now is if A Minecraft Movie has enough gas in its tanks to pass the $1 billion mark globally. If it does, it’ll become the second film of stars Jason Momoa and Jack Blackcareers to hit this coveted milestone, after the first Aquamanmovie and The Super Mario Bros. Movie, respectively.

Both actors have experience with franchises; Momoa has appeared in the DC Extended Universe, while Black has headlined four Kung Fu Panda films and been a part of two Jumanji blockbusters. A Minecraft Movie is already among his highest-grossing hits, having passed King Kong's $556 million global haul from two decades ago.

Remind me again why Jack Black went nearly 20 years between hosting appearances on Saturday Night Live?

The guy killed it three times in the early aughts but has been pictured on the side of SNL milk cartons ever since, missing in action so that the likes of Jacob Elordi and Halsey could get their turns. It probably has something to do with Black’s late-career turn into kiddie fare — Lorne Michaels likely didn’t see much wow factor in having Black promote Kung Fu Panda 3 or Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle — but last night’s return to SNL proved that Black can still bring it with the best of them. For example, compare any recent SNL monologue to Black’s turbo-fueled, School of Rock-style anthem to kick off last night’s show.

Black is older and heavier than he was 20 years ago, but he’s still bringing the...

‘Ne Zha 2’ At $1.1B In China Through Sunday, Already No. 7 Animated Movie Ever WW; ‘Mufasa’ Nears $700M Global, ‘Paddington In Peru’ Crosses $100M Overseas – International Box Office
Image
Refresh for latest…: As noted throughout the weekend, the big story coming from this international box office frame is the wild performance of Chinese blockbuster Ne Zha 2 and its record-breaking run as it became the first movie to ever gross $1B in a single market. Current Maoyan estimates have the title at Rmb 8B ($1.1B) through today in China.

Based on those figures, the sequel is already the No. 7 animated film ever worldwide. Maoyan has again increased its projection for the full run in China, now forecasting Rmb 12B ($1.65B). These projections tend to fluctuate, but if Ne Zha 2 were to reach that number, it would propel the film to become the No. 2 animated movie ever globally and the No. 11 film overall. Recall, that would be without any input from markets outside China where Ne Zha 2 begins rollout this week, including in the U.S. Watch this space.

Box Office Round-Up: 'Dog Man' Wins Box Office Over 'Companion'
Image
Punxsutawney Phil may have overshadowed the headlines, but it was a pair of newcomers making all the noise at the box office over the weekend. However, it turned out to be No. 1 Dog Man easily outperforming Companion to win the top spot en route to opening the month of February. Director Peter Hastings’ animated superhero comedy made an estimated $36 million domestically, while the new horror rom-com settled for the silver medal with only $9.5 million (per The Numbers).

Companion posted superior numbers on Rotten Tomatoes with both the critics ("Certified Fresh" 94% on the Tomatometer) and fans, whose reactions have already led to the unique horror rom-com being “Verified Hot” on the Popcornmeter (91%), formerly the Rt audience score, against 500+ratings. Meanwhile, Dog Man only registered 76% on the Tomatometer and 86% on the Popcornmeter.

However, fans’ reactions coming right out of the multiplexes corroborated why Dog Man did so well financially over its opening weekend.

Box Office: ‘Dog Man’ Barks Loudly in Near-Record January Opening for an Animated Film, ‘Companion’ Also Impresses
Image
Dog Man barked plenty loud at the domestic box office over the Jan. 31-Feb. 2 weekend, where it easily topped the chart with $35 million in another resounding win for the family marketplace. Its global opening of $40.2 million means it has already recouped the money it cost DreamWorks Animation and Universal to make the Captain Underpants spinoff, excluding marketing.

In North America, it scored the second-biggest January start ever for an animated film behind DreamWorks Animation’s 2016’s Kung Fu Panda 3 ($41.28 million), not adjusted for inflation.

The movie, about a man and a cop who must share the same body after something goes horribly awry, is the first kids pic to open since Mufasa: The Lion King at Christmas and Moana 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 at Thanksgiving (all these weeks later, all three films remain in the top 10 chart, which is quite a feat). Universal’s PG-rated Wicked has...

‘Dog Man’ Breaks January Box Office Record On Opening Weekend
Image
It wasn't Wolf Man, and it certainly wasn't Better Man, but Dog Man has dominated the January box office. Based on the children's graphic novel of the same name by Dav Pilkey, Dog Man is a spin-off and story within the story of Captain Underpants, which got a DreamWorks Animated movie back in 2017. In a premise that sounds like kids' first body horror, Dog Man sees a dog's face sewn onto a man's body to become a supercop while going up against many different types of villains.

According to Deadline, Dog Man brought an impressive $35.3 million in its opening weekend based on the estimates (final numbers will be recorded Monday morning). This easily gives Dog Man the biggest opening weekend of 2025 so far, beating out the weekend of Jan. 5, 2025, where Mufasa: The Lion King grossed $23 million in its third weekend of release. Dog Man is the second highest-grossing opening for...

If you missed 'Rush Hour 2' before then here is why you should watch now
Image
Rush Hour 2 needs no introduction. When the first movie came out in 1998, no one could have imagined the acclaim and success it would achieve – earning millions at the box office and basically begging for the next part. Usually, nothing exceptional ever comes out of sequels and neither is it expected.

Almost every time, the virgin feeling of the movie concept is absent, the storyline is on a similar pattern, there is no plot mystery and the viewer's feeling for expecting something new is usually not there. It is because, in most cases, the second or third part feels like the continuation of the same idea or maybe something new but on a slightly different tangent. Rush Hour 2 feels just like that. However, it is not implied in any way that the movie is bad – In fact the complete opposite.

You will find watching Rush Hour 2 like coming...

Angelina Jolie has been a celebrated actor for a number of years. She is famous for both her on and off-screen life, as she was in a high-profile relationship with actor and former Mr. and Mrs. Smith co-star Brad Pitt for over a decade. Prior to this, Jolie was also known for winning Best Supporting Actress for her acclaimed role in Girl, Interrupted. She was also later nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress for the stirring family drama Changeling.

While she had a peak period in the 2000s, Jolie's career has slowed down a bit in recent years. In 2021, she made her MCU movie playing Thena in Eternals, but then did not act in any projects in 2022 or 2023. Her career also saw other feature film gaps. It ranks number 8 on Netflix's U.S. Top 10 Movies list at the time of writing.
