Oof. I do not like the overpowered, all controlling, cracking villains. I think Amanda Plummer is a talented actress, but her character is annoying. She even smokes a lot, creating a dark, creepy aura for her. It is cheap.
That said, the episode has many good things,. The visuals were excellent, the ship of the villain looks amazing, the acting is real good and, of course, we have nice cameos.
I knew one particular character was going to appear in the show, but the way they did it surprised me, in a good way. The "twist" of the episode was super-obvious since the previous episode. I do not care too much for that, or for Raffi story. But I am intrigued about the general direction of the show and I think it is probably its best season. I will keep watching, of course, but I hope they make something a little more interesting with the villain.

After 2 pretty bad seasons, we are finally getting something good from Picard. It would get a 10 if it wasn't for Michelle Hurd. Sorry, but she brings down the show with her bad overacting.
But, we finally have decent writing and an actual story line that doesn't feel disjointed. It's still early days, but I don't hate it. Kind of a "Strange New World" vibes, which has been the best modern trek yet.
The sad thing is Patrick Stewart is a little to old to carry a whole series and with mostly weak characters in season 1 and 2, it really struggled. Bringing back the TNG team was the right thing to do, and probably should have been done from season 1. But hindsight is good and they took two seasons, but they learnt.
I was super nervous going into this season, but so far, I am happy. Keep it up.

This was the first episode of the whole show that actually felt like the good old Star Trek I'm used to.
Though I'm not a fan of the dark style, it's reminding me of the first contact.
Also the characters that are introduced are finally interesting and not annoying anymore. Captain Shaw is very interesting, the ferengi guy and the female captain of the alien ship are extremely well played and have some intriguing concepts.
The whole episode had the old moral and ethic dilemmas that Star Trek was famous for.
The chemistry between the old tng crew is amazing and takes you right back to the old days. Also Picard isn't the geriatric old grandpa anymore. He is the captain/admiral we needed.
I'm hopeful. Thank you.

Wow! The cast, the acting, the story! Amanda Plummer as the villain like her father before her, Christopher Plummer in the Undiscovered Country as General Chang! Clearly this is written by a true Trek lover and not by some woke up nonsense. Star Trek the way it should be fun, memorable and enjoyable. It always amazes me how TNG and Voyager could make you feel a range of emotion in just one hour. I watched the first two seasons of Picard and was unimpressed. But season 3 starts fresh and is excellent!!!! Welcome back Star Trek and the TNG cast you have again shown what Star Trek is! Make it so number one!!!
Some negative reviews when we need to embrace this programme for what it is... Closure on what was a phenomenal rebirth of the franchise. Kirk and Co where a cult - unappreciated in their own time and saved by the films. Next gen cemented star trek in our lives and every second of screen time is a moment of nostalgia that should be appreciated. A thank you to the producers and cast for the new material, there is a gratitude due that cannot be fulfilled - from every trek fan... thank you.
This episode finally addresses what we always knew... Picard and Beverly where overcome in their dual of destiny versus duty - at least its not a skinny Tom Hardy this time!

- TriviaAmanda Plummer (Vadic) is the daughter of the late actor Christopher Plummer, who played General Chang in Star Trek VI : Terre inconnue (1991). Elements of Chang were worked into Vadic's performance, including the order to display her ship's power by a finger wave.
- GoofsWhen Vadic first addresses the Titan's bridge personnel, she says, "Good afternoon. I believe it is afternoon in the Sol System."
Afternoon is a relative term, based on where on a rotating planetary body an observer is. On any planetary body, it is afternoon on 1/4 of its surface. Also, the Sol System has several planetary bodies (regular and dwarf planets), which each have their own afternoon. So Vadic's reference to the Sol system's afternoon makes no sense.
However, starships *do* use times and dates, so it is possible that Federation ships all synchronize to one timezone on Earth, and that this timezone is therefore the "Sol timezone", the timezone all Sol-based starships use, and is the one Vadic is referring to.
