Ishq

Not a typical hero-heroine love story: Actor Shane Nigam talks to Tnm about ‘Ishq’
MollywoodWith his movies ‘Ishq’ and ‘Velya Perunnal’ about to release shortly, the Malayalam actor talks to Tnm, in very few words, about his work.CrisShane Nigam would probably have merged more easily into that audience of mostly school-going children. But instead he was on a makeshift stage in front of Thiruvananthapuram’s Kairali Theatre, with a mic in his hand, answering the difficult questions the kids were asking. It is the children’s film festival in the capital and Shane, as a Malayalam film artist, was visiting them. Till a few years ago, he was a child himself, perhaps asking the same difficult questions to another celebrity. The recent celebrity status – as an actor who got picked by offbeat filmmakers – appears to rest uncomfortably on the actor. “I am not really sure what you call offbeat, I select the films that come with good stories,” he says seriously, but with...

Kajol has a question for '90's people'
Actress Kajol on Thursday shared a throwback photograph of herself from the sets of her 1997 film Ishq and posed a question to her friends Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Juhi Chawla and her husband Ajay Devgn. In the still, Kajol can be seen applying a lip liner as her make-up artist holds the mirror for her.?

"Throwback to Ishq... Big phones, sitting on set all day because we had no vans and the rooms were too far away to keep going to and we still worked 14 hours heat rain or shine... and looked good. All nineties people agree? What say Ajay Devgn, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla," Kajol captioned the image posted on Instagram.

On the work front, Kajol was last seen in Helicopter Eela. She will reportedly be seen in the upcoming drama film Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior.

A ‘Happy Ending’ on India’s RAWStar
Last weeks India’s RAWStar opened with a medley of popular songs from the Top 5 contestants. Darshan sang ‘Kabhi Jo Badal Barse’, Rituraaj sang ‘Teri Galliyan’, Jeffrey sang ‘Tere Mast Mast Do Nain’, Mohit sang ‘Ye Chand Sa Roshan Chehra’ and Akasa sang ‘Lat Lag Gayi’.

Host Gauahar Khan then announced that Darshan Raval is the first semi-finalist on the first series of India’s RAWstar. Mentor Himesh (Hr) asked Darshan who does he sing for: the critics or the audience? Darshan very confidently replied that he sings for the audience and mentor Hr was very happy with his answer. Mentor Hr then said to Darshan that after he performs his first original sound track, he will personally take Darshan’s autograph on the CD!

Darshan performed his own composition ‘Pehli Mohabbat’. After he sang the song, mentor Hr jokingly asked Darshan ‘Tum Ne Kabhi Ishq Kiya Hain?’ (meaning have you ever been in love?...

Box Office – Kill Dil does less than half of Gunday in its first weekend
Kill Dil has turned out to be a disappointment at the box office. It was expected that the film would take a decent start at least, considering the kind of names involved as well as the fact that the theatrical promo had made some impact. Moreover, it was a solo release of the week and didn’t have much of a competition from the past either. However, as it turned out, the film took a start around 30% and didn’t show much of a growth as the days progressed. Since the reviews and word of mouth too ranged from poor to average, the game was pretty much lost on Day One itself.

All of this meant that the Shaad Ali directed film just about managed to cross the 20 crore* mark over the weekend, which is not just way less than Gunday (which belonged to the same genre and accumulated around...

Southern film industry cashes in on hit pairs (Cinema Trend)
Nithya Menen
Chennai, Sep 16: The film industry in southern India has a history of cashing in on a trend. From subjects to narrative style to technology, the industry has capitalised on everything that has clicked at the box-office. The latest trend seems to be casting a pair on the big screen more than once to reap benefits of such an association.

Nithiin Reddy and Nithya Menon, most bankable pair in the industry, have starred in two back-to-back Telugu blockbusters "Ishq" and "Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde" (Gjg).

"I loved the chemistry between Nithiin and Nithya in 'Ishq'. I knew the pair would hit it off if I cast them again because I.

Tezz Music Review
Tezz marks the return of Priyadarshan after quite some time, his last release being Aakrosh that did not fare so well. Like Aakrosh, Priyadarshan has divested of his usual comical outings (Hera Pheri, Chup Chup Ke, Hungama and Hulchul) and gone for an action-suspense-thriller starring Anil Kapoor and Ajay Devgan as leads. Zayed Khan, Sameera Reddy, Kangana Ranaut and Boman Irani bring up the supporting tier of the ensemble with a rumoured appearance by Malayalam acting legend Mohanlal. Trailers and promos of the film thus far have looked more than promising and therefore one expects the music to reflect same.

Sajid-Wajid (Dabangg, Housefull 2 and Wanted) have composed for Tezz while Jalees Sherwani and Shabbir Ahmed have penned the lyrics. The 10-track soundtrack features the vocal talents of Shreya Ghosal (‘Chikni Chameli’ – Agneepath), Shaan (‘Behti Hawa Sa Tha Woh‘ – 3 Idiots), Mohit Chauhan (‘Sadda Haq’ – Rockstar), Sunidhi Chuhan (‘Ishq Sufianna’ – The Dirty Picture...
