Maiden Woods is a remote and quiet town of decent, hard-working people, but something stirs in the dark woods surrounding this isolated community. After a logging company decimates an area of the forest, a rash of increasingly violent and unexplainable events transpires. Sheriff Paul Shields (Kevin Durand) and his deputy (Lukas Haas) struggle to confront their own personal demons while facing down a new breed of raw terror that is possibly older than humanity itself... Good for Kevin Durand

Although there are no truly new or astonishing things done in this film, it is good to see Kevin Durand in a lead role. He has played all kinds of characters, which are typically antagonists, he is a very talented actor. So, I tip my cap to him in this thriller.

Based on "The Devil's Footprints" phenomenon that occurred in 19th century England. Mysterious hoof-like footprints appeared in the snow between 8 February and 9 February 1855 in Devon all along the 40 to 100 miles (60 to 160 km). The prints appeared to pass through walls and over rooftops, marking a route in a perfect straight line. It is still considered to be an unsolved mystery.

Goofs
After Donny is injured by the creature, Donny tells Paul to "go get it." But he doesn't tell Paul where or in which direction the creature has gone.
