The artwork for earlier copies of the North American version (which were produced in small quantities and hard to find today) depicted Peach with a smiling expression, Yoshi with his likeness from Yoshi's Story, and Donkey Kong whose likeness is based on the original 1981 namesake arcade game. Later copies use the better-known re-illustrated artwork showing Peach with a concerned expression, Yoshi with his likeness based upon his Super Mario World design, and Donkey Kong whose likeness is that of the Game Boy remake of the arcade original.

On the game's box art representing five games, Princess Peach who appears in the game "Chef!" is shown wearing a chef's hat; but in the game she wears her crown like she does in most other games she appears in.
